I was just wondering if embossing folders worked without a machine and found your video. Thanks so much!! Because I don’t have a machine, and like to save money. This is great 🥳 I have one of those marble or granite rolling pins (thrift store purchase) that I think I could use too.
Wow, thank you so much! I actually like that you can control the embossing better without the machine for varying effects as you demonstrated around the 3:30 mark. I'm thinking a rubber hammer might work well 😆
I haven't had much of a problem. You can press it between books or even iron the page if it bothers you. I haven't had my pages warp because I don't use much water.
Plus I usually either sew my pages, glue them to something, etc... so I haven't had a problem with warping. But I also think it would add some texture or interest, which wouldn't bother me.
Manual embossing machines are not expensive , and second-hand ond can be bought jusg for z few pounds. Having it saves time and efford, and quality of embossing is very good
I use a big pill bottle (with a flat lid) with a piece of fleece/felt rubber banded on, spritz my paper, stick in folder & rub, can get several done while watching tv..
I would usually buy from crafters who are selling a ton of items in bulk or boxes of items at garage sales or thrift shops and the folders would be included in my buys... or I've also had friends give me some of their stuff. I just held on to them thinking I'd get a machine one day...and I did.
Definitely what I needed!! Like you, have folders and plates...no machine. Now feel confident that don't need a machine!!
Yea!! Let me know how it goes for you!!
@@renee_lovelylavenderwishes Well, definitely need a sturdy rolling pin and table... Trial and error, of course.

Nice to know we have other options. Thanks, Renee! 😊
Thanks for sharing the results of your experiments. I definitely want to try this out.
Also, RIP Tuesday Morning 😭
I know! I used to shop there all the time!
Great video, I really cant afford a machine at this point so this technique should work until I feel like buying one❤❤❤

OHHH! Another good idea! Thx!
Thank you very much
I have folders but no machine and can't afford one but these ideas do work. I tried a few.
Yay! So glad they worked for you!!
Clever and resourceful!
Thanks!
Great idea for embossing without buying a machine. Also, using painter’s tape to hold paper and stencil steady can be helpful. 😊
Thank you!! Love that idea!
Try putting a thin piece of foam rubber on top of paper then rolling pressure. I think it will push the paper into the low spots.
Awesome idea! Thanks!!!
So good to know! Thanks!
this really help me since I can't afford an embossing machine yet. 🙂
YAY! I am so glad!
With the plate that you used if you put your card on top of it then a piece of craft foam on top and then roller over it should emboss it nicely
Great! Thanks for the idea!!
Now I have some use for the rolling pin that doesn't make cookies or pies. 😂😂
😂
Temu has a small hand press
Wouldn’t the paper warp when it dries?

@@renee_lovelylavenderwishes that’s brilliant!!!
Do you need to put the folder on a softer surface
You can try to see if that works better- not sure if I've tried that or not...
Thanks for the help I couldn't by a machine

Did you hear the one about a woman who used her car to run over an embossing folder? 😂 I'm going to try using a rock for cutting a die.
Lol! No I did not!! But I guess if it works…😂😂

A rock? Lol
Sure- whatever works! Lol

No disrespect but………..who buys folders without a machine to use them in?…….asking for a friend

I got five or six of them at 75% off and thought I’d buy a machine when they went on sale, but I’ve since used them as molds for paper making.
