Extra: gorilla baby Kiango with mommy Gyasi & big daddy Bao Bao. * Kiango met grote papa Bao Bao.*

September 2 and November 4, 2021.
I made these images with my phone in the indoor enclosure of the gorillas in Apenheul. This was one of the first interactions I saw between Kiango and Bao Bao.
Gorillas in this video:
Silverback Bao Bao (born in the wild in 1985), since 2018 in Apenheul from Taiwan.
Gyasi (born 4/29/2002, died 7/13/2022. Mother of Tayari (now in Taipei Zoo) and Kiango.
Kiango (born 2/21/2021). Son of Bao Bao & Gyasi.
Also visible:
Mandji (born in the wild in 1975). Since 1975 at Apenheul. Mother of a.o. Lukas (now in Tel Aviv Ramat Gan Zoo), Uzuri & Kidogo (both now in Beekse Bergen), Nemsi & Iriki (now in Taipei Zoo).
Nemsi (born 23/8/2001). Mother of M'Zungu (now in Al Ain Zoo).

Deze beelden maakte ik met mijn telefoon in het binnenverblijf van de gorilla's in Apenheul. Dit was een van de eerste interacties tussen Kiango en Bao Bao die ik zag.

Zilverrug Bao Bao (geboren in het wild in 1985), sinds 2018 in Apenheul vanuit Taiwan.
Gyasi (geboren 29/4/2002, overleden 13/7/2022. Moeder van Tayari (nu in Taipei Zoo) en Kiango.
Kiango (geboren 21/2/2021). Zoontje van Bao Bao & Gyasi.

It certainly proves that you will mother your child the way you were raised. Tayari does the same with Jabali.
I've only seen one interaction with dad & Kiango, this was so sweet.

I was a huge G'yasi fan as well and all of the gorillas at Apenheul. Apenheul is the best and their gorilla magic has worked for many, many years. And Tayari, I love her! 😊 She's so playful and fun. I can't look at her without thinking of G'yasi. Jabali looks like them as well! It is 20 years ago I found the gorillas at Apenheul, and I've been in ❤ ever since! I love watching cheeky Kiango grow now. 😂
