Just a voice backed up by a guitar and keyboard but end result is so rich and profound. From a distance is just captivating. JH piano work adds to the powerful rendition of the song. The other songs are no less powerful and this is a real treat to listen to. The music just washes over you leaving you so blessed. Txs Nanci where ever you are.
I always thought this was her best album. It's the one that made me a fan, a big fan for 5 years or so. I basically like her stuff up to 1990, then, not so much
So is Hank Williams- Gone For a time she was my favorite singer and as is the case with most singer songwriters, their earlier stuff is usually much better than their later stuff, perhaps because their early stuff corresponds with a huge lifestyle change which gives them a big energy boost. Also the Newness wears off and touring becomes a job as opposed to an experience. The songwriting of John Prine is a great example. His early stuff was as if God wrote it, wheras the later stuff, the musings of an over the hill talent. Prine should have quit the profession when his health fell apart. Since we didn't, we are left with an over weight mildly talented singer to dwell upon and not the dynamo that characterized the 70's
God I miss you Nanci!

I listened to this late last night, wonderfully soothing. It's amazing how music will heal your soul. ✝💜
