I watched all 3 parts. Really good info. I know many of us will find this very useful. Those internals are so clean I bet you can eat off of them.

Lol..no doubt...I'm totally about testing stuff myself. Been doing it my entire career
The results of salt a way vs rydlme kinda blew me away..I know so many including myself who buy and use it not knowing it's really not all you need...and a used motor you don't know the history on..no problem...compression check and flush 24hrs pH in is pH out is a dinner plate youbcan eat off..lol

Good video, but drop the needless music. Also would have been good to see how much crap got flushed out of the motor into the tub.

Early production..lol..I now only do music at non talking scene's..and mostly in catching fish vids. As far as the stuff flushed out...it's all broken down and changes the PH of the water...you can't see it because it's so small after it's eaten away...which is a good thing. When you flush and the ph does not change it is not breaking anything down because it's all clean...this engine took over night..salt away doesn't work..it gums up thermostats and pop offs..

Hi Steve, thanks for posting. The PH thing is clever. questions: 1/why do most recommend to remove gear case and connect to internal pipe instead of connecting to flush port? 2/ Once I am done with 1 motor can I re-use the mixed solution for 2nd motor or I need to start with fresh mix? I guess the answer is that it depends on how bad 1st motor was... Or same thing but in a more scientifically expressed YOU would say depends on what PH obtained when PH in and PH out became equal on 1st motor. last one/ should I do this as maintenance if I have no overheating even running full throttle for an hour in 87 F sea water or is this a curative procedure only. Thanks a lot!

Hi, Thanks, some dont have a flush port and thats when you can remove gear bottom end, other wise I would use the flush port and take out thermostats if its available. 2nd ya PH would be off from the new, also if it went super high for a long flush its spent I would just get another, but if it barley changes use a bucket and keep using it as a maintenance every 3 or so months. if it was an older motor I would do it once a month to make sure it is all clean inside, but lets face it numbers don't lie, if the PH in is the PH out, its not eating anything away anymore so then its clean. 3rd, you could use it in a flush bucket every time at a 6 or 8 to one ratio and always have it cleaning your engines and never build up at all.. really depends on how long it has to sit without being rinsed after use as well.

@@steveperdueshowtofishingti2172 Hi Steve, first of all thanks for replying so promptly, you know how it is, I thought of descaling my outboards and now I want it done yesterday, however I like to temper a bit and gather as much info as possible and your video was really informative plus you understood what you were on about. My motors are from 2006 with around 1000 hours. The build up is not too bad however there are cooling parts like the gas cooler that is not visible inside without dismantling. I got that boat 3 years ago, it was my working from home covid period project and I have done some good maintenance on it, I have put around 350 hours on it since I got it. Boat is on trailer, used almost every week end and motors are flushed running on ears with tap water every use.

@denislaouenan5553 I would run a d rinse..just rinse when your done and the pH is down to what is in is out..especially older motors..

I enjoy your video... As long as I mute the music... The music ruins your video ...

Haha, I have made many videos since this one.. I have lowered volumes if or when I do use it now. As well as type of video. This is a how-to video and most of them will not have music at all. Mostly in fishing under water scenes or fish on scenes.
The point was and is definitely salt away won't be a cure all, and a flush with a. Acid style cleaner to flush is the best way to keep your engine clean.
      Thanks for feed back.
