This is an AMAZING performance. I have attended 2 Pink Floyd concerts (Miami and Cincinnati) and those were the best 2 live concerts I have ever been to. They really put everything into the shows.
Back in O.C. Calif when I was 30 my wife heard a commercial on the radio about a P.F. show coming up. Knowing I am a Floyd fan she called the radio station (KMET - LA, “The Mighty Met”) to get information on the concert, The DJ on live radio Cynthia Fox…. said...."Congratulations, YOU are caller number 10, YOU just won tickets to the show and the Sound Check Party before the show"... I met David Gilmour back stage. He gave us both a signed album that I have in my music room. We talked for 22 minutes. I called him…“The Master Of The Stratocaster” He smiled. I told him his music will stand the test of time with anything from Beethoven or Mozart. He smiled even bigger. I asked if I could shake both his hands that make such great guitar solos, he smiled bigger and said “Sure” and shook both hands at the same time, making a cross between us, I smiled HUGE. Hard to explain how awesome that moment was in my life. I asked him to describe his technique of playing guitar, he replied… “I strike a note, bend it, shake it and then release it”…. Yes, he does that quite well, better than any other guitarist I know. . I told him in my eyes he’s a “Legend“. He thanked me and said “Enjoy the show”…. during the concert after the song “Money” he looked right at me and said…. “On saxophone, another Legend, Mr. Raphael Ravenscroft” … acknowledging my comment to him. It is my favorite moment in over 300 shows I’ve seen. I asked David…. How do you create those awesome solos?… he said….. I sit on a stool and listen to what Roger, Nick and Rick put down and play along. I listen to what I played and pick out what I like, then I put the pieces together into one piece then learn to play it as one. Our fans are fanatics for our shows to sound like the albums so I must play it correctly each time in a show. I have the concert Brochure and album on the wall with David’s picture centerfold.
Was at that show the night they recorded it. Absolutely mind bending, never to be forgotten. As to the fans not knowing was coming, PF since the early days were trailblazers in putting on a "show", always ahead of their time both audibly (sound quality second to none) and visually. My biggest regret was not seeing them again after 94. They world toured with this for some time and I didn't take a chance to see them. Then Rick Wright died and basically PF stopped touring. I've seen some fine bands in my 75 years but none have ever topped Pink Floyd. I still have goosebumps watching the Pulse Dvd.
They were the best shows I have ever seen. The lights, the lasers, the sounds coming from 360 degrees, flying beds, exploding airplanes, flying pigs, video screens, giant disco balls. I never get tired of seeing/experiencing it with new people!
Plus Short And Sweet. As for TNWOOH, UA-cam the original (if you haven't already, R.A) by the group UNICORN, titled No Way Out Of Here. Gilmour produced this song/album (they were mates of his). After the album flopped, David was disheartened that such a great song as this went un-noticed and unheard, so HE covered it! Methinks it's the Best Song on a really good album.
David Gilmour is the master of feel. he can make a guitar talk, cry and sing all at the same time. i have been a floydy for over 50 years now. i flew from Australia in 94 to see the Pulse concert. a life changing experience, i taught myself to play guitar after hearing wish you were here. it's good too see young people getting into Pink Floyd. don't stop your journey has just started😁😁😁
This was the closing number at Pulse, the 3rd of 3 encores, a great ending to a brilliant concert. I was very lucky to get late tickets to this show, wouldn't have missed it for the world.
I saw this concert twice, on May 23 and 24, 1994, Montreal Olympic Stadium. My employer (Labatt Breweries of Canada) was the sponsor for the three shows in Montreal, they were offering employees discounted tickets, in addition to a draw of a few dozen tickets. I bought mine for May 23 and I won those (a pair) for May 24. Some people have asked me, "Why are you going to see this show twice?" When they finally saw the DVD of this show a few years later, they understood why I was there twice.
For this entire show the crowd was "On The Edge Of Our Seats"... while standing the entire time. It was an experience I'll never forget. Fourth time seeing P.F. Live
This was the last encore at Oakland, and they could not have made a better choice for last song. I was very lucky to see it. Stood in line all night for tickets and they still sold out on me. I was lucky to find a guy who bought extra tickets and sold me 3 for $70 each. Best $210 I ever spent.
200,000 watts of power going threw 128 wireless speakers outdoors needed FAA clearance for lasers. 14 days in a row sold out and their last concert. never want to sit in front rows at their concerts. saw 5 TIMES. checkout Dave solo work. Not big production but his playing is unreal " Live at Gdansk" " Live at Pompeii" ( 70 yrs old) and the only person to play there twice since 79.
Interesting fact: At the end of this show at the Olympic Stadium in Montreal, on my way to the parking lot, I passed behind the stadium and there were four trailers equipped with huge industrial generators. I spoke with a member of the staff, who told me that these generators were needed to provide enough electricity for the show, that the stadium could not meet this huge demand.
This is one of my top Pink Floyd songs. Another favorite is The Dogs Of War, it's amazing! And have you done The Great Gig In The Sky? It might be my absolute favorite for its brilliance.
“If your'e taking your girlfriend out tonight, you better park the car way out of sight, because if they catch you in the back seat trying to pick her locks, their going to send you home to mother in a cardboard box......You Better Run”
That's how you end a concert, period. Phenomenal
This followed "Comfortably Numb" so we were already in a trance when they closed the show with this monster performance. .
good job man, you never talk over these performances.
They were ahead of all the other bands in special effects.
Going to see a Pink Floyd concert was the ultimate event.
This is an AMAZING performance. I have attended 2 Pink Floyd concerts (Miami and Cincinnati) and those were the best 2 live concerts I have ever been to. They really put everything into the shows.
I was at Tampa and Orlando. They were outstanding!
I can tell you that the explosion at the end did shake the entire arena to it's foundations. What a gig.
Being lucky enough to be at this gig...it was absolutely amazing, best show I've ever seen.

Watch the video echoes in Pompeii Italy that will truly blow your ever-loving mind Pink Floyd fan since 1971
Great reaction. Give yourself a treat and sit down one night to watch the whole concert from start to finish, you won't regret it.
This is in the end of show..perfect.
Back in 1978, David released a solo album that's very much worth checking out. I particularly like There's No Way Out Of Here and Raise My Rent.

I was so lucky enough to have been there that night.... oh and believe me.. They did all of their concerts like that... Keep on Rocking man.

a good follow-up to this would be "one of these days" from the same concert 🙂
Thanks for not stopping the song and waiting to comment at the end. Well done. Listen to Echoes live at Pompeii

This was their traditional show closeting number.

Sadly this was the last concert they did.
