His inner monologue that escapes him. His neglect of boundaries and property of others. And his impulsiveness and aggression. All there, condensed in three minutes. Great work.
I’m not Bipolar. But, I do have anxiety and OCD(Obsessive Compulsive Disorder). At first, I thought he just went off the deep end for no reason all because of an inappropriate picture. But, then I realized that he was bipolar which caused his actions and that he was not even on his medication. I pray for you Daniel and I hope you are doing well.
I think he has more of a schizophrenia disorder than bipolar , bipolar can be complicated but Ozarks interpretation of bipolar can be misleading for those who have it or dont
Ben is far from a monster and I think has the most humanity in the show. He’s blunt in his actions because he’ll stop at nothing to stop what he see’s as a problem or a threat, he’s got the most heart and see’s everything for what it truly is.
He even seemed like a solid teacher initially. He acknowledged that algebra wasn't something he'd used in 20 years, he recognized that of course kids are gonna' be shits to him 'cause he's a sub, but still managed to maintain authority. I honestly can't imagine trying to teach in the smartphone age. Even just the fact that it's acceptable for all these kids to have their phones out on their desks to begin with is kind of crazy to me.
Everything he did up to throwing the phones into shredder machine was pretty reasonably handled. When Ben was calm he could handle most things in a rational manner better then other people (including his sister Wendy) but when the rage takes over, he goes way beyond overboard.
I agree with you but I can’t understand some people in this comment section saying Ben is in the right for what he did. He should’ve just confiscated their phones at report them and let someone else deal with it.

Me and my brother love stuff like this and we think it's hilarious :) fits right in with our violent, dark humour.
@@digitalcamaro9708, yeah. But if you're taking Ozark seriously, there's a problem right there. Regardless, since it's laughin' that keeps me from freakin' flipping out, and because I totally understand the teacher's dilemma re kids and their cell phones, I laughed REALLY hard.

The substitute teacher is shown in the top left corner, looking down at the girl. Her legs are straddled against his arms or shoulders. You can see her in the bottom right corner looking up at him. It looks like she's holding her legs up with her arms.
I really need to watch this series now, because this teacher is amazing and stood up for a student was being humiliated by others in her grade and possibly higher grades. I respect him because he cared more for her feeling then anyone else did and showed those horrible teens who just laughed at the photo not to mess with the wrong person because those kids have no empathy what so ever for that poor girl and he took his anger out their phones and the lawn care man. That sub has my vote forever!!!!
Update: okay I agree wit you all, that law care man didn't deserve being hit but I can tell you know ALL of those teens knew and didn't care! THEY ALL got the photo because all of their phones went off completely. But I did read all the opinions and I took them into my thoughts

I like to think Ben did this as way to cause an even bigger scene than that photo leaking. As a means to draw the spotlight off it. Think about it, a guy brings it up at lunch the next period and goes “hey did you see that photo that’s been going around” and the other student will immediately respond “NO DUDE, THE SUB THREW MY PHONE INTO A WOODCHIPPER”
