Lego has made some amazing sets over the past 3 years, but as someone that has to part with their own money and doesn't get them sent for review and free, it's getting more difficult to afford lego as a hobby. Don't get me wrong I don't want them to make all small cheap sets, but maybe not as many large expensive sets so often just space them out a little more to let customers save up for them.
Agreed All of these sets will have an average of 2 years on the shelf that means 2 years to acquire them. After that that's going to be really hard financially.
Tbh I’m in the same boat. I wish they would bring back the mini Lego Star Wars ships!

Agree with everything you say. I share the exact same thoughts.
I don’t think the purpose is for everyone to collect all the expensive sets in a short time period, but to have an expensive sets once a year in as many themes as possible.
For SW this year it’s the Razor Crest, for Marvel it’s the Hulkbuster, for Technic its the Daytona, and for Architecture it’s the Eiffel Tower. Lego knows 99% of people won’t buy all the expensive sets, just the one theme they are interested in.
The Tallneck should 100% be on this list. It's an amazing build, looks awesome, and isn't very expensive.

The ones from this year I got were the Sanctorum, Starry Night and the tallneck!, definitely my favourites of the year
Tallneck is far better than the Avatar set imo. Avatar set looks kinda cool but honestly somewhat basic.

I'm tempted to put the Lion Knight Castle at the top of the list. It is just so much fun with it's many fun details and great playability, not to mention the very generous amount of minifigs!
Same as a kid I would always get the new Lion's castle set so this new one is just as special to me.
It’s my number 1 for this year as well, might even be my number 1 of all times
I put it on top to, of all the secrets, the playability, for both adult and kids, shaped so proportionally, colored so controlled, it is just pure joy and nostalgia, pure diamond.
@@Breyzipp I agree, in terms of scale, beauty, play functions, minis, universal theme, fun for girls and boys of all ages, mixing town and action, it is the greatest they have ever made.
The Eiffel Tower almost seems like a great deal because you know a set of that caliber would be 800-1000 bucks if it were Star Wars related

A lot of repetition, but...Holy hell is it awesome!
Both the Orchids and Succulents are really nice $/€50 sets. Not as big as more expensive sets, they still have interesting builds with tons of fun techniques. They also take up less space, which, if you aren't lucky enough to have a dedicated LEGO room, is at a premium.
Ray the Castaway is also a very good build, with a finished model that's nice to look at. However, it being a GWP with a high threshold really holds back its availability

You should do an under 100$ list too. There are lots of them too. Speed champion cars are some my favorite builds for Lego on a budget.

Speed champions had an amazing wave this year, with really cool build techniques and great display pieces.
Genuinely surprise DeLorean Time Machine did not get an honourable mention

@@jacds I was a bit "sad" too because some sets I absolutely love aren't on the list then I realised that I would've put 30 sets on the list. That's how both good and freaking expensive 2022 was !
I don't know for me the starry night is above the Eiffel Tower. The fact that it's 3D and with all that color is just so nice to look at. Plus it doesn't break my bank account like the Eiffel Tower.🙃

the jazz quartet was honestly my favorite lego this year it was so fun to build and to see each character becoming something and the instruments are we’ll detailed. its honestly the best lego for its price.
Also the botanical collection as a whole was amazing in my opinion. The bonsai and bouquet being my favorites
I’m a 42 year old man who has fallen back in love with Lego after building Van Gogh’s Starry Night. I also bought one for my younger brother for Christmas. I wish they would run with this idea, and do more iconic paintings and painters. The Scream and Bob Ross are two sets I would buy.
Excellent top 10 list! and agreed about Lego becoming so much more expensive lately and honestly TLG brings out so many Lego sets every few months, so some kind of a breather is required for collectors to save up. Been following your channel since a while, good job with the videos, love and appreciation from Pakistan :)
Great top 10. This year Lego has made a fantastic job bringing us so many good Lego sets, specially in the Star Wars line. I don't have this set in my collection yet but I think that the Lego Time Machine (the Delorean) from Back To The Future should be in this list. Over all, great video.

lion knight's castle was simply the best for me, it is proportionally nice, colored so calm, and there's lot's of secret in it, it's just pure elegance
best set of all time.
I really enjoyed your list of best Lego sets😁! For myself personally my favorite set is the Van Gogh Starry night. Its a beautiful set and was such an enjoyable build, I redesigned my display so that it draws the attention of my guest. I'm looking forward to the next art set the great wave and hoping this line continues with iconic sets.

Really like these kind of videos. I normally don’t watch a lot of LEGO reviews, because in the reviews, all the fun details are ‘spoiled’. I rather like to know what someone’s opinion is on a set, not the full details, so a video like this is perfect!

I love the Bowser set it just looks perfect. I think Lego could have done something similar to that with the Hulkbuster set but they really dropped the ball there. Also you may have convinced me to get a Lighthouse set.

the NINJAGO city, gardens and docks are some of the best looking modular sets. Plus the sense of nostalgia you get as some one who grew up watching ninjago is just amazing.

I like the top 10 idea. I will definitely watch next years. For me personally of the 2022 kits that I actually purchased, I would have to say the AT-TE first, and the Inquisitor Scythe Shuttle second. Great minifigs and great builds.

Good list. Starry Night #1 for me, and I’d move Lion Knight well up the list, ahead of Eiffel and Razor Crest for fun value. Boutique Hotel the clearest omission (maybe even top 5) and I’d happily drop the Globe out to accommodate it.

My favorite one I got this year was the Lego Optimus Prime. I used to build Transformers characters with my Legos as a kid and to have an official set that actual transforms was a dream come true.

What?!? How is the Tallneck not on this list? I agree with a lot of these sets but the Horizon set is easily one of the best sets this year. It also has the best minifigure this year. I am really happy to see Van Gogh Starry Night on here as well. It was an interesting build with a great looking minifig as well.

@@BrickReporter I know. I know. And I respect his opinions. A lot of these sets I actually own or have already ordered them. Other sets in this list I don’t care for the main builds but they could be used for MOCs. Specifically the Avatar sets, I see them being used for Xen builds

My Top Ten 2022 Lego...
- 10497 Galaxy Explorer
(Top of its class with fun building techniques, great price, nostalgic goodness and looks great on display. Build out a moon-scape and landing pad for it which is alotta' fun to do.).
- 10307 Eiffel Tower.
(A tremendous feat of Lego engineering, incredible highly detailed build experience. Biggest set ever at almost 5 feet tall. And the price for what you get, just can’t beat it. Stunning, striking. Rivals or overtakes the UCS Millennium Falcon as the ultimate Lego display model.).
- 10302 Optimus Prime.
(Finally after seeing so many moc's online of folks building a true transforming Optimus Prime, Lego gives us the official real deal. Great model, little pricey but it's got the right G1 look, transforms smooth and very cool brick built accessories.).
- 21333: Vincent van Gogh - The Starry Night.
(For years I've wanted a Lego art piece of a famous painting and it finally arrived this year. Truly a unique Lego build experience and final product with its beautiful color palette is striking.).
- 71765: Ninja Ultra Combo Mech.
(If you loved Voltron and similar mechs then this is a MUST get. Looks great and 4 mini-build vehicles combine to create a huge mech. Incredibly fun for your kids and us big kids too.).
- 76911 007 Aston Martin DB5.
(An incredible iconic car at this scale. Nice build techniques. Highly recommend.).
- 10305 Lion Knights’ Castle.
(A Castle fans dream. Wow. A must get for the Castle aficionados. Tons of figs and so many little hidden rooms, details to explore throughout the castle. Love the asymmetry of the castle's footprint, unique look when all closed up. A great display.).
- 76218 Sanctum Sanctorum.
(A superhero corner modular (can incorporate into your modular city). Another Marvel building triumph. Another one of the those builds you get to explore the entire space of the building with all its fantastic rooms packed with details. Great play features too with the Gargantos wall panels. Like the Daily Bugle, if you're a Marvel fan, a must get. A fair price on this one compared to others in this range.).
- 76406 Hungarian Horntail Dragon.
(One of Lego's best if not the best dragon they've ever done. And the way it moves, fluid, smooth. For the price it's great. Don't have to be a Harry Potter fan to enjoy.).
- 75329: Death Star Trench Run Diorama.
(Even though it got that price increase this is a unique very cool looking display set. Fun to build with all the greebling and nice mini-fighters. Exclusive R2-D2 round tile for the mini X-Wing which is a unique version of this vehicle.).

My son are mostly in agreement with you as we also have 8 out of the 10 you selected with namely the Avatar and the Van Gogh being the exceptions. To date we have built about half of them with the lighthouse the latest. My son did the Eiffel Tower last week. We have just completed our House of Lego with a 10 x 7.5 meter shed being lined, painted, carpetted and a mezzanine floor built for a place to store the empty boxes . For the previous 5-6 months we have had to cease building waiting for the shed to be re-furbished. Shelving is a huge expense ($3000) but it does look good. Moving our collection has been a hard job but to date have managed to only have to rebuild about 5 sets thankfully which is not too bad considering we have in excess of 500. To get to the shed requires walking up a series of terraces to our back plot to each it. It's there and we are about 75% finished .
I ordered the Lighthouse and Starry Night last year and enjoyed them immensely ... being a massive Doctor Who fan I try and find every set ever made. I did not see any on your list 😢 great video and top 10. Cheers ✌

The Lego Delorean set (although I don’t own it yet) looks amazing. The shiny silver and my love for the movies is my main reasoning
The UCS Razorcrest is my number 1 of 2022. When I 1st saw it I thought it was overrated but after actually building it myself and seeing all the little details it really impressed me. I will say the Eiffel tower is worthy as well. I bought one for my friend for Christmas. Im interested in howthats going to go. And its hard to believe Titanic has been out over a year ago. Haha.

The larger sets are as always impressive, but honestly running out of space haha. I really want them to go back to highly detailed and great idea smaller sets. One example is the Jazz set. A true masterpiece imo with great building techniques. I don't think the Jazz set got enough attention.
Really clever idea to make this video now, not in January. Ive been personally looking for ideas before christmas and there is lack of videos like this

Great video as always, but I really feel like you're missing out on sets designed by fans :) As a sophisticated collector myself, I've had far more fun with customs this year than with most regular LEGO Star Wars sets. Webshops like BrickVault, Rebrickable, JorstadDesigns, etc. offer instructions for numerous vehicles LEGO never made into sets. As one of my favorite UA-camrs I'd love to see reviews from you and hear your opinions on some of them.

I am a big fan of the LEGO star wars AT-TE set.It's just awesome
As someone who enjoys all themes, my top two sets for the year are the Technic BMW superbike, and the Technic Airbus Helicopter. They also gave us the most diverse range of Harry Potter sets too.

Great sets , ordered some Christmas theme stuff to decorate my new home & yes grown adult using them as decorations instead of other Christmas decorations 🤷♂️ Lego has stepped up competition due to others making more competitive though.

Honestly, for me, my favorite sets from what I saw this year were: 4. Galaxy Explorer, 3. Globe, 2. Lion Knight Castle, 1. Lighthouse. But the Lighthouse is also why I got out of Legos. $300 for the set is just too much. It looks beautiful. It is probably my favorite set in years but when the choice comes down to a lego set or: My cable bill + Electric Bill + Gas Bill - the bills get paid.
The Bricktober Lego Adventure rides are my number ones sets for 2022!

I live in Australia so all the amazing sets like the UCS Star Wars sets that I want really bad are $1.7k minimum. And the really good larger like non like the Batman tumbler or daily bugle are all like $500 it’s ridiculous, I want them but I just can’t justify it

What about the Lego The Office? It is an amazing set, although I didn't buy it. I'm planning on watching the Office because of this set, it introduced me to the franchise. Honestly, tbe Stapler in the Jello was pretty well represented. Hilarious moment in the show, too.

Tbh when i heard we were getting lego avatar sets i was excited cause we hadent gotten one since probrably arount 2007 but then i got really dissapointed when i found out it was for the sucky blue people movie
Eiffel tower is definitely at the top in terms of display sets this year. I will be saving my pennies to buy one eventually, I have only just bought the UCS AT-AT when it was on sale for $1k AUD. Have yet to buy the titanic as well, just too many $$ sets to keep up. Lego should be making sure larger sets are continued for at least 2 years more than normal if they intend to let fans buy what they want direct from Lego instead of handing over $ to resellers.

think the Lego Razor crest deservers number one because it doesn't look like a set but it is, and also the interior an all the details.
You can say that about some other sets this year though like the delorean. And that's a personal preference, some people like when Lego looks like Lego (visible studs etc)

I own 6 of the sets in your top 10, have 2 on my wish list (lighthouse and sanctorium) and 2 I don’t care about (the 2 Star Wars sets). So I guess I bought too much LEGO this year 😅 The Eiffel Tower is already standing next to me (in box), Monday my coffee table I will build it on will be delivered 😎

I actually think Lion Knight’s Castle is the best set this year. Have most of these including the Eiffel Tower, but nothing tops the castle (to me) as a quintessential LEGO set.

I miss the Tallneck and the Galaxy Explorer. The price-performance ratio is right here. The lighthouse is nice, but the price ruins a lot.
