That's so funny. My friend bought one as a joke too. (At least he said it was as a joke.) But he ended up really liking it. He's a big body builder dude and looks so goofy on it.
Lol I know of a fourth guy who did the same. He bought it at an estate sale because it was so cheap. He kept joking about it being his new ride and we all knew he flipped bikes weekly so we expected it to be gone soon as he found a buyer. 4 yrs later he's still riding it. I drove it once and it felt pretty good too be honest. Felt like a lighter goldwing with a higher seating position.

@@sneat2028 people with money to blow but you can get them used in my area for next to nothing like a couple grand. My friend got his for a couple hundred at an estate sale.
When we get older many people end up with arthritis, and it makes riding a regular bike difficult. So in '07 I bought a new Burgman Executive because it was a step through, had a comfortable seat and had decent speed, acceleration and handling. That step through design made it possible to ride, since the arthritis in my hips made it impossible to throw my leg over the bike like I could many years ago when I was younger. Everyone gets old, and many suffer ailments through the so called 'golden' years. So while it may not be cool for a younger person to ride a scooter like a Burgman, it does allow some of us older riders to enjoy many of the aspects and freedom of riding!
I agree. I have a Kawasaki Vulcan 1600 cc. I am almost 60 and thinking of getting a big scooter. We rode the Piaggio MP3 Wheeler 400 cc in Italy for a week. SO fun and so easy in corners etc. One guy with us had a Burgman 650 and he loved it too. I did not get to ride it, but I could see how fast it was. All the bigger scooters have really comfy seats now too. I don't have arthritis...yet... but I totally see your point about the step through.
@@albauters1 I am almost 70 and riding a Kawasaki Vulcan Voyager. Its starting to get a bit heavy so I may down size to a smaller Honda. But no scooters....Ha!
anything with two wheels is a blast to ride. only the most diehard bike enthusiasts will understand that.

I bought my Burgman 650 around 2006. I still have it until this day and I LOVE riding it.
My wife had the 450. It was so balanced, and smooth. Never a single problem with it in 35,000 miles.

Funny it accelerated faster then you were ready to shift. The little wheels will stop it from being good long range BUT I'm sure they are perfect in town.
I saw a *Suzuki Bergman 650* on a sidewalk in North Carolina once and I was in the market for one at the time.
But after seeing that one I am glad I did not buy one.
Why - My 1st impression was: "That is a fat, ugly scooter". The second was: "That is a very fat, very ugly scooter".
Performance is probably good & the utility in all weather conditions is probably great. But even though I am 56 years old, the overweight looks & huge area the scooter takes up is a serious downer.
I bought a motorcycle with saddlebags instead.

I find it funny that most "motorcycle guys" have no clue when getting on a dirt bike. Go ride some trails and mud before you get all high and mighty. I've had a little 50cc scooter that I installed 82cc head/piston/exhaust and such on. It was crazy fun to scoot around on in town. Put gas in it once every couple of weeks. Hand it off to friends without getting nervous. Once you get past what other people think life gets a lot more fun.
After 35 years on Harley, I finally sold my Roadglide and went with a Burgman 400. So
Much fun. Does well on the interstates. Rides great all around. My hips are shot. So this makes riding fun again. This 650 must be amazing.
I rode my 98 Road glide for years and pulled a big trailer. The seat height got the best of me with age. I'm looking at the 650. I hate not riding. That's my thinking time and space:)

Think about it! Apartment door absolutely I do believe that one cause in Japan they use these like cars and put them in there tiny garages and apartments where space is a premium!

I purchased the 2018 model after driving my 2008 model for years, and then recently sold it. I have driven every motorcycle on the market since 1965, from Honda's to Harley's. I average about 8 thousand miles a year, and that's all local riding for the most part. After having a total knee replacement in 2009 in May, I knew two things: 1... I would miss out a half summer of riding because I couldn't through my leg over my motorcycle, and 2... I've never give a damned what people thought of me. So I walked in to a dealer that I've dealt with for 35 years and he had a while 650 Burgman with 4000 miles. I told him that I wanted to try it out. He said "I've known you for 35 years and I know you wont like a scooter". I said, "we'll see". I took it out for 15 mines and LOVED it! It's SO fast that you wouldn't believe it. I've raced 3 Harley 1200s with stock carbs and beat them all. The first thing ALL motorcycle riders will do when riding the scooter is squeeze the clutch lever. WAIT! That's not the clutch! That's the brake! It's a habit that will take a good rider just a few minutes to get past. After that, the Burgman is without a doubt, the BEST two wheels that I have EVER ridden! No Harley, No Honda... NOTHING can beat it for comfort and rideability. I've said to myself many times over that years that I should have bought a Burgman 3 motorcycles ago! Anyway, I loved it so much that I bought a brand new one this past Spring. I dont consider this to be a "scooter". It's big, it's bad, and it's FAST. So if you're looking for something that's easy to ride (no foot controls whatsoever. Just hand throttle and hand brakes) super smooth and fast. Can tear up the curves because the center of gravity is so low, then I highly recommend the Burgman.

yes scooters are great had a Yamaha 400 and loved it, but like to do some dirt roads and trails so need a little more ground clearance and skinny tires, so am going to CB 500 X 2019. But even my 400 Yamaha would leave many bikes behind on the windy roads, and it topped out over 160 kph. not bad for a 400.
Open mind, that's what we all need! I have a Triumph AND a Honda scooter in my garage and love them both for different reasons.
Reviewers never seem to mention that the 650 Burgman has overdrive. Once you're on the highway and reach 100 kmph put the bike in manual mode, then paddle up to 6th gear which is overdrive. The bike will drop 500 rpm and purr like a kitten at 120 kmph. Make sure to go back into automatic mode if your speed drops below 90 kmph or the bike will lug.
Why ? Why not just use the Automatic Mode, full time ?
@@intergalacticbasketballdro7186 You can use automatic mode full time if you want, but you cannot access overdive in automatic mode. Only in overdrive will your RPM's drop at high speeds. It's easier on the engine and you save fuel.
When i switch to manual at highway speeds it shows I'm in 6th gear already
My Burgman is the best touring bike I have ever owned... and yes I have had Goldwings among other higher displacement bikes. It handles well, has 62 liters of storage under the seat. A glove box and two storage compartments in the dash. It is comfortable because you can put your legs in many different positions. Low center of gravity. Smooth as silk. Quiet. I can ride 500 miles in a day and could keep going comfortably if I wanted to. Can handle two up riding easily. It's a great bike.
@Nomen Clature Yes Sir. I added a top case too and some hard bags. I had 200 liters of storage. The center of gravity is super low. Handles great. Usable torque range. Just an all around great bike.
The Burgman is a beast! Hubby and I have owned two 200's, two 400's and we still have a 650 😍

Previous owner of a 2007 Burgman 650. You failed to mention the cavern under the seat. Holds two full size lids, with enough room left over for snacks. I've brought home a weeks worth of groceries. That's more than I can carry in my Wing!
Yep; huge cargo bin. I once did an Iron Butt Border-to-Border attempt from Vancouver, BC to Tijuana, Mexico (I didn't make it in 24 hours due to hitting an oil slick in Coalinga, CA that required repair work at a dealership), and I had all my toiletries, change of clothing, rain gear, camera, etc. under the seat. On my way home to Seattle I stopped at a hotel in Redding where there were several touring riders on conventional bikes, and when they saw my Washington plates and no visible suitcases or backpacks they were somewhat curious. When I lifted the seat and started pulling out all my gear and laying it on the sidewalk they were dumbstruck.

I need one of these to deliver food with! I live down south it’s warm most of the time but rains all the damn time! Long as the food didn’t get messed up that’s all that matters. I could just hop in my car when I got back may have to change clothes but I’m thinking long as you kept moving it wouldn’t be that bad not sure.
My CB600 could hold at least 3 packs of gum under the seat... so there!
@@tammyforbes2101 It is great for that. I've used mine for Meals on Wheels many years! Three times a week I deliver about 5-6 meals, all nicely carried under the seat.
The retractable mirrors are for lane splitting where that's legal to do. These things are for long highway hauls, even seen them outfitted with a trailer. People who buy them know what's up.
And for parking in tight spaces in Paris.

But it’s not. Technically, if you can step through it, i.e., no frame in the way, it’s a scooter. Motorcycles have “full” frames. Everyone outside the US is just wrong and they can get over it. A licensing requirement does NOT a motorcycle make.

I've owned a Burgman 650 and can vouch for this machine. Ridden it through 13 states and up to Toronto, Canada. Taken it to 100 mph many times with no problem. Smooth, amazingly comfortable, huge storage and very reliable. At over 600 pounds, it is superb at holding the road. Despite riding a Goldwing now...I still take it out for a spin from time to time. I highly recommend the Burgman. And sorry guy...it IS a motorcycle...just look up the definition. :-)

@@thehooptytube It handles very well in the twisties. As far as unpaved roads go, anything up to logging roads is fine. I rode smaller scooters over a lot of gravel roads with more confidence than I would a sport-touring or even adventure-touring bike.

I bought a Burgman 650 Executive about 3 years ago and absolutely love it... Its affordable, versatile, comfortable and fun. I didnt buy it to race Harleys or lane split. I love the history and legacy of HD and other big engine touring bikes...but I wasnt interested in going in debt to purchase! Also burning my behind in the summer engine heat. Buying a HD is like purchasing an I phone...its a fashion statement.....look at me!....all in all...its a great bike....twist and go.......!
That's why you get an older one with the EVOLUTION motor. Reliable a d can be had at around 5k or less if ya look hard enough. Although I was looking at Silverwings and Burgmans too.

Nothing wrong with a practical two wheeled vehicle that can filter through city traffic and park for free. Having plenty of storage space is a huge selling point. Just loved the wiggly ears, sorry, mirrors.

Me too. Got a 125cc twist and go for urban riding/commuting, Got a 750cc sports tourer as a hobby vehicle. If I am honest the 125cc is just as much fun.

We had a kymco 200, a kymco 300i and now a xmax300. My wife commutes a short distance and the scooter is a perfect option to taking the car.i dont ride anymore, but occasionally take the scooter out for a run.
This video is over 2 years old. Don't know how I missed it until now. In 2015 I bought a 2008 Burgman 400. My wife and I rode over 1500 miles to Colorado and back. The next year we went from Texas to Cincinnati and back. The next year, we decided why not. We drove from Texas to Washington State, down the West Coast to San Francisco, Las Vegas, Grand Canyon and back to Texas. These bikes are super comfy, have great power (even the 400 with two up) and are loads of fun. I still feel like people are like, why a scooter, and don't give me respect? But I just remember how much fun I am having. We bought a 2007 Yamaha Royal Star motorcycle and went to Washington D.C. and down the East Coast in 2018. It was fun but not as fun, and on our way back through Texas my wife almost had a heat stroke from the engine/exhaust heat coming off the bike onto her. You don't get that with a scooter.
Another thing you don't get is your boots full with water if you go though a puddle.

My favorite thing about my Burgman 650 is the seating position, feet to the slight front of you, and bars at such a nice position, I even sold my Goldwing and kept my Burgman.
You should have shown huge storage compartment under the seat. That a big selling point.

@@mr7wi after that last reply, yours was kinda dark lol. but on a serious note, had an accident late last year car driver pulled out on me from a junction 2 months in hospitals,6 operations to date, provide fracture, dislocated hip, damaged knee, nerves and dropped foot, along with limited sensation in lower leg etc, was looking@one of these as no fit controls, of I've got to give up ahem bikes at least don't he to lose out enormously on performer .

I rode one two years ago! While my 72 Norton 810 was in the shop! It’s a mind blowing experience! It’s a cross between a motorcycle and a scooter. It’s so much more than either. Stable, comfortable, powerful and quiet! It’s in its own class.
Great review. I get a lot of astonishment from people when I ride my Burgman. I go riding with friends who have Harley's, cruisers, KTM, BMWs, etc... They are always surprised at how easily I keep up with them. Then when we stop to eat, they are envious that I can stash all my gear inside it. For me, I use it mostly to commute and its the perfect city with freeways commuter, but I love that I can go on long rides all over the state with anyone.

I honestly don't know why more people don't commute on two wheels, with these scooters there is no excuse!
My father was a life long BMW rider, an avid touring rider. One day I came by the house and there, to my total shock was a 650 Burgman sitting in the garage. Actually, Dad hadn't been riding BMW's for a number of years. As time went on, BMW's got heavier, harder to work on, and a lot more expensive so he took to riding smaller, lighter machines. He settled on a 650cc single cylinder standard motorcycle called an MZ and loved it. So, as I said, I dropped by the house and there's this Suzuki Burgman scooter. Turns out, he was finding it harder and harder to swing his leg over the MZ, especially when he had it loaded up for a trip. He had heard about the Burgman, checked it out, and bought one. He rode that bike all over the US for the next 7 to 8 years and loved it. It was still a 650 so I figured, that the heck! One thing about it though, while it is definitely styled like a scooter, it's not a conventional scooter. Traditional scooters, like the old Vespas and smaller Yamaha's and Honda's have the engine and drive train built into the rear suspension and swing arm. Suzuki's 650 Burgman's engine and transmission are laid out more like a true motorcycle with the engine and transmission forward under the foot boards. The interesting part is the final drive. It's not a belt or shaft as you might imagine but a set of gears placed in order from the output shaft of the transmission back to the rear tire. It's strange but it works. That Suzuki wound up being my Dad's last motorcycle that he did any significant distance riding on. It was a good bike for him.
Ive had most every bike out there. I test rode one of these not long ago and was very impressed. Just might add one to my collection. I was very impressed.
The Burgman 650 is a fine little machine and is much more capable than it's "scooter" persona would imply. I got to ride my fathers a couple of times through the years. I wasn't totally comfortable on it basically because of a lack of experience with it but I could see why my Dad liked it.
You're so right. By today's standards the Burgman is a relatively simple bike. The power-train layout is traditional and down low. The styling is more like a motorcycle with a relaxed position for the rider and passenger. That plus the fact that in almost all cases, just as reliable as a hammer. I don't mind doing some wrench time but as I get older, riding time is far more enjoyable than wrenching. One of the things that did sell me was the final drive. No belt, no chain and aside from an oil check on occasion, maintenance free. Gears spinning in oil. Whuda thunk it?? I have another sport touring bike again as my riding habits have again changed but the Burgman has a place in my garage still. I get a fair amount of ribbing when I ride on some benefit rides but when out of the group it takes a pretty good sport bike to get away from me. They ain't fast by any standard I know of but there are a lot more popular slower bikes out there. All that and I can bring home a weeks worth of groceries without even thinking about where to carry them.
Steven, don't feel the need to make excuses for him riding a scooter ("It was still a 650...it's not a conventional scooter...")
It doesn't matter what he rode, whether it was a tiny Honda Monkey bike or a 2300cc Triumph. The important thing is he was still out there enjoying the road.
You need to do a road trip on a big scooter. Not to prove anything to anyone but yourself. Riding a scooter (big or small) does not define your sexuality, just as riding a Harley doesn't make you tough.
I'm proud of your father; he changed machines to reflect his ability. In doing so he managed to keep riding. More the power to him.
@@68404 - wow dude. You really know how to read a LOT of BS into stuff I never said. I wasn't making excuses for my Dad in any way, shape, or form. The bike he traded off of to get the Suzuki was a 650. Until he rode the Burgman home, I didn't know they made a scooter styled bike with that big an engine. I was just glad it had the same displacement range as the bike he got rid of. I didn't want to see him riding cross country on something 400cc's or smaller. It can be done, but I was a lot more comfortable knowing he was on something that had a little better chance of keeping up with traffic. And where in the world did I say anything about sexuality?? That's your interpretation. Please don't try to lay it on me. Given the overall tone of your reply, I think we're probably not that far apart in our attitudes in such things. I don't care who you are or what you ride. One doesn't have anything to do with the other. That you "ride," is the important part! My Dad rode as long as he could. I will always be proud of that. The part that I was even more proud of, was the fact that he was sharp enough to recognize when it was time to give it up. One thing I most dreaded was the possibility of having to fight him to get him to quit riding but that situation never materialized. He did it on his own and I will forever be grateful for that. I lost my Dad on December 15, 2016. Watching Srkcycle's video on the 650 Burgman just brought back a lot of great memories. That's why I felt compelled to respond here.
Requirements for my taste:
1) Gets from Point A to Point B.
2) Makes the trip enjoyable.
If I had the money, I would buy either one of these scooters or a Can Am Ryker, which in my mind has an additional ''cool'' factor. Ride what you want to ride. Ride what you love to ride. Ride because you love riding.
I have always enjoyed scooters and found them to be more than enough for most people needing to get around town.
650 cc should get you round town ,
I've ridden the 400 and the Executive. I'm a traditional motorcycle rider, myself. But I always get excited when I see a Burgman either on the road or parked in the lot. My mom still has the Executive as a trike, no less. I'm a big fan of them. I think they have a place in just about any stable.
I have a 2015 650 and love it. Quiet. Smooth. Drive interstate speeds. great to run to the store. Such a blast to ride. Upgraded the windshield. Added some farkels. and BOOM! Love this bike. I have others but it gets most of my time.
And yes, the Speedo is off 6-10 mph at higher speeds. Some people darkside or go with a larger tire and say it corrects it. There are methods of correcting. I just use a GPS and it shows me the actual speed I'm going.

What are farkels and which windshield did you buy? I'm looking to buy my neighbors 2014 650 abs but she's asking 5800 with 15k miles
Does it hold up well and not breakdown all the time? I had a vespa 150 and it has problems overheating and didn't like to go more than 15 miles at a time.
I have rode bikes for years and this year took the plunge into scooter territory ..Got myself the burgman 650 and use it for comuting to work and longer highway runs two up with the wife on board ...brilliant handling machine and for me a revelation...only downside is the snotty attitude from other riders who deem scooter riders not worthy enough for a nod or chat .....I took great delight the other day thrashing a big tourer...
it's difficult to know if a scooter rider will nod back at you or will have no clue what you just did haha
They need to rely on the attitude because they cannot rely on their Harleys.

Fun fact. In the UK in the 60s, scooter riders were known as Mods and bikers were Rockers. Mods modified their scoots with performance mods and decorated their scoots. They'd war with the Rockers who all wore leather jackets and had doo woo haircuts, listened to rock n roll music and rode BSAs and Triumphs.

Scooters aren't cool in the US mainly because for most riders their motorcycle is a hobby, it's not their primary or only transportation.
Negative, scooters are cool in the US.
They are not as popular in the less progressive cities or towns, but in the Carolina's, New York, LA , San Fransisco, but in Mississippi and Alabama etc. they are a bit slow as those places are in every thing else.
Scooters are more popular than motorcycles in every other part of the world.
I think there's a lot of riders (especially the boomer Harley guys) who think because they got this huge expensive machine they take out when the weather's nice they can look down on people who ride anything different. It's kind of a bummer.
But hey! You're riding a motorcycle and since when is that about caring what other people think?

@@zugmeister314 I'm a boomer (70) but never got the Harley thing. Came up through scooters, but like the handling of bikes, too. So I got a used Aprilia Mana GT. It even has storage for my helmet in the "tank". I wonder if my fellow seniors are still living the myth of Easy Rider--- the knight on a horse. They couldn't get their rocks off on D&D or video games growing up because those things didn't exist. So they rode Harleys.
Scooters are much more nimble than motorcycles because the engine is longitudinal and at the bottom of the bike.

'13 Burgman 650 owner here. Like others, I've ridden many bikes in my 61 years. This is the best one-up touring bike....EVER. Don't need to buy bags/panniers/top cases. Just throw your duffel under the seat and you are good for 2 weeks. 70mph all day long, getting 54mpg. Backroads 55mph, getting 65mpg. I can leave Harleys in my rear view mirror, no problem. Weather protection is superlative. Going crosscountry your WILL encounter rain. No problem on this bike, just keep riding til you're out of it, and you'll come out with wet elbows. I've ridden this "scooter" all over these United States, Canada, and into Mexico. At the end of the day, I just want more riding. It's that comfortable. So smooth I can drink my Starbucks latte on the interstate (yes, I have a cup holder). And the storage compartments in the dash? Man, you'd never believe how convenient those are for shades, wallet, maps, bottles of water, phone chargers, etc, etc. And reliability? Oil and tires, that's it. Best touring bike I've ever owned. No need to go back to a regular bike.

I just bought a burgman 200 and drove it on the interstate for 140 miles. I was jostled by the wind but I held on. I was not disappointed! I did 60-80 mph as I was being thrown around by the wind. I was passing cars and owning the road like a boss with this tiny 200. I love this machine.
I ride a hyabusa,and a TMAX. The TMAX is way superior for daily commuting on freeways & the odd bit of city streets. The Haya is a beast for the open road & weekend warrioring...😁😎😁

I own a 99 busa myself. I also have a piaggio 500 MP3. I also love my hayabusa but the 500 MP3 is a blast to ride. I put forward pegs on it and being able to stretch my legs makes a hide differences my next buy is the Honda nm4. Give it some mods and it should reach 120mph all day long. Gotta love the freedom of the ride.

Reminds me of the first time I rode the Honda Helix in '86, was the best scooter of it's day, in my opinion....Now, all these 30+ yrs later, I'll have to check out this Suzuki....
Just bought the new 400 abs for the wife and rode it about 70 miles home. I rode on the freeway at over 70mph with no problems and it rides and handles very well. Took through some twisties on back roads also on way home and it is very nimble. Not being able to clamp my knees around the tank felt weird. Took only a fifth of a tank of gas to get home. I think my wife is going to love this. She already has her endorsement so learning the new hand controls will just take time.
I've had 3 of them and loved everyone of them and I still have one. They are an engineering marvel. So enjoy what you have missed, you won't be disappointed...
I've owned around 50 bikes over the years, sometimes a big bike and a 200cc scoot for around town at the same time but recently I picked up a second hand Honda Integra 700 and will probably never go back to riding anything else other than another new big scooter. I absolutely love every minute I ride this bike.

My wife had one it will fool you. It got up to speed quickly so It can surprisingly keep up with bigger bikes. Its silky smooth and with that CVT transmission it never seems to working hard. In power mode I believe it has a series of pulleys that electronically changed positions for a quicker response which also created higher RPM's. My wife lost interest in riding it so I sold it. But it was trouble free and ran perfectly. Its a very well made machine.

Always love your videos, Sean! Especially appreciate the Words of Wisdom. Not an owner of a scooter, but have ridden several nice ones. The operative word for them is “fun”, I believe. It opens up the fun of riding to so many people who would be intimidated by shifting, or a bike with higher center of gravity ... I know my sister loves to ride scooters, and she would never dream of handling a cycle. Also, you mentioned the “economy “ leaves - that is a major benefit of tooling around on a Burgman or the like - the mpgs can be amazing - they just go and go on a gallon of gas ... After owning Suzuki and Honda 1000s I went to the Burgy 650 and that was tops. So comfortable and easy to ride. I never before put 22K miles on any one bike but that was a breeze.

I had the bergman 400. First bike ever owned. Had almost 80k on it when I traded it in. I had of course had the tires go put on every so.ofyen but the drive belt was the only major thing I had go do was replace the drive belt. Loved thst 400.
My brother and I went to dealership and got a super sport bike and bergman 650. We had fun with both. I can honestly say, the bergman 650 moves fast. Will keep up with any bike out there while being comfortable.
Tht Burgman is a serious machine. I have a 07 burgman 400 & dnt be fooled, tht 400 moves. I also ride & own 2 other cruiser motorcycles & I can honestly say that the suzuki burgman will hold up @ any highway speeds. Just bcuz the bike doesn't have loud cruiser pipes it doesn't mean tht u cnt ride or enjoy it. It will definitely surprise u.

These really are exceptional bikes. There are guys out there that have put big touring miles on these things and I have never heard of anyone having any mechanical problems with one. Kind of like a Victory I guess, bullet proof.
I have had two Vics and two Burg 650s. My Vic Vision is the most comfortable, best handling, and reliable Vtwin tourer I have owned and my Burg is likewise the best in its class. I do enjoy watching my fellow club members work hard to keep up with the Burgman when I use it to lead a group ride. They don’t say a word. 😉😎
I've been riding a Burgman 650 for a few years now and love it. We tour all over the place on it.
I had a 125 Burgman for a year and thought it was great. Never tried one of these, but I researched enough to get an idea of how good they are. And just as well you covered up the speedo!
I was riding with my friend who has one of these. I laughed at him. He passed me, super fast, on a twisty back road. I looked down at my spedo and I was going 100 mph. That convinced me.
Had a 2010 Exec and miss it dearly. A relative totaled it. I also have a GL1500 Gold Wing and Yamaha 650 Maxim. The Suzuki is great as a commuter. When you have stop and go traffic, the CVT is great. When they have factory cruise control, I'll buy another one.
Don't let relatives ride your machines.
It's a feet -forward motorcycle with wind protection, great braking and handling, and a superb engine and transmission. What's not to like?
I have the burgman 400 and it is a BEAST. I was pleasantly surprised I was able to keep up with or even outrun people on Harleys, sport bikes, bigger touring bikes, and even some modded cars. All within reason of course. So underrated and many people don’t seem to know about them
I have one. Had it since 2017. Its superb. Love evey minute im on it. I use the retracting mirrors ALL the time for filtering. The storage is huge! There is nothing else compares to it. ❤
Scooters are underrated. Comfort, convenience, and good mileage. Ugly? Yes, unless you mod the life out of it. But so relaxing to drive.

There was a bit of a boom for a while here in Puerto Rico with the off-brand GY6 Chinese scooters. The aftermarket for it was huge with parts from Taiwan. As far as big scooters tho, it never really caught on. I’m a huge fan of the big japanese custom scooter scene. Wish we had em, I’d love to load one out with toys 😈
I traded in a sport touring bike on a new Burgman in 2017. My work had changed and the majority of my riding time was going to be commuting so I thought a new Burgman would be the answer. After a year and a few months of ownership and 25K miles, I had to admit they are the best commuter out there and a more than capable tourer. I did several 750 mile days with no problem at highway speeds plus a little more and had enough in reserve to feel comfortable even in west Texas traffic. The hardest part of riding a Burgman is checking that ego before you get on. It's two wheels and faster than many other bikes and more comfortable than most. Add electronic cruise control and a radio and it would be perfect. Keep up the good videos and the words of wisdom. You never know who really is in need of the message.

I was close to buying a 650 Berg as well. Till I test drove a Toyota 86. I appreciate the environmental comforts to A.C. And heat. Both are a HOOT!
@@garbinator09 Hot air when it is cold and cold air when it is hot are both overrated. That is why we ride. But on a serious note, the Burgman protects you fairly well on both ends of the spectrum. You are not blasted by heat rejection from the engine or blasted by air around the windshield. The lower body protection is second to none. The upper body even with a stock windscreen is pretty good. Throw a few $$ for some farkles (read that windshield) on it and you will barely feel a breeze as you fly down the highway at warp speed.
Ken Nolte - I liked the 650 when I test rode it. I think the wife talked me out of it. At 64, I believe I just don’t want to go through another collision again. I don’t heal up like I used too. New tech is seriously wonderful I believe.

I’m in my 60s and I tried a BMW C400GT scooter. It put such a big smile on my face, I bought it! Easy to get on and off, perfect for in town commute as no shifting! This was so light, just easy to navigate through parking lots and in slow residential areas. Easy to load on my trailer behind RV. Who would have thought that a “Scooter” would be such fun!

So BMW can't be bothered to install a power windscreen on their 25 grand R1200GS ADV bikes, but Suzuki puts like the best power windscreen ever on an 11 grand scooter (yes a new Burgman 650 is that expensive). You could easily tour on that thing, and I've seen people with touring setups on them. The ultimate sleeper, looks as dorky as any scooter, but will pull away from a lot of cruisers, and will outcorner most cruisers haha, also has the room, storage and highway performance to tour haha.
Used to tour two up with camping gear on my Mk 1 Burgman 400 no problems.
I would love to see a sleeper trailer mounted on the back of a Burgman 650.That would be great for a New York to Florida run.
Actually i think the Burgman is pretty futuristic and cool looking.

I had a 650 Burgman just like that one. I have a biker bar 2 miles from my house. Whenever I got on the burgman, I would head over to the bar. I would wait for a Harley to leave and pull out behind him and pass him in front of all the guys out front. The guy would get on it and chase me I would leave him in the dust. Racing Harleys was my favorite pastime on the Burgman. I never even had one come close to beating me. I have owned many motorcycles and had my own repair shop for a few years so I can honestly say this is an unbiased opinion.

I've been riding for 35 years and for me, as far a daily riders go, scooters are superior for around town work. You can actually carry stuff on a scooter!
Rode one. Great ride surprisingly fast.
Scooters are amazingly practical and comfortable machines cf. motorcycles. Had a 500 TMax and it was great. Riding in the rain you stay almost completely dry, as well as having very useful storage space under the seat for gear, shopping etc. The TMax also goes around the corners as if on rails and is as comfortable as your favourite armchair, while beating most things away from the lights.

In traffic you can't beat maxi scooters. Best urban bikes around. Tons of storage, nimble as hell, and plenty of highway power. Suckers will do well over 100 miles an hour. Also a great way to transition to motorcycles. Much safer (IMO), to learn to navigate traffic without the distraction of shifting gears. I had a Burgman 400 for a few years. Loved the damn thing. I ride a cruiser now, but have a soft spot for the big scoots.
I never could stand an automatic transmission on a two wheeler. You have less control over the vehicle. I don't have any issues with it being a scooter and could see myself buying one if Suzuki would pony up the R&D money to develop a CVT model. It is the only way to retain any real sort of predictable controlability.

I own a Yamaha sport/touring 1100 cc shaft-driven mc and, I also own a scooter. A friend of mine, a big biker, who rode in motorcycle gangs, sort of mocked my scooter. Then he took it for a test drive. When I bought a new scooter, he bought my old one off of me. Scooters are a hell of a lot of fun and that is why he fell in love with the scooter. Personally, I use the scooter for taking my dog for a ride. My dog sits on that little platform on the floor. He sits there between my legs and he is so use to the scooter, that when I go around a corner so fast and on such a steep lean angle (I have had the rear wheel slip out from under me), that my dog does not even budge. Say what you want about scooters, but they are a hell of a lot of fun to ride.
Burgs are pretty quick and alot of fun. I sold mine 2 years ago and still miss it.
The Suzuki Burgman 650 is my next Scooter.It is a rocket.Very smooth cornering .I also believe it has heated seats and grips.great when your doing 65 to 70 mph down the road when the temps is hovering about 40 to 45 degs.
awesome model, only thing you have to get use to is how it interacts at highway speed winds/balance. And get use to no clutch. Plenty of power and super comfy
Back in the day, when the Gixxer Slingshot was all the rage, i had the Suzi and a Honda Helix scooter. The Helix was a blast. 75mph top speed was as fast as I'd want to go on a 10" x 2.5" rear rim. And the trunk... huge; perfect for groceries. It held about the same as the panniers on an FJR1300.
I’m now 75 miss riding so much I loved this video hip and leg problems make bikes a no no for me but after watching this I feel there just be some hope for me I’ll just have to investigate maybe I can do some riding with my sons on their big road bikes
I personally have two 650 burgmans and a gen 2 (2013) hayabusa. The burgman 650 is definitely a very comfortable bike. And is guaranteed to get you plenty of looks and stairs 😉...
Have friend that loves scooters AND has the hayabusa which he barely drives.
