I bought a lot of accessories for my Model Y and am just now getting around to installing some. I mentioned to a Tesla tech that I was working on another problem with that I was going to install the power frunk. He said to be careful because they had one Model Y come in that the power frunk had failed and they ended up damaging the car to get it open. Have you heard about that? Is there any way to manually open the frunk if something happens to the motor or software? I'm a little leary of installing if that is true. Thanks,
They work perfectly fine and we still use them all the time! There was a scare where I loaded the frunk once, left home and the frunk flew open as I gained speed. Turned out one of the packages I loaded was too tall and the frunk didnt latch on. Something to look out for
It shouldn't. Under the Magnus-Moss Warranty Act, it's only voided if they can prove that the aftermarket parts are defective, weren't installed properly, or caused a failure.
Did you notice a slight elevation of frunk near the hinge areas after install? When I got mine I noticed it slightly higher and not as flushed as the other side.
There wasn't any noticeable change in height after I installed it. Did you check to see if the plastic cover over the air intake was seated higher than before? It might just be misaligned. Can't think of any other reason why if you didn't mess with anything else
Where is the link to the install video you used??
It's in the vid description, here it is: ua-cam.com/video/Z7bvgRQPC6k/v-deo.html
The lid is aluminum which is easily bent.
Yes, frighteningly easy to buckle it under your hands. This alone has made the auto frunk a good idea

Wow! That's really cool!
Thank you!
Great video! How is the power frunk struts holding up after couple of months use?

Informative video, thanks. Is the rubber (?) seal under the frunk OEM? Never seen that before.
Thank you! Everything under the hood apart from the auto frunk opener when this video was shot is original, yes.
Very nice. Will this void warranty?

Also, is your motor noisy? When the soft actuator engages, its really loud in the cabin.

@@ogpunkricker8196 My wife and I haven't noticed any difference in cabin noise after installation
Cool
