      @@azbudski2750 It's not 'science'. People live longer when they have access to drugs... It just depends on the drugs you're talking about. Scientifically speaking though, life expectancy goes up when people have access to drugs that counter heart problems or put cancers into remission.
      I'm not sure which drugs you're insinuating that these guys take but I highly doubt they take steroids as that is not their bag. They aren't trying to LOOK strong which is what steroids do, they don't necessarily add strength and most of these guys don't have impressive physiques in terms of looking ripped etc.
      Pain killers are the only drugs that I can think of that could possibly cause harm but I'm not aware of any strong man competitors having addiction problems. And most don't seem to be any worse, physically than the general population as they age. Have you seen the video of Bill Kazmeir and Ver Magnusson competing this year? One man is 56, the other nearly ten years older and both were still capable of remarkable feats of strength.
      If you want to bring science into it, you'll have to provide evidence.

      You can't build much of an economy around a sport that can only be played by freaks. There aren't many amateur strong men. No way to market it to children etc. You have to rely on viewership mainly. But because of factors you mention, you can't have much of a season.

Exhausting themselves with other lifts before the dead would significantly effect the athletes performance and lead to less weight pulled and probably more injuries considering how many muscles play a roll in the DL. @@DEADTHENALIVE Most Fortnite players are literal children. Sure being strong helps in the everyday life of these strongmen, but their strength doesn't help society as a whole until they put it to use in an occupation. What they're doing now is entertaining us (which is what earns them the 72k), and that's exactly what fortnite streamers do, just to a much larger audience (hence the larger payout).

      @jasontheranga9769 5 років тому +2

      @@DEADTHENALIVE the wheel of pain was a prop in Conan... Its similar to a grain mill but it was never used as an actual torture/"slave device".
      I think you really underestimate the skills involved with being a popular streamer. Firstly, you've got to be really good at the game (but that's a given). As well as this you've gotta give actual decent commentary for hours on end which is easier said than done, you cant just sit in front of a screen for hours with your mouth hanging open and expect people to watch you. You've got to keep viewer retention. Additionally, you must interact with your viewers through the chat function and involve them in the experience, this is what usually draws people into watching streams in the first place. All of this while still doing well in the game. And you're doing this every day. I know it doesn't seem like much but until you've actually tried you don't know how hard it is. A stream isn't just a guy playing a game, its a performance. Comparing streaming to a guy "just playing video games" is like comparing formula 1 to a guy just going round in circles in a car.
      I'm not trying to say that being a streamer is harder than being a strongman at this level, i'm just saying that they both take real aptitude.
      In the end, it doesn't matter which one is harder anyway, its about audience. You can build the worlds best forklift that's miles ahead of anything else in the heavy machinery industry, but you're only ever going to sell to companies with forklift drivers. Your profits will never come close to the profits of the next mediocre Iphone with the target market of everyone in the first world.

    A geeks point of view. Have a sensor on one of the wheels to measure the distance moved, incorporated with a timer that starts when it detects movement. After 1 minute it stops and reveals the distance moved. Distance measured can be stored/displayed electronically. You could even have it stop if movement has stopped for a certain amount of time, like 5 seconds as penalty/disqualification for taking too long to getting it going again.
    With this upgrade they can get rid of the laser/marker system and can start from any position without having to reset it back to the start. Not as many officials needed and therefore more money for prize money.

      @KarlPHorse 5 років тому +10

      Honestly given some of their squat stats they could probably run it just a little slower than the average person, assuming they slimmed down and trained a bit. I mean just doing the math, the average male weight is 197lb and the average male squat stat is 285lb. Of course squats aren't the only factor in ones ability to run, and 197lb is a bit on the overweight side and really only average do to the obesity epidemic, so let's take it down to 150lb and bring the squat weight down to 248lb. That would mean that this person has enough strength in their legs to lift 98lb more than their body weight. Hafthor weighs 425lb, and his squat record is 970lb, meaning that at his best he has enough strength in his legs to lift 545lb more than his body weight. So it goes without saying that he has no trouble getting around. Of course muscle or not, his joints and ligaments would have a hell of a time, so running frequently would probably ruin his knees, but he could most likely run a mile every now and then quite easily.

    21:48 commentators: "the reason everyone wants to win this is not only prestige but so is the money a factor here."
    22:18 immediately after the total purse for the event is shown on the screen. Commentators: "it is not just the money but the street creds that is the main factor." 😂😂😂

      commentators are full scales idiots. Money is not the issue it's a joke Thor makes more money in 1 episode of GOT than in his entire Strongman career.
      Maybe for the poorer athletes Mateusz, Novikov and Ball sack the money if a big factor, for the rest it's not. it's a joke.
