I'm going to be riding a letter soon to the attorney general because the rest of New York State has not gotten any raises for rideshare in like 5 years. But New York City has gotten several so we need to start getting something going cuz we're not making enough money
I have said this was the solution for years. Eliminate the loophole that allows rideshare to avoid taxi regulations & mandated fees. Standardized rates are good for both riders and drivers.
The driver community is not unified, especially between full-time and part-time drivers, divide and conquer works for Uber and Lyft, that’s the heart of the problem
The only negative about Vancouver WA is that XL pays about 2 pennies more than X but other than that it's good. I had just bought my van just before the prices went up if I had known I would have gotten a smaller SUV or a car because I have no need to do XL and I don't even do XL with my van because it's not worth the bother.
Thanks Sergio, great interview. The Washington model should be the model for the country. Individual cities should follow Seattle, but for my market, the Washington rates would be fantastic.
If I had the rates they've got in Washington, I'd make more by just accepting rides than I do by declining all the BS, even if I was making the quest goals. The quest goals don't even come close to the money given by those rates.
I am an Oregon driver for past 5.5 years. Oregon and Washington share district boundeies. So, our rides are generated from Oregon and Washington. I dont feel any driver from either state is "poaching" rides from either state. However, When i have a Washington ride Uber/Lyft take monies out of my ride for the "paid time off" that Washington passed. However, since I live in Oregon I am not able to claim any paid time off because I do not live in Washington. My feeling is that if they are going to take monies out of my pay and not allow me to be able to claim that paid time off then there needs to be a hard look at the district boundries.
I am a Portland driver as well and Vancouver is like 1/3rd our driving map. In fact if you are a Vancouver driver your considered a Portland driver. So please stop with the poaching! Wrong term. We all need to survive.
I agree if I still lived in Portland I would be doing the same thing. I often drive Portland to get the shorties to complete a quest. Their are a lot more rides in Portland.
Sergio I'm in Vancouver WA and often under 50% Acceptance rate with Gold. I always can see where and what direction the rider is going to which is huge. With Uber with 86% acceptance 9.7 rating I see nothing because my cancelation is 6%. I don't do Uber after 1pm to avoid Portland Rush hour. I do 99% my rides in Washington.
What i have learned from this, besides the rates being better is an EV cost you more time and money than filling up my chevy cruze. They lose 2 hours in charge time to my one fill up
I will disagree with you on this. My market is Orlando. I drive a Tesla model y. I charge at home over night. I drive from 3-midnight. And I drive the whole time. And I get back home with about 40-50% left on the battery. Rinse and repeat. I don’t know what you people are doing charging 2 times a day sitting around charging for 2 hours. That’s crazy to me.
How does the WA model benefit ALL gig workers? This seems like a model that only benefits rideshare. What about DoorDash and other food delivery apps? Sergio dislikes Prop 22, but isn’t it better than nothing, especially with food delivery? WA state had nothing for food delivery. You don’t get paid for waiting or driving.
I’m confused it all sounds great but $23 per online hours is not good at all, it does seems that with all the poaching (standard in SF), it’s a lot of time driving empty.
@@nickhummer5775 I understand the concept of sitting in the couch versus making money and to some extent even having fun doing so, but the posting in my opinion highlights the reality of what happens when drivers from out of the area flood the streets. Here in SF that’s a city only 7 by 7 miles with one of the highest cost of living in the world is normal, but with the Macro Economy including a looming recession and inflation the number of Gig Workers are increasing exponentially. The model in Washington/Seattle is by far the best no doubt but in the end online hours is the only gauge that means anything.
It’s not the same crap in some respects. Unfair deactivations without representation is currently a huge problem even with a dashcam linked to the cloud and sick pay leave and family leave for $35 per month or (with their rates) 13 cents a mile to a Union sounds like an improvement without a doubt. The issue you are referring to is 100% correct though. Online hours is how I gauge my income, since in SF a 7 by 7 miles city time not distance is what matters most and since the creation of Uber & Lyft in SF, drivers (in the Golden Days) came as far as LA on weekends to take advantage of a more profitable market. Today with the current Macroeconomic reality the pay in SF is in the dumps.

Imagine getting properly compensated for long rides in Washington st. 😩
Oregon stand up. It's our turn to stand up to get what's ours

how much are you grossing a week if you dont mind sharing

Right or left, at the end of the day it is still a min wage.

Actually prop 22 is only good for food delivery, not for rideshare, they are working on food delivery in WA now
Will be interesting to see how it plays out. They should make a ruling for all of it in one package.
A 30 min ride should be minimum $20. I see $9-12 all the time even when busy
I’m confused it all sounds great but $23 per online hours is not good at all, it does seems that with all the poaching (standard in SF), it’s a lot of time driving empty.
Being online and not taking rides is me sitting on the couch. Online time doesn’t matter that much

I’m wondering if it still surges in Washington state. 🤔
Surged are non existent in Vancouver along with scheduled rides
As Sergio would say "He's happier than Pig 🐖 in sh*t" 💩 😅
Good interview we need is more government in our lives.
Ummm I live in Washington and this is all crap its not all that
What? Ok, what is it?
Lord. Lol. 99-100% ar rates. Lol. Sign me up in Washington state
Pay attention people,he works half the time for half the pay. Same crap
I’d challenge you to do the same 20:16.

He used to make 180O for 12 hours a day and now he makes 900 for 6 hours a day HELLO
Watch the video again, he averages 40-50 an hour
