I’m so conflicted about the game. I love Marathon and the lore of the ARG has been great but I abhor live service games and “pvp extraction shooter” doesn’t appeal to me either. I’ve heard the direction of the game’s development has shifted a bit recently alongside leadership. Maybe it will change enough to interest me. If not, I’ll just observe from a distance I guess.
I'm working on a few concepts now. Interestingly, the other time "Artifacts" are mentioned in the Marathon universe (besides the vidoc from last year) is in the epilogue for Pathways Into Darkness. Jason Jones, Bungie OG, said in an interview once "the important thing about the hint book epilogue was to make all the player character's artifacts from the pyramid disappear from circulation before the marathon story begins." This has some interesting implications on their choice to utilize the word artifact so heavily when seemingly referring to something that may have to do with ancient Jjarro tech. My biggest barrier to entry with Pathways is that I'm honestly not a fan of playing it haha, even with the aleph port and turning mouse aiming on it just isn't up my alley, but I do think I'll do a proper synopsis of it and expand on the lore here on my channel. I have a few more specific new Marathon things I want to get out first though.
Hello, thanks for the comment. The pages involved in the actual arg from last year have mostly been taken down but they have been documented in a few places. marathon.bungie.org/story/ has a section on the left side of the page that is a written summary and analysis for most of what was found during the arg and has original photos of the websites. marathon.karnemir.com/root has the raw documents and information in a clean format without analysis. Also, I have some videos that document the info and take a stab at analyzing them if you prefer a video format. Hope this helps!
You mean M2? M1-2794 M2-2811, and I guess they may not be expecting a signal but we know that they are aware of lost contact with the Marathon at least by 2795 per the UESC memoranda, marathon.karnemir.com/marathon/somewhere-in-the-heavens/uesc/memoranda . I guess my assumption is that it would be policy to send a distress signal should something go awry so I would think that's part of their expectation.
This man doing more work for my hope of a game that hasn't even came out than anything else.
Enjoyed the ARG Analysis videos
