    Such a terrific video Terry! I did most of my train travel in the 1950s, 60s and 70s. Back then the Budd cars were modern. I never had the opportunity to ride in more modern cars, like those Renaissance cars. Once we got into the 1970s long distance travel, for me, was by plane. I would have preferred the train, but the company I worked for wanted us to fly. Anyway, this was a very professional video. Thanks for allowing us to travel with you ❤️

      Thanks so much John. 😊 I really appreciate your kind words. You know, you should do a short hop on Amtrak or such.

      @@Terrys-Steam-and-Bricks My wife and I talked about going for a ride on Amtrak, but it was tough working out the logistics. Back in the day, it was often most convenient to take the train. That is not the case now. Who knows, we may have the opportunity in the future.

      @Terrys-Steam-and-Cobi Yes you are Terry! When we lived in Latrobe, after getting married, I could easily walk to the train station.

    Awww, a nice journey.... if rather sad.
    Interesting to see what's just a 'normal' journey in another country, looking out the window and seeing the scenery go by. (I'll have one from the UK soon!)
    I enjoyed the quantum physics too! 😂

      Thanks Steve. I am looking forward to seeing a journey from over your way!! Now, if I apply energy to a train here will it’s paired match react instantly there too?

    I'm glad you were able to ride on the last Renaissance corridor train! I wouldn't be surprised if the streamliner coaches from the corridor trains (seen at 25:50) replaced the coach cars on The Ocean. Those are the only cars VIA can replace on The Ocean at this time as they only have 13 dining cars and about 70 sleeper cars

      @@MrBnsftrain it was a fun trip. Pulling up along side The Ocean was a nice surprise. I suppose they could replace the coach cars on the ocean easily enough. The problem is accessibility. I liked riding the Ren cars. My sister is disabled and while not in a wheelchair chair (for which there is a spot) she would have difficultly stepping up into the seats.

    That was a very nicely put together video, Terry (and family)! So cool with the multiple camera views! Great looking passenger trains and I’m so glad you were able to ride them for their final day of official service! Beautiful scenery too! Thanks for taking us along on this journey! Very well done! ❤️🚂😎

    Nice tour across Canada, or should I say, a tiny fraction on it. A once in a lifetime trip that I'm sure you always treasure and also captured for others to enjoy. Good to see that the family team were out in support as you passed Casselman.

      Thanks Steve! Yes. A tiny fraction of the country. I’ve never taken The Ocean to Halifax. I should one day. The family blipped past super fast!!

    Awesome video Terry. St Henri eh. Im sure Marge is pleased. Loved the tiny John Deere baggage tractor. Those cars are going but great to see the old cars from the 50s
    Perhaps you could do some more rail trip videos around Canada and if you get the chance other countries. Maybe even trips over iconic rail bridges🤔😊

    Cool how you combined the two videos together. Are the Ren cars being scrapped, sold, or added to the Ocean fleet?

    • @Terrys-Steam-and-Bricks
      @Terrys-Steam-and-Bricks  3 місяці тому +1

      Thanks! Well, no idea what will happen to them. I heard they are offered for sale. I doubt they would be offered for the ocean fleet because the ocean fleet came equipped with day coaches, sleepers, diners, and such. The corridor coaches were finished as commuter coaches. I’m sure some could be used for running gear spare parts. A funny thing is that two days ago I saw them in use on a revenue passenger train through where I live. I suppose that now, even after officially being retired, they may from time to time be used in a pinch as more Siemens sets are delivered.

  • @theryrover360

    are they being moved to the ocean or are they flat out being retired?

    • @Terrys-Steam-and-Bricks
      @Terrys-Steam-and-Bricks  4 місяці тому +1

      Retired. The interiors of these are specifically built for commuter service whereas the ocean is a traditional long haul train with dining cars, sleepers, day coaches and such. I imagine some may be used for part spares for running gear and such. Otherwise I don’t know whether the bulk will be for sale or scrapped. Someone on here may provide an answer?

      @@Terrys-Steam-and-Bricks crazy how they're retiring cars from the 90s but not from the 40s

    • @Terrys-Steam-and-Bricks
      @Terrys-Steam-and-Bricks  4 місяці тому

      @@theryrover360 right!? But the 40s cars have larger spaces flat floors so rearranging them for accessibility is fairly simple. My father in law has a very bad back injury and has trouble walking he needs help with a step up. The seats in the Renaissance cars are a step up to get in. This would be a burden for him.
