I remember my friends and I losing interest in the trickshotting scene because the clips were just getting too complex and impossible to replicate. I had no idea at the time that they were faked! GREAT VIDEO!
I used to watch a lot of trickshotting videos when I was a kid, and I honestly thought that there's little to no cheating scandals back then, so this video is really eye-opening to me. Thank you for your amazing work on this video!
Kids have been setting up clips since 2009.. FaZe has kept their reputation relatively clean because anyone who got snitched on would get kicked. They were all faking clips for the teamtages. Not all clips are fake, but look at Zeimzy & those guys who pop up randomly but then fizzle out just as fast. In all reality, FaZe, SoaR, Red, Obey, etc. all needed fake clips to push the bar even higher for trickshotting. Some of the most beloved trickshotters in the world faked their clips. In early 2013, I had connections during the cod ghost season & guys like Adapt were setting up to get a boost in ratings for the new game. Adapt ended up getting into FaZe that year
This has been atleast 8 years ago? You show the clips one by one and my brain remembers every detail of the clip. I used to love watching trickshotting videos/montages. I remeber the faze 5 announcement. I remember the camo requirements. Thanks for a great video
I remember faze coming out and me being like "wow, this stuff is fake as fuck" Yet still so many people wanted to be like them. Glad videos like this are made.
It’s so funny coming across videos like these, as a retired veteran I spent all these years fighting in real wars and not knowing about any of this, being in a real war is like being on the moon, movies video games all that is just non existent, things that happen you are completely separated, like the 2008 housing crisis I didn’t know about for years after it happened. So stumbling across videos like this is like a little gem of peeking into the past of a group of people lives that something affected them in some way.
As somebody who has trickshotted half of my lifetime, I was certain a video like this would be filled with inaccuracies due to how differently documented CoD trickshotting is as opposed to other online gaming communities, but I'm pleasantly surprised! No misinformation & you got everything down to a T on the issue and explained it all in a really digestible, entertaining way. I've been wanting someone to make a video like this for years & I'm glad it finally came. :) Amazing work! (also that was my saw trust joke LMAOOO)
Racer is my pick for someone to make an hour long Trickshotting iceberg video. There's been a couple over the last couple years but they don't touch on the real depths of the community.
As someone who still creates trickshotting content to this day this video was super nostalgic and enjoyable! It was really interesting hearing all of these stories again after so many years. Thank you for putting in the time and effort to produce a high quality and accurate recounting of the trickshotting community! It was such a wild and chaotic time in the trickshotting community back then, you really had to be there to truly understand. I would love to see some more trickshotting related videos from you, great work man!
The worst part is that the cheaters gaslit the legit players by making fun of the vigilantes for “caring too much about call of duty”. We’ll never know just how much is fake, and the sad part is that even at trickshotting’s most dead point, we still have cheaters
Thank you for making a video on our prestigious but also strange community, I think it's great to show a time frame of it's prime to the state it's in today and it sucks to see what it has become but it is what it is... P.S. If you remember us (Auto), you're a real OG!
At this point many can’t really care too much since the scene is dead. But at the time a lot of people would be upset due to unfair competition. Great video for a trip down memory lane. Maybe next time if you didn’t do it already, cover the ‘sniper lobbies’ from cod 4 mw3 waw etc. it’s not quite the same as these fake lobbies, but, when the games were active these players choosing to hit kill feeds in sniper lobbies were looked down upon. Maybe you could do a vid about how sniper lobbies changed kill feeding, and then, saved the dead games when they died out.
@retro I forgot to mention if you do consider this idea, reach out to Raw Chai. He’s Australian and is well known in the sniping clips community, he also used to do cod 4 sl’s and has a wide grasp on the ‘standards’ for clips back then. I’m pretty sure he still streams and is active now a days, at least like half a year ago he was. Even if it’s not a dual video // interview section with him, he would be able to offer massive insight and fill in the blanks in DM’s.
Trickshotting, in my view, is always a masochistic act to represent your skill and dedication to COD. I never understood why people threw so much money at it, and why people cheated to the top. Good ass video, good ass memories. I recently went on the AW MW2 client and hit a shot for old times sake for a montage, still feels as great now as it did then.
I remember watching the Saw Trust videos back in the day, what a throwback. Even with the cheaters and the fakes I still look back at my MW2/BO2 trickshotting days with good memories in mind. Crazy how everything ended turning out for the trickshot community.
this man single handedly brought back a wild time in my memory that i went back and watched all the trickshot videos that are unlisted or private on my channel 😭
Speedrunning and Trickshotting, the two communities that I've spent most of my time in since being an avid internet user. Retro, thank you for another video! Edit: also shoutout to the WingsOfRedemption clip, truuuuue OG
@@YOURDADSNEPHEW well I wasn't aware of a lot of these cheating methods until retro told me, I trickshotted when MW2 came out and the 2 years following that. Back when I started, even setting up was frowned upon, that was considered "cheating" by many. For the last 10 years+, setting up has been widely accepted, and even encouraged in public lobbies when you're last alive. Trickshotting was at its largest in like 2010-12 I wanna say, although that may be my own bias, but I don't see how we ruined our own community when a lot of the things you mention started happening when trickshotting was beyond its prime days.
@@matt13classic Trickshotting is 100% more cringe, speedrunning can be explained by simply saying "i want to beat my favorite games as fast as possible". Try explaining the trickshotting days without sounding like you got bullied at school. For the record, I have done a fair bit of trickshotting and have never tried speedrunning. Make of that what you will.
I used to be a trickshotter back in mw2-bo2 days when i was in middle school. I remember hitting a couple of reverse 360s in donination matches and freaking out. Then go on youtube to see guys doing 1080 care package cancels and getting headshots to end a round on search and destroy. I remember getting so discouraged thinking that i was ass no matter how much i practiced trickshotting. I had a suspicion they were cheating, but could not prove it beyond "what theyre doing is seemingly impossible"
On MW2 you used to be able to hold X (on xbox) while going into a lobby, and it wouldn't fill with randoms, so you could invite whoever you want to fill the public lobby. Was one of the earlier setup methods of MW2
This shows how full of it Activision is because they made changes around cheating content creators. The Theater Mode was removed from CoD years ago, and that was bogus. Because I absolutely refuse to spend money on another CoD game, I only play Warzone for free and have no clue if it's back or not, but Theater Mode made catching cheaters a whole lot easier. It recorded the matches via Computer Vision, so everything was captured and the perspective could be changed like we were working inside the engine's IDE. It recorded every drop of raw data, populated the scene according to that data, then replayed everything in that data as a video with an unlocked camera - but it wasn't a video file. This made for significantly better CoD players and seasoned hacker hunters. It also easily exposed liars who claimed achievements they didn't have. Removing that clearly helped those influencers to keep up the act while being malicious towards the rest of the community.
Computer vision usually refers to something completelly different, but otherwise it's a good description. The feature actually originates from Quake 1 I believe; back then, the client was simply writing all the network data from server to a demo file and then replaying it back to the game loop. The theater mode works exactly the same, only it's the server recording the gamestate changes. I have a theory that these demo files could be used to detect humanized aimbots for M&K players by observing view angles change interval fluctuations as long as the player had mouse acceleration turned off.
They continued to make it easier for cheaters. In Warzone 1, we had access to stats, so a website existed to easily spot cheaters based on their stats. The cheaters complained that they had to constantly reduce their k/d and play bad to hide the cheats so Activision removed access to that. Now, if a person doesn't show you their stats in-game, you can't see it.
Theater mode and the lobby stat viewing in mw3 were the best features added back in the day. You could instantly see if the kid bragging about 3kdr in a lobby was legit.
Cheating/faking something in a game is disgusting. But massive bigups to the guys who actually do the math to find out if something isn’t right in the game. And I respect Viiz for exposing himself. Not many people would fess up like that.
Man I’ve been around in the cod/sniping scene since 2009 and I remember almost all of these happening, crazy how quick time has gone by but the games and community back then were amazing
Incredible video man. I faked clips myself back in the day partially because it was impossible to compete anymore. Even when exposing them to leads in private nothing would happen. I also made a video where I exposed myself lol. Also side note: The only inaccuracy in the video is that Warpzy wasn't actually the person that hit the fake clip in the Live lobby with FaZe Adapt & FaZe Rain. If my memory serves me well he was suspected to be faking clips by my friends & I. One of our friends used to be a big time hacker so he changed his in-game name to Ion Warpzy, got to join the game, faked the shot and that led to him being questioned by the FaZe guys. We then dm'ed Rain the info about the file change how that's how u can know if he fakes or not and it turned out to be true. COD Trickshotting was a huge part of my life and it sucks that cheating has basically ended the entire scene. Worse that I felt the need to also take part in it. Lots of good memories and real clips tho, wouldn't change any of it even if I could. Also found out so many other people faked clips while doing it which was probably even crazier. Almost every top guy that wasn't already in FaZe faked clips :/
its funny becasue he literally sucks at cod lol. i genuinely think I'm at least as good as him. Faking clips secured him a spot in faze for life and they still dont care that he sucks compared to every other good sniper rn
@@BeefyCatsthey are both good snipers with very accurate shots faze wanted them. Just because he fakes small stuff 10+ years ago doesn’t mean he sucks based off your clips that aren’t even usable in a montage you are no where near on his skill level 😂
this was actually really well made. I was in the trickshot comm to watch and see the outcome of Tenser faking clips and it was wild , Tenser started a whole wave of people faking clips in private match using match bonus assets and the match bonus calculator. There's also the whole cronus thing with scripting trickshots and I think it's lame but when Potter said it, I believe he got doxxed or at least a ton of hate from that side of the comm. It was also confirmed that both FaZe Apex and FaZe Temperrr have faked trickshots but were never caught so they exposed themselves years later when it didn't matter anymore. The whole Warpzy thing was very disappointing as well and I felt trickshotting was making a comeback but then it died off again because someone that was big at the time faked clips.
@@Jelster64 ohhhhh crap I forgot Apex deleted all of his old videos. So in Apex Mix Episode 12 the opener was faked. It was a hitmarker but he rage killed and edited the killcam to make it look like he hit. On MW2 the bullet shoots in killcam at 0.3 or 0.2 but in Apex's episode it was 2.2 which is impossible. For Temperrr it was from his MW2 montage called Possessed, it was the closer and he said that shot was aimbot. I wish Apex's video was still public because they admitted those clips were fake in 2017, for Apex it's obvious but not for Temperrr
Ok so Ive been thinking about this a lot over the years. I ran a small time montage channel and did a ton of editing way back in the MW2 days (est 2009). I wasnt much of a trickshotter but was on a team that was mainly trickshot centric. I would often play public S&D with some of my other video creators. They would often back out of lobbies until they found a lobby with other like minded individuals. They would often "play it out" until one team had 1 player left and that remaining player would then go to a predetermined location where they could allow the opposing team to attempt shots on them for a bit. People would often even just stand there until someone hit a shot. This was an entire culture in S&D lobbies where it was pretty much expected to set up for the opposing team to hit a shot if they were last alive. This is pretty much why every montage had shots in the exact same place. People just knew where to stand if last alive. If someone wanted them to stand somewhere else for a different shot they would typically shoot the ground with their pistol to signal the last alive to follow them. Its a shame that pretty much all trickshot montages were set up shots. I probably have some old recordings somewhere of games where you could hear eveyone talking in pregame lobby or complaining about how the last alive isnt helping them set up their shots. This even went all the way up to SoaR and the other mainstream teams. I did have a bit of personal experience with some well known players.
Great video! Haven't trickshotted since 2014 but it was like a trip down memory lane seeing the Agony drama and Saw Trust exposés again. It's nowhere near the level of faking that trickshotting evolved into, but the early days where "being chill" and setting up were the biggest controversies deserved a mention imo.

Shouldve talked about the whole Super/Savior Mod situation. That whole era was crazy. Finding out RobC and a few others were using that was crazy lol. I'm pretty sure there was a lot more because you could tell by the graphics and playercards looking slightly different. I always thought Avoid (from Saw and Despize I'm pretty sure) used it as well

A great video about it. I was a trickshotter and quit during the pandemic because of the amount of FAKE skill required to hit something. I was a known server owner on plutonium at the time and indeed the situation in the trickshotting community was much worse than expected. Players saw a small part of the garbage, I was unlucky and saw the worst of the trickshot community or the gang. Trickshotter went headlong into plutonium and in fact it was an all out war between servers and players. I enjoyed the game thank you for your dedication.
I would like to say this finally. After doing content about trickshotting and snipping , I found over the years we did it. That the “standers” kept getting higher and higher from a simple 360 no scope to 1080+ trickshots. I had a lot of talented people in the clan and we could only do so much to keep content rolling. To see how fast FaZe members, Soar and Dare to even Era was crazy , to believe that they could keep content rolling every single day is just stupid. These clans mocked the under dogs and made us work harder to grind for LEGIT CLIPS while they were FAKING clips the entire time. It’s also why they ( FaZe ) would only allow vouched members to join , pretty much their best friends IRL! Why you may ask ? Because they were faking clips from the start. They kept it a secret by giving them fame on social media. If you tried to expose them , they would send there 12 year old fans bases to spam your channels. We had a member in A9 that caught the guy you know as FaZe Kitty to this day, faking snipping feeding clips on BO2. It got so bad that kitty would send his hate army to our videos. There still proof on our videos till this day. Sad part of it all, we had to kick the member and get them to make an apology video on UA-cam so MR Fake Stupid FaZe Kitty would stop his harassment to our team. Me myself ( Sinister ) even viewed the BO2 clip of Kitty and it was 💯% faked. He had 4 people , friends more then likely que into the same game as him but on the other side and then had them stand behind the wall so he could hit a 4 piece on them. To see that weirdo still on the internet making trash content is baffling, cause he should have been stripped when he was faking clips on bo2 to join FaZe. But you know , FaZe always be picking up the kids that can fake it and hide it without getting caught. I just wanted to bring spot light on this cause FaZe and many more high tier ORGs fake clips. Wonder why FaZe doesn’t do ill cams anymore ??? Because Azza lobbies became public and then knew if they did there fake clips in Azza lobbies, people would catch on. Now knowing what Azza lobbies are, you can tell why they and many orgs like soar and dare where able to keep it on a hush hush bases. It’s funny to know that they stopped ill cams right as soon as the hacking community allowed the public to know what Azza Trickshot lobbies are. Know ask yourself this too when you actually use an IQ. How come they can’t do insane trickshots like a 1080+ with much combos in the shot? Because they can’t use azza to help them. That’s why on new gen Now in 2024, you see them hitting trickshots we would do when we were 12 🤣 FaZe is the scummy ORG hands down and Tommy, banks and Rain are the main part of this, tbh Rain was the one that brought the cheating to the table. Why he climbed the ranks so fast in the ORG. Just wish people would actually listen and do the math. Also before people be like oh FaZe would kick people and show that they were faking, yes they did but they only did it for one intent! That was to keep the name of FaZe in good standings and to make it look legit to UA-cam content creators so words of speculation wouldn’t spread. They honestly fooled the entire world , even the UA-camrs that find this stuff. FaZe will always cheat and lie! It’s in their losser DNA 🧬 Under dog clans should have been the ones to go big, not the lying and cheating ORG you’d called FaZe! It should be called FAKERS!!! Azza public = no more insane trickshots and even Illcams as a whole. Stay woke kings !!!

My IRL mate faked clips for my friend for him to get into L7 years ago. When you can spend weeks playing every single day 6+ hours and shots dont hit vs people releasing episodes weeekly of 7+ insane across map shots you soon relise they were also cheating or had 1/100000000 RNG

😭how many frauds got into faze bru

Ok ive missed the joke...what is it ??
That’s exactly what I was thinking as I clicked on this video… thought it was gonna be all bullshit allegations but nah… :(
Racer is my pick for someone to make an hour long Trickshotting iceberg video.
Bro ruined my childhood in basically 28 mins.

WillyG was always such an underrated figure in the tickshotting comm. Actual fucking LEGEND, "The WillyG Shot" is still fire.
Honestly its not gonna change anything but the level of quality of this video is so far beyond what would be required, incredible hahaha

I was wondering if he was going to mention this. I remember doing this a few times 😂😂

Yes thank you! I just posted this!!
Gotta. Sell. Dat. Merch.
@@Veltrosstho Good mention
It's been over a decade and "match bouns" still has me in tears every time LMFAOOOOO
I don't understand how Agony could possibly be forgiven for his repeated cheating. Pro gaming + social media is weird.
its funny becasue he literally sucks at cod lol. i genuinely think I'm at least as good as him. Faking clips secured him a spot in faze for life and they still dont care that he sucks compared to every other good sniper rn
you know agony is 2 people right?
Pro gaming isn't weird. Faze are not professional they are a social media org.
@@TannerLindberg Faze sure seemed to be a professional team when they were playing PUBG 🤷♂maybe there's some distinction I'm missing?
@@BeefyCatsthey are both good snipers with very accurate shots faze wanted them. Just because he fakes small stuff 10+ years ago doesn’t mean he sucks based off your clips that aren’t even usable in a montage you are no where near on his skill level 😂
Wow Agony and Wartek, haven’t heard those names in a while, you actually did go to the start of this. Great video on the greatest of times
this was actually really well made.
Do you remember when Apex and Temperrr said this/which clips they faked? I'm really curious about this but can't find anything.
@@VantoxifyThanks, very interesting. Btw I recently found out some legend has been reuploading lots of his stuff on youtube @Notfazeapex
Hello
It's nowhere near the level of faking that trickshotting evolved into, but the early days where "being chill" and setting up were the biggest controversies deserved a mention imo.
wowww i completely forgot about that until i read this comment. i remember saying "chill for bill" lol
Bro I can only imagine the amount of true legit players out there that deserved to be at the top….. will never be seen.

who are you???? not tryna be mean thats awesome but used to play with faze? and optic? shame u didnt get to go mainstream unless it wasnt meant to be or not yet... but i agree so many legit mfs got overshadowed bc the faking clips were easier to do and meant more to upload compared to legit and little kids yk care abt quantity not quality

Shouldve talked about the whole Super/Savior Mod situation. That whole era was crazy. Realizing that you could just load up a menu on the PC versions of mw2/bo2 and fake the controller button icons and it looked pretty real for the time even without the controller support. Finding out RobC and a few others were using that was crazy lol. I'm pretty sure there was a lot more because you could tell by the graphics and playercards looking slightly different.
It’s in their losser DNA 🧬
Under dog clans should have been the ones to go big, not the lying and cheating ORG you’d called FaZe! It should be called FAKERS!!!
Azza public = no more insane trickshots and even Illcams as a whole. Stay woke kings !!!

I don't wanna drop names or GTs here but as our group split up after a while, some of the other guys joined SoaR Sniping as I dropped out of the group to focus on other stuff in my life.
