My favourite whisky. I always like to have a bottle of this and a bottle of Ardbeg 10 available at all times.

Love this bottle so much. I go back and forth between this and the Ardbeg 10, I really love them both.

PC 10 is one of my favorite Islays. A remarkably good value for a legit bottle.

Just had this for the first time right now. Smokey and sweet were right away obvious, but there was something else going on. Savory and salty were just the right words I got from this video. It's a very pleasant whisky especially for the price. Highly recommended if you like peat in your dram!

I'm just catching up on your reviews now that I have some time off from work. Awesome review! This whisky was the one that made me love peat. My #1 peated whisky to date. Keep the great content up!

Re-aquanting myself with all Islay whiskies after a break of 10 years when I got into wine - was at Bruichladdich before & after it reopened - love this PC 10yo - shame the Port Charlotte Distillery project ended as it would have been interesting to see a peated whisky from the old Ben Wyvis stills 🤔 thanks for the review 👍👍

Good review. I think Port Charlotte is a hidden gem of Islay peated whiskies. In my opinion if compares very favorably to the better know Islays, Ardbeg, Laphroaig, and even Lagavulin. Their Islay Barley variation is even better then the base 10 year old, (again in my opinion), although it is slightly more expensive than the plain 10 year old.

The best Islay 10 for me....have a bottle at home, I like it a lot

I bought my bottle of Port Charlotte 10 for around the same as I paid for a bottle of Corryvreckan. Definitely feel like I overpaid a little, as I enjoy the Corry a good bit more, but I think the PC10 competes really well with the other 10yr Islays. I think I'll get another bottle at some point, just not for the nearly $100 I paid for this one.

Great review, Erik. All bases covered on this wonderful standard bottling. And yes, in my opinion too, this is definitely comparable to an all-time favourite such as the Ardbeg 10. Gotta love it. Cheers.

Port Charlotte 10, given its 50% ABV and unique use of a percentage of wine cask maturation, makes it an excellent value and about the only whisky I'd consider buying from the distillery; with most everything else being rather uneventful or wildly overpriced.

Bruichladdich was one of the Islay distilleries that my tour did not visit. I fondly remember the older bottling of Port Charlotte PC10, and have been able to get their Second Limited Edition PC10 for about the last three years, but the new "Ugly Betty " bottling of PC10 is something that I haven't found on local shelves yet, even though I have been able to get a few rare and hard-to-find Bruichladdich bottles recently, excluding expressions of Octomore which just cost too much.

Bummer you didn't visit Bruichladdich. I'll be doing a competition between 4 Islay 10 Year olds this weekend.

@@ErikWaitWhiskyStudies Bruichladdich was usually on the itinerary with the tour that I went on, but maybe the visitor center was closed because it was the first tour of the year... We went to Bunnahabhain instead, which was not usually on the itinerary. Our tour guide was happy to go to Bunnahabhain for a change, and I was not complaining... Immay catch your competition if it's noit too long. I'm far behind on my watching because I've been very busy at work these past two weeks.

I did a comparison with Ardbeg 10 and liked PC 10 a little bit better. Considering the PC 10 costs about $30 more than Ardbeg 10 in NJ this rates the two as equals in my opinion. The PC 10's 50% abv is nice and the bottle design amuses me …. a nice change from the Ardbeg 10 which is one of my most frequently purchased whiskies.

Good review Eric. I've got a closed bottle that has been sitting in my cellar for the last two years or so. Port charlete 10 v ardbeg 10 would interest me for a future video 👍.

Tryed this at a whisky fair
After corryvrecken...lagavulin 16...perpetuum...nika... some kavalan...glendronach portwood...and it still stood out
    Corryvrecken was better though

Thanks again for another fine review. This one sounds great, and at an honest price. I also love the Ardbeg 10, what a classic! A head-to-head review between these 2 Islay 10 yo’s will be great. I love how professorial you are in your reviews - and by that I mean educational in the best way. I am also impressed by how prolific you are! Keep up the great work please. Thanks!

    I love Port Charlotte.
Speaking within the same distillery: I find the Port Charlotte has a very similar taste profile as many Octomores. Love the stuff - and I’m really looking forward to the comparison with Ardbeg!

I had the Port Charlotte 10 the other night, I loved it but what I got out of it was it's like a Laphroaig 10 with a bit more kick to it whilst also being a bit more rounded. I could have swore Port Charlotte was a lower ABV because it didn't feel like it was 50%

Anyone else get some teriyaki sauce notes? Especially, out of the neck pour?
