- This has been YEARS in the making. First I had to research what I needed, second was treasure hunting to actually find it!
Can't wait to document and record all of it to preserve their sound and history forever, website coming soon w/downloads!
Should make a point and click virtual walk around. It can be a virtual museum. That sounds fun.
With little clips of what each kit sounds like!
and we make it work on old computers and record the audio in 16-bit 22050Hz and we all hate it because it's compressed to hell and back
Or better yet, make it a VR experience (with narration from Wade)
Make it in the style of Myst!
@@em5345- no, only a loud minority of people have VR headsets, Wade, if you are doing a digital walk around thing, please focus on normal displays first, then possibly add a VR experience.
The Free Car AND the drum museum? The great works of our age are complete!
"It's AN MUSEUM!"
@@neilomacno it's THE museum. An museum would imply that it's just another one, it's not the case
It was the best of times
It was the blurst of times?!
I’ve already booked a flight to Adelaide.
born too late to explore the earth
born too soon to explore space
born at just the right time to explore dank toys
So happy Crypto turned out well for SOMEONE I actually care about. You go, Wade, you deserved this. All of this.
And he even admits it was zero skill. Not trying to con people into investing in his crypto scam.
@@LaughingOrange He said he did it "for the memes" and got lucky. That makes him the only honest crypto investor in existence LOL
imma be honest, this may be one of the proudest moments i’ve ever witnessed on youtube, genuinely happy for all your work, enjoy your museum, Wade, cheers from an italian guy, living in japan
why did u feel the need to mention that you live in japan lmao, how is it that relevant
@@datutturugang666 che bomba! io faccio tutt'altro tipo di ingegneria, ma è sempre un gran piacere quando pubblica dank. Un saluto a te

Legitimately so happy for you, Wade. your office, nay your entire set up is actually fucking insane. when i saw the dankpods setup i almost gasped i wouldve had no idea
Wade?

I’m an audio engineer in the US that will do anything you need to help record and process audio for your drums. Pro bono. From bouncing around ideas to nitty gritty work. What you’ve done here is incredible.
I'll add onto this that I make sample libraries, and would be down to help build some as well. Either something in depth to sell and fund the space a little, Or even some light free in the room sound ones for people to play with and enjoy as a part of the museum idea, or to be integrated into a virtual museum.
The MIDI drum renaissance is upon us.
You guys offering support are legends, i hope he accepts one he's back
He needs to see this
im an audio grad, will play around with it for free.
I *cannot* stress enough how much I need a video on that 70s kit with the flares on the bottom of the drums. Now that I've seen that they exist, it's a physical NEED to hear them played
This channel is seriously why I started taking drum lessons at age 39. Thank you.
dope. have fun!
Something like this is never complete. You'll keep finding cool stuff for the museum
He's gonna need a bigger museum
As a drummer, I’m so happy for you. You always put the “boring time” warning on all of the drum history stuff and I EAT IT UP. Congrats!!!!
I’m not even a drummer but that “boring time” stuff isn’t boring to me
Honestly, more boring time would be amazing!
This website is shaping up to be one of the best online resources for drum history, and samples of vintage kits for production. Can't wait to see it when it's done. Idk if you plan on doing it already, but I'd reccomend scanning pdfs of all the advertisements, manuals, and other paper goods you have and cataloging them for viewing on the website. A lot of those are likely not available online yet so it'd be cool to have them recorded for preservations sake. You could also implement interactive sounds to pictures of the kits (i.e. click on a tom, hear the tom.) That's really just extra flare at that point though.
I don't think I've ever heard you this excited before. It's incredibly clear that this is your passion and I'm so excited to be swept along with you.
Make sure this stuff is well-organized on your channel! Get the playlists going, cite your info, etc., try to turn this into not just a channel where ya can share your passion but also a resource for those of us who want to share it!
there really, really isn’t much information on this kind of thing that’s accessible to the layperson- and your laid back, playful style is perfect for keeping people interested as you share your world. Access is the key to interest!
While it's sad (but absolutely understandable) that the museum won't be visitable, I'm excited to see your ideas for it come to fruition. The restoration and recording of all these pieces will be a huge win for drum history. Very exciting!
I'm not drummer, musician, or anything of the sort. Im just a guy who stumbled on your channel a year or so ago and laughed at some funny aussie dude calling an mp3 player a nugget and stuck around for the ride. But just to see your passion for these things is so cool to me in ways I don't know how to put into words. Old, beat up, non original, it doesn't matter they are all awesome time pieces and it's so cool to see them in the care of someone who appreciates them. Congratulagtions on your personal museum, man!
Wade, I’m so incredibly proud of everything you have achieved in the last three years, you’ve come so far since your teaching days, and I’m so excited for what the future holds for you. ❤
I think my favorite random drum thing is Skid Row's first album's drums were recorded in a huge warehouse which is where that massive reverb sound comes from. I thought that was neato
oh hey I watch your vids! small world haha
You ABSOLUTELY deserve a vacation. The work that you've done since 2020 is insane. Enjoy!
Dank doing a mock-Aussie accent when talking about the bendigo kit is golden.
Wade, I could cry with happiness for you, this is absolutely incredible! What a cool space filled with such interesting stuff. Can’t wait to visit the virtual museum! Take care mate.
this is amazing!!! There's very few people that like sharing what they are really passionate about and showing what putting effort into your dream is really like! And you're sharing it with your community who, like me, know nothing about drums but i'm so excited to see what you have in store! there's so many cool things that i want to see!! I'm so happy for you this is amazing
Im so excited for the inevitable documentary of drums through the ages, this is great
This guy's passionate rambling is what I'm alive for
As a dude that occasionally hits things with sticks: that's pretty sweet.
Next step would probably have you building Disneyland dark ride (pun intended) where you drive the free car through a tunnel with robots playing each kit in detailed dioramas.
You know, I usually roll my eyes when someone comments something like "your videos saved me" or some bullshit like that. That being said, as of now I'm going thru some rough stuff in my personal life, and your drum museum update gave me a small uplift I needed. I can really sense your joy and happiness about both the whole Drum Thing and the Drum Museum, and I'm getting some secondhand happiness as a result. Please keep doing the stuff that makes you happy, and update us about it in your own terms.
Man this is rhe most beautiful passion project I've seen in a while. I love how happy you sound. It's truly wonderful when someone is this passionate about something because it's so infectious. I never thought twice about drums till I found your channel, and now I'm so excited for every video, can't wait to see what's coming next.
This absolutely imploded my mind. The drum thing couch, AND your editing office AAAND THE DANKPODS SET? ALL in the same room. And i thought they were all in different locations. Props to you man, you maintained the illusion well.
Seeing someone so passionate about what they like is SO damn contagious, before finding your channels I didn't care in the slighest about ipods, headphones, drums, but now I find myself seeking content about these even when you don't upload, I LOVE these now! Can't wait to see all you have to show us in this room, have a nice vacation mate you deserve it ❤
Wade is rapidly becoming the coolest dude on the planet.
as if he isn't ALREADY
Congratulations. Honestly Im so blown away from all the content you’ve been able to put out. You have been a massive inspiration for me to take up drumming and seeing the museum all done has made me super excited to be along for the ride
Keep it up! 🙌
Absolutely brilliant. Well done mate. I need to show my old man this. At 77 he's still playing ..
Listening to how he speaks with such joy and pride makes me teary eyed. I wish I could hug this man.
Is that the giant mp3 player on your office? Well then giant congrats on getting the museum going!
As a musician, I am very happy for you for getting a dream palace where you can live with music and even bring others to enjoy it too
This will worth the wait, I assure you, so take your time and enjoy your palace!
Seeing Wade get so happy and giddy over this is so wholesome.
I don't blame you for not having guests. I think a digital museum is pretty cool.
I think almost all of us are here because your insane passion for this thing is crazy. It's wonderful. Congratulations Wade, keep being wild.
It is sad that it cant be open, but it is totally understandable. And the idea of the website is honestly a great compromise, I am so excited to go through that!
As a drummer myself this looks like heaven on earth, congratulations on this incredible room it looks absolutely phenomenal!, I think you should add a section for vintage and old or discontinued drumsticks (if that’s possible) a collab with rdavidr restoring the drums would be incredible, thank you for sharing your Awesome Achievement with us❤️🥁
oh my god thank you for making me realize that we need a dankpods x rdavidr collab
My Uncle passed away a few years ago. He was a huge drummer and was very passionate about them. Thank you for reminding me of him.
It’s so amazing. Every inch is so artfully crafted and wonderfully made with love. Truly the peak of the funny I pod man.
Personally, I'm not a big drum guy, but your passion for it and your energy just grabs me in all your videos mate
This is what happens when someone finally catches a break and gets to live their dreams! This sparks joy
Wade is a gift to society. This man is worth everything. What an authentic lad.
Genuinely excited about browsing through and hearing those samples, while simultaneously learning about the equipment it was played on.
That INDE drum looks amazing and I'm sure sounds even better! I got to check out their booth at PASIC 2022 and I'm really hoping to pick up one of their aluminum Wayfarer kits before too long. Really happy for you man, cool to see such a passionate individual getting the opportunity to build his dream!
As a fellow percussionist, I want to thank you for the work you are doing to preserve and share drum history. I know there are organizations like the Percussive Arts Society that are trying to do the same thing but they also try to keep it for themselves behind glass and paywalls that prevent it from being shared. You are doing an amazing service for all current and future percussionists by curating and sharing the contents of your collection. I can't wait to see what you have in store for us. Enjoy your time off, good sir. You have earned it.
I'm swooning over that Yamaha kit with the 2002's.
It makes me SO HAPPY to see you still have the giant nug in your office space. Its so cool to see what you've been working on and how things are going for you Wade! You can absolutely tell this was a long time coming.
Your passion is contagious, I'm not big on drums I could listen to you talk about them all day. People with real passion (also good editing and charisma) are hard to find on youtube anymore
I have never been particularly in to drums or anything but Wade’s enthusiasm has sucked me in. Love Dank Pods, love Garbage Time, love this. I think he could make me watch anything. He is such a charismatic, funny, interesting dude.
wow as a drummer its very special to me to see this place and if I were you it would be my paradise too and cant wait for the drum samples website for my electric drums
This is the coolest drum studio of all time!
This room is crazy awesome. I’ve realized how addictive buying drum stuff is once I went back for my second round of cymbals. This place is awesome congrats.
I am so curious as to how that yellow kit sounds! Well done mate im so glad you have built your own paradise and now we all get to enjoy the fruits of your labour! nice one! Enjoy your holiday! :)
No way I was just thinking about this museum yesterday, looking around youtube wondering if it would ever be complete. what timing!! looks inCRedible!! wow well done!
Drums are one of my ultimate passions so seeing your museum and channel blossom is really exciting!
This one man operation puts a lot of local community museums to shame. Incredibly impressive, your passion for the drum kit as an instrument just oozes out of every single thing. Maybe in the far distant future you can get a building for a museum open to the public. But for now, I can't wait to see where this goes.
Condition consmishon. This is one of the most beautiful, love filled drum collections I have ever seen. I cannot wait to see the upcoming videos and hear the sounds of these kits. You've done something incredible.
Being able to get one shots from these kits would massively helpful. I’m extremely impressed.
This is sick! Glad you're still going strong on the museum idea!
you are an absolute legend. drumming is a huge passion of mine, so i’m immensely grateful for your efforts in preserving and promoting drum history. it’s so rad
Man your passion for drums is contagious, you're an inspiration dude!
This is amazing! Congrats! 🎉
Would love to see a series of you restoring each of the kits - excited for what’s to come!
Thank you for sharing this with us Wade! It's such a beautiful space! And as weird as it is, I'm kind of glad it's not open-door. There's no way I'd be able to get down to Australia, so I'm glad I'm not missing out. And, it makes a little bit more special that we all get to experience it together virtually!
Absolutely thrilled to see what you've done, not only with this but with how each of your channels has grown.
It's honestly one of the coolest things to see you go from broke gig performer, find success over lockdowns, and use that to build something memorable.
Keep that passion, Wade! Couldn't have happened to someone more deserving
Honestly so stoked for the sample library, a scarlet fire cover with crunchy 1930s drums
This is actually so damn awesome mate, I love seeing someone just go all-out with their passion, I get to vicariously experience your excitement!
Enjoy your vacation, Wade! Hard-earned, especially after finishing that incredible museum! Do let us know the highlights when you get back; love a good vacation story
I love those jrums mate 😂 I really love what you're doing here! Having the museum online is the perfect solution anyway, Australia is kinda far for most people, this way we can all visit! What an awesome way to immortalize drum history!
i love how happy you sound. i don’t know much about drums, but i’m incredibly happy for you
Your a legend my guy!
I can’t wait to hear all these across the board! You rule!
This is drum nerd level 100000000 man! Well done for your hard work putting this together and congratulations on what you achieved!
Great work looks awesome 👍
This looks INCREDIBLE, I'd really like to start drumming someday and seeing the amount of care and effort you've put into your drum career, enough to put together a whole MUSEUM is really exciting and makes me wanna dive into it even more.
the second hand happiness i got from watching this video was freaking unmatched. found dankpods in 2022, then the car channel, then witnessed the birth of The Drum Thing.
i'm proud to see it go this direction. drums are far from my own passions and yet i WANT to learn more now, you make it interesting
thank you for all the great content and congrats, can't wait for more. take it easy
This is beautiful Wade! So happy for you 😊
Happy for you man, looks awesome 🤘
I just realized while watching The Hindley Street Country Club they are in your neck of the woods. I'd love to see you play with them!
It makes me so happy to see you do this, with how insanely much stuff there is to show around. Love hearing people about their passionate hobbies.
Beautiful.
Brilliant. Love your passion.
VERY excited for those sweet, sweet drum samples. Thanks for putting all this together.
This is epic. Love your work
Your drum museum looks amazing!! Love the old vintage drums Hopefully you’ll make great music in the room!!
Huge congrats!
this is absolutely amazing.. the room, the website, all of it! im so glad ur happy and keep making this amazing content
This is absolutely incredible!
I love hearing your passion. It's really great.
That was one of the best videos I have ever seen mate!! Congratulations!! You deserve all of this and your passion for all things drums is absolutely contagious!! I look forward to more! Cheers!
The amount of work you're putting into so many different things is super inspiring, makes me feel like I could be doing so much more with my time so thankyou :)
This is the definition of an awesome passion project!
Very cool sir, you’ve worked hard at your passion and it’s paid off big time! Thanks for sharing
Thanks for the update and all the hard work on all your channels and the website have fun on the vacation we'll be here when you get back!
Your enthusiasm is dangerously contagious. Never change.
Your love and passion is infectious! I am so happy that you're so happy with this project!!
This is so cool, looking forward to exploring the website when it's launched! I know very little about drums but this channel has been so interesting to follow, I hope you have a good break and I'm excited to see the future developments of The Drum Thing!
this is AMAZING to see this far along- good luck with any future finds and recording everything dude.
It would be sick (and very high effort) to make sample libraries for drum vsts and stuff considering how many unique pieces you’ve got
Excellent mate! Can't hardly wait for more!
