- This amazing video documents the story of Wounda, one of the more than 160 chimpanzees living at the Jane Goodall Institute's Tchimpounga Chimpanzee Rehabilitation Center in the Republic of Congo.
Thanks to the expert care provided at Tchimpounga, Wounda overcame significant adversity and illness and was recently relocated to Tchindzoulou Island, one of three islands that are part of the newly expanded sanctuary. Dr. Jane Goodall was on hand to witness Wounda's emotional release, and now you can too.

In my opinion this is truly one of the most beautiful moments caught on film!
That moment when Wounda, reaches around to embrace Jane, I mean, that connection of love between an animal and a human is just magnificent. I wish all of humanity could see the beauty of living a symbiotic life with nature and how wonderful the world could be.
Truly one of the most iconic moments of animal documentary captured on film. Ever.
The level of understanding, Wounda’s “I love you, thank you, I must go now.” Is very clear. What an incredible moment.
Imagine how thankful was Wounda. 98 percent of human dna. Goosbumps
That's the sweetest thing I've ever seen when she hugged Jane like that!! It was like she was thanking her for her freedom and for saving her from dying. Actually all of them that helped nurse her back to health. This foundation is incredible and if it wasn't for this foundation helping so many chimps idk what they would do. Tysm for all you guy's do!! Much love from Tennessee!! ♥️ XOX ♥️
This is so touching. I feel moved to tears by the hug the chimp is giving to Jane. She's a pionneer.
I am crying so hard i don't know what to do with myself. Wounda looked so ill and skinny I felt her pain! When she hugged Jane Goodall it was bitter sweet. I pray they all get released, Please God?!!!
This is so beautiful and powerful. Thank you for all that you do! ❤️
This is my favorite release video ever
An absolute classic release. The soundtrack is lovely as well. If this doesnt attract donations, then I suppose nothing will.
So wonderful hug. So wonderful people.
I love this video I whach many times but I cry any time I see because I am sad😢😢😢😢 he he's human. I love animal. Alot
when she hugged the chimp, I felt a strong connection between Animal and Human.
the homo sapiens needs more people like you, just amazing¡
One of the most powerful and absolutely beautiful video I've ever seen ❤️🧡💛💚💙💜
A tear jerker I cried so amazing knowing freedom was being given to him as well as being healthy he gave his good bye hug
That was a thank you hug.
what the chimp was doing here was getting reassurance.
she was afraid .....overwhelmed and wanted to explore but was unsure of leaving the cage that paradoxically and well understood psychologically brought her security.
well..that embrace from jane told her all was well and with nothing to fear...she did what all wild animals are born to do...find their place in the wild...............
My daughtet is a big fan of you jane goodall
3:39 *very smart to mark her starting point*
This is very painful to watch. After being in captivity for a long time and then released into the wild is unfathomable to me and I just cannot come to terms with it. Tearsssssssssss!!!
It’s a semi-wild sanctuary island… she isn’t alone… there are other chimps on the island that she meets up,with in other videos… the chimps are not just dropped off on the island and left to fend for themselves…
thank you so much for your wonderful work 💓🐒🐵
This is the moment special, for my he say thank, you for everything.
With grammar: This is a special moment. I say thank you for everything.
God bless Jane
I have no heart to leave such a friendly and lovely animal and send him away from me, my heart broken, eyes full of tears at her separation from you
Wonderful good news story! Thank you so much! (♥)
MERCIMADAME , un combat une oeuvre !...
Very sad but exciting moment
Beautiful!
imagine disliking this, you just want to feel different or what ?
She is so lucky...
My God….reaches the soul!!!
I would feed him and feed him and love him and love them and love them and feed them and love them and feed them and love them teach them to climb I would just be there for them these animals deserve it
Kinda restores ones faith in Humanity a little bit.
Astounding !
No me canso de ver este video ❤

Seule la nature et les animaux éveillent en moi des émotions intenses.
Dites moi s'il vous plait, où puis-je vous envoyer des dons ?
Fantastic portrayal but I wonder what the motivation was for releasing an animal into the wild. Did she have: Family? Ability to get her own food? Defensive skills in case she was seen as an interloper? Obviously these people know WAY more than I do, but those are my immediate concerns.
-The chimps are released on the island sanctuaries where they get to live with other chimps and remain in the care of the JGI teams… they get to live as normal semi-wild life as possible on those islands… they are not released "alone" with no where to go… there are other videos of the chimp meeting up with the others on the island…
As long as Jane Goodall has been working around chimpanzees I'm very surprised she still has all 10 fingers. I've known of other primatologist who loose a finger or 2 by chimps within just a few short years.
Hope they micro chipd him..so they can track him and monitor his ability to survive in the wild..also they can help him if he is in trouble..
الحق که انسان؟نمونهای است.
☺️✌🏻👍🏻
This looks more like a bonobo.
let her out!...for gods sake jane yap afterwards!!
