    How brilliant are you!! This is my favourite kind of crafting - using what you have, without the space-hogging/expensive kit (until you know you need it 😉😉). Thanks for posting!💖

    Lady, you get the prize for using the spoon on the embossing card! Totally worked better than a rolling pin. Thanks for sharing. 💕 I can afford one of those machines, but they look like they are heavy and space hoarders. Until I move to a bigger place, I'll use a spoon.

    I love it. I solved my problem with embossing folders by slightly spraying and then stepping on it. I weigh 150 and I have never broke one. I standstill for about 2mins. Walla

    I so needed to see the low tech approach! I don't have a machine and don't plan to get one. This is perfect! TY

    I Love the embossing💕 but I didn't come up with the idea of the die cut without a machine. It wasn't my video I shared. I think metal on metal will make the dies super dull so I would probably put something else in-between like you used the foam and press with the knife on that other thing. A bone folder won't dull the dies in the same way. But there are butterknives in plastic that I think might work better then metal on metal. But love that I don't have to buy a ton of machines for everything 😊 now I "only" have to buy dies and embossing folders 😒 😜

    I am so pleased to discover this site! I own an embossing machine, but, of course, it doesn't work with a larger die. Silly me, didn't check measurements when buying a die that I have wanted and the spoon and knife trick saved the day!!!!

    Thank you so much for these tricks. I am so mezmerized by card making but don't want to invest a lot of money into it until I try it and make sure I want to really get into it. I lack the confidence but I'm going to try but go small and cheap at first.

    The sec you placed that diecut down then rubbed you fingers on it, I immediately thought a rolling pin rolled over the die would work too.

    Oh my goodness! I watched your video this morning, as I cannot afford to get a machine atm. I bought a crafting magazine earlier in the week and it had a die cut stencil with it. I thought I'd give it a go..... Literally, 5-10mins later, using a rolling pin to start and finishing with a round handle knife, I had a beautiful seahorse! Thank you so much for sharing this amazing tip!

    I’m thinking the handle of the paint brush to the left would make a good sub for the bone folder without the metal on metal sound.

    I love the alternative embossing idea, but I dunno about the alternative die cutting idea. It works, for sure, but seems like it takes a long time. I would only do a very simple die with the elbow grease method - I think if a person really wants to do die cuts, especially with thin metal does - basic machines are very affordable now (don't have to g et the latest greatest version). I would just save up and buy one if I planned to do a lot of die cutting in the future. The embossing idea, however - is gold. And yeah - those holes are in the dies on purpose - just for that. You use an awl or poke tool to remove the paper. I surprised you don't have a die cutter! That was the first thing that I bought when I discovered crafting 5 yrs ago. It started with me watching card making videos - never knew dies and die cutters existed before then - not for "at home" people anyway. So I made a list, saved up my moolah and went to Michael's (first time I ever even went in one!) and near bout FELL OUT I was so amazed at everything they had. I was instantly hooked. But I got 3 Tim Holtz Bigz Dies, a Big Shot, embossing powders, inka ink, etc. The die cutter was the most important thing though LOL. Because I didn't know anything but what I saw from the videos. I also got some embossing folders. Thanks for sharing these "think outside the craftroom" hacks.

    For die cutting, why not put a piece of parchment paper or wax paper on top then rub the knife over it, hopefully without the metal hitting the metal?

    I saw someone on FB that used thin foil for embossing & the heart were beautiful but she said you need the machine. Any thoughts how it can be done without a machine.

      same way, I would just be more gentle and maybe use a piece of paper folded around it.

    Heavy rolling pin?

  • @lzrd8460
    @lzrd8460 8 місяців тому

    Could you use a rubber brayer or rolling pin to emboss? Just wondering.

    • @M3glamsquad
      @M3glamsquad  8 місяців тому

      Probably not the rubber brayer but if you have a hard roller, it might work, the knife and spoon get the sharp edges better in my opinion. But give it a try!

    I love the idea and i want to make it for a wedding invitation even if i have to purchase a die cut machine i'm open to it. But, my biggest concern is that i created a shape that i want it both printed and embossed and there ar NO STENCILS for it. Where and how can i bring it to life and make possible the embossing of this specific image

    • @M3glamsquad
      @M3glamsquad  3 роки тому +1

      Well... depending on how intricate the image is, you could print it out or take to Staples or Office Max and have it printed. Then comes the hard part... use a mouse pad and an embossing ball tool, and outline the back of the image to make the front have definition. Depending on how many and the shape, this will take a LOT of time! I'm not sure how else to have your own image turned into an embossing folder.
      I hope that helps! I wish I had a better answer for you! 🥰
