The Apenheul gorillas: Gorillababy Kiango in the arms of 'aunt' Nemsi.

- 7/7/2021: We start on the second gorilla island, with the adolescent male Jabari (2012) and his half sisters M'Fugaji (2009) and Chama (2011). Then on to the spot on the big island where the gorillas often stay at the end of the afternoon. Silverback Bao Bao and his wives, Mintha (1974), Mandji (1975), Nemsi (2001) and Gyasi (2002) take it easy. But there is a baby that brings life to the brewery. Little Kiango (21/2/2021) is walking around more and more and he gets to know his groupmates better. And then it can just happen that he is arrested. This time I saw "aunt" Nemsi with a baby for the first time in years. She raised a son herself (M'Zungu, 2011). This was a golden moment!

Love that they have trees to climb and water stream to play in. Love to see Bao Bao and his troop again, esp. the young baby, too. Bao Bao looks a bit tired and aged. He's living by himself for too many years before he came here. Glad now he has a 'family' of his own kind. Best wishes!
I love the the amount of work Apenheul puts into the areas they keep the gorillas in.

I need to visit Apengeul one of the upcoming months.
It's - until now - the best arrangement area for gorillas in a zoo environment that I discovered on UA-cam. What a cute gorilla family.
Until februar 2020 I visited on a daily basis the Momotaro-Genki gorilla family in the Kyoto City Zoo (YT Channel Gorilla Life, Gorilla World. Gorilla house and others) and Liekes' YT-channel. Shabani's family was also one of my favorites.

It is wonderful to know the Apenheul gorilla's family through a detailed introduction you give. The sweet aunt Nemsi loves and kissed Kiango gently. Yes, she is a half-sister of Gyasi. They had the same father.
Is Chama still at Apenheul? Does she have a baby yet? If not, are they intending for her to have one of her own?
Hi Meg, yes, she lives in the second group with M'Fugaji and Jabari. Maybe in the future, I don't know..
