Thank you for interviewing and bringing attention to SCAD. It's not uncommon for ER docs to not even consider a SCAD, we need to research the latest SCAD research so we can advocate for ourselves, even with cardiologists. I am a 4 yr survivor of a SCAD, I had mine at 59, although it typically happens to younger often postpartum women (and a handful of men.) I do not have High BP, Cholesterol, or Diabetes (common co-morbidities for a heart attack.) Mine was spiral dissection also in my LAD but thankfully no blockage other than the SCAD itself. I did not have the same crushing pain, I did have the profuse sweating, an ache between my shoulder blades and hearburn that wouldn't go away with OTC meds. Until I had the shock-like pain down my left arm, I denied I was having a heart attack. If I hadn't read womens' heart attack symptoms often differ from men in a meme on Facebook I may not be here today. I was medically managed for a year and cardiac rehab and yes, a SCAD support group to help me get to my new normal. I've read there is a 30 some percent chance of another SCAD, so the threat hangs over our heads every day. Getting the word out saves lives, as many ignore their symptoms, or their ER does.
I'm glad you are feeling better this just made me cry It was very depressing that it happened to my loved ones 😢 God was watching over you God bless ❤️
I am so glad you are ok... I had a massive heart attack back in March, had to have a stent place in my right coronary artery that was 100 percent blocked.. My LCX is 70 percent but I am being treated with medications, still sometimes have angina due to the 70 percent blockage, I am in hopes that maybe my next follow up my cardiologist, I will ask him to please go ahead and put a stent in the LCX also... Not sure why he didn't go ahead and do that while he was in there but I guess they have their reasons... but anyways, glad you are still here to tell your story, wish I could find a good support group... Stay blessed..

So scary, I get pain chest all the time but because of my anxiety, every time I go to the doctor or ER it seems like as soon as they know that, they dont take my pain serious. Or maybe they're right, because I've been having chest pain on and off for about 7 months now. But its really scary to know that it could happen.

I dont fear death itself but i fear dying . I dont want that crushing pain
I've been experiencing some dull pain in my left chest from time to time. I also experienced sharp, stabbing pain. I had felt clammy, a little light headed. I had gone to the doctor and when he took a blood pressure, he just said, my bp is fine and that nothing to worry. I also had an ECG and it was normal. But I know something is not right within my body. I can feel it. I am ignoring it since the doctors didn't show any concern.
I think I feel the same. Hits outta nowhere. When I breath in it feels like a sharp point in my chest. Like a bubble that’s filling up with each breath and it’s hitting a sharp point and the more I breath in the more it feels like it’s going to pop.
@tony cruz I've had similar situation in the past. What I do is I calm myself and breathe slowly. It simply goes away, but I know it is something to be worried about.
@@philippebenz2643 Get an angiogram and blood work for reassurance. Then forget about it 😉 hopefully your stress and anxiety will decrease (which tend to provoke such effects all you mentioned).
When I was about 13 or 14 I had my first svt heart episode (supraventricular tachycardia) and I thought it was just a panic attack because at the time I never had experienced one. It was right before school so I was talking to my mom who was in another room just telling her something is wrong. You could SEE how fast and hard my heart was beating and I was getting cold sweats I was super dizzy and I could barely walk by how light headed I felt. That's when my mom called 911 and she and my brother helped me move to the living room couch since our living room was big enough for all the people and equipment. They did an ekg and my heart rate was 276 beats per minute and that's when they gave me a shot that to me seems just like a reset. I ended up getting an ablation and the first time it only took like 2 hours and they froze part of my heart but like 2 months later I had another episode just from bending over to pick up a shoe. I then got another ablation and this time it was about 9 hours and they unfroze the one part of my heart and burned another part and so far I haven't had another episode. It's been years now and my heart still isn't as strong as it use to be and im too scared to get it back to where it was if I have another episode and have to do it all over again.
I pray for all those people having fear of heart attack.... Pls help me i m 20 year old and I have fear everytime of heart attack pls help me from this negative thoughts 🙏
OMFG, you can have a normal EKG and still have a heart problem! Just because you're not having a heart attack (tissue death) at the exact moment, that doesn't mean you aren't about to have one! The EMS team was incredibly irresponsible to say there was nothing wrong!
You can't look at the numbers, you have to look at the symptoms as well. The numbers can help rule something in but can't always rule it out. SCAD is quite common in young females and should have been in the back of the EMS crews mind as a differential diagnosis.
It’s not the same for everyone. It’s common, especially in women, to have no symptoms at all. Learn the signs and don’t ignore your body. (Widowmaker at 39. I had 5 stents placed)
I went to the ER about six times over chest pain and they all told me that I was fine. They said my EKG was normal and it's just really super scary because the hospital I feel like don't take it serious. They just try to blame it on a panic attack or some undiagnosed mental deal or something. And they don't really want to look at your heart and it's so scary man cuz my left arm hurts. My chest hurts. It's awful
Same here! This is EXACTLY why I'm going to Mexico to see doctors there. The doctors in the USA don't act like they care if the patient lives or dies. I swear. And they NEVER give you a reason for the pain or problem. It is scary asf!
IF YOU HAVE THESE SYMPTOMS PLEASE SEEK PROFESSIONAL EMERGENCY MEDICAL ATTENTION IMMEDIATELY!! If you are reading this, I hope I can be a voice for you. Seeking medical care is ALWAYS the right answer. Please let my experience change the outcome of yours. This one is for you, dad!
I know the feeling. From a normal routine to intense pain due to the plaque breaking off and blocking an artery. Imagine having a turnakit wrapped around your arm and not being released, your body weight on your chest and dripping in sweat. The issue I had was time delay but luckily or as much luck as you can get from having a attack the ambulance had a EKG as standard and went straight to the hospital. You also want to hope you get to a hospital that has an interventional cardiologist ready to catherize. I didn't pay for anything but if i had to i would probably get another attack from the bill. Money can seem frivolous in those instances. At least some of us have had a preview. Anyways, it is what it is (and was). 😀
I'm 19 and my blood pressure is 155/93, it gained 14 points in 2 months. At this rate I'll have a stroke or heart attack by the end of the year if I don't change how I live.

I was crying when these instances occurred no one should go through this i had pain near my heart and felt dizzy numb breathless i have immediately lost some weight 5kgs and my bp is now 120/80 And i feel a lot better i have been I am 20 and ignoring my health from long time please please don't be me
i had a heart attack last night im only 15 i had a super realistic dream and a friend of mine told me "you did leave someone didnt you" then i felt an extreme squeezing pain in my heart
very similar to an aortic dissection, which is not about blockage but separation of tissues within the walls of the aorta, the large blood vessel that carries blood from the heart to the rest of the body, it results in a weakened blood vessel wall that may also rupture, which usually results in death. A sudden onset of pain is typical at the moment of dissection. The pain is described as ripping or tearing and as the worst pain experienced. thankfully, her attack was not as severe, or she would have required a quick trip to surgery.

I wasn’t sure what was wrong just all these weird feelings radiating. I was taken to the ER by my wife and I had to have an angioplasty and two stents placed. I’m ok, but tbh I have a weird feeling in my chest since…. Also I have a light flutter occasionally when I’m breathing normally… I have started to exercise and I feel better when I do, and I’ve totally changed my diet to border line vegetarian.

You can feel the pain in her voice.
I'm glad you are feeling better this just made me cry It was very depressing that it happened to my loved ones 😢 God was watching over you God bless ❤️
My grandma passed away from a heart attack this January, at age 58😓
I’m so sorry for your loss:(
Same but In 2016 and it was my dad
This is so sad to hear. So sorry you had to go through this. Hope you have a speedy recovery, Sindi.
I'm so sorry this happened, but you survived God bless you 🙏🏾 Thank you for spreading knowledge with us all.
I have had a heart attack before and I can confirm this is exactly what it felt like
I have had chest pain before .. so ..that could have been a heart attack? My god. Guess I need my heart checked out
I feel pains in my left chest randomly throughout the day and im dizzy. I started to get this pain in me left arm but under the elbow. So the underside of my elbow. I dont know if its stress or what. Im 16 I workout every day. I eat a relatively healthy diet.
@@ChaiMoose hello, how are you? I'm feeling this right now and I am worried what could it might be
@@maceronni hey! I’m doing all right I am not exactly sure what it was. I think it was just accumulation of things for instance I had some nutrient deficiencies. I started eating meat again and I lowered my anxiety a lot.. I do not have heart problems, but if you think you might then definitely check out with the doctor. :)
Oh thank God!😩🙌🏽❤️ I’m so glad that she is okay. This is a blessing from God that she survived❤️ I’m glad! Thank you Jesus!🙌🏽❤️
My best friend just died of heart attack @27. He collapsed while playing football and died . It's so crazy and am yet to process it all. Am happy you survived that monster 💪😢😢😢
I had the EXACT same condition that she had with none of those symptoms. No major pain, felt like I was catching a cold. Went to work for a week until I started feeling a lump in my throat. They looked at my heart and half of it was not beating. Had to have open heart surgery the next day.
omg! u didn’t have any symptoms?
I had high blood pressure n affects the heart, now the heart beat less strong than before, get tired easily now cannot work stuck at home.
@@springgal265 My prayers are with you
@@springgal265 i had high blood pressure at one point too, i only found out because i woke up one day and couldn’t breathe, the symptom kept lasting for days until one day i really couldn’t breathe and i got alot of tightness in my chest i drove as fast as i could to the hospital it was like a 40 min drive i seriously thought i wasnt gonna make it, when i got there they told me i had high blood pressure and that my heart wasn’t pumping effectively and that was causing the shortness of breathe and tightness in my chest, since then ive lost alot of weight and it hasnt happened. Its no joke when it comes to taking care of your health.

Thank you for sharing your story. It sounds eerily similar to my own experience with SCAD! I had tears in my eyes remembering what it was like to be told you’ve had a SCAD. Scary, but we are lucky survivors!
Bro I feel like dying after getting heartburn I can’t even imagine how much pain these people are going through
God I'm so young and yet I'm constantly afraid of a heart attack man... I've started exercising more just to do anything I can to avoid a heart attack or anything of the like. Life is too precious to be lost by my own sloth and stress.
Thanks for sharing your story. I'm really glad you're ok (physically at least) and have the support group.
If you have heavy pressure on your chest, if you have dizzy spells and your vision is all of a sudden blurry or blacking out go to the ER and don't leave until they tell you what is going on. Before watching this video I've read about the symptoms of heart attack. She had all the symptoms of heart attack. The sweating profusely was new though I haven't heard of it so I'm glad I watched. You've got to be your own advocate and you cannot cannot trust doctors to find out what's wrong with you. You know your body and what is and isn't normal.
I just sometimes get anxiety about having a sudden heart attack
Is anyone else here because they were having an irregular heartbeat, and now their really dizzy and having nausea and a headache? Cause i am
Yea last night
My dad died of a sudden heart attack 14 years ago..
He was hiking by himself one afternoon and was found by passers by. The thought that he "suffered" during his last moments are thoughts that have plagued me ever since... I was told that he passed away instantly. I just hope that is true... ❤ 💙
Stay strong brother
Very sorry for your loss 💔
It’s very possible. My grandmother passed away instantly from a heart attack. New Year’s Day 2020.
I am so happy that you are ok. Prayers my friend.
So glad you survived. I've been there, you were lucky. I hope you're doing well.
Good thing she was in America. Our doctors and medical staff are some of the finest professionals in the world.
Hey beautiful human reading this, I hope you are well✨ Sending loads of love, you got this❤️
Thank god she's okay I can't imagine what it mustve felt like to have one of those in my family we have a strong line of diabetes im prediabetic if im not careful I could be at risk for heart disease in the future I'm 24 still young and healthy but I have to watch myself im actually right now scared, Scared for my life I have an anxiety disorder so my panic attacks feel like death I cant even begin to feel what those people that have survived heart attacks felt like all I can say is i am happy that u are ok
So happy you're better and you have lovely children.
That is hard and awful but I am glad she is better this why it’s important to remember anyone can have heart attack man or woman and know what to do
We need an update 2024 .
This video is 3 yrs old. I pray she’s still doing well
So scary, I get pain chest all the time but because of my anxiety, every time I go to the doctor or ER it seems like as soon as they know that, they dont take my pain serious.
Or maybe they're right, because I've been having chest pain on and off for about 7 months now. But its really scary to know that it could happen.
Same here!
Thank you young lady for sharing your experience
I can't finish this video . I've just been in the hospital a week for a heartproblem and im just 30 years old. I do a lot of sport , i'm a lifeguard for a living , i eat pretty healthy and there is no familyhistory with heartproblems. I can't believe im so unlucky. It makes me scared and angry. I dont fear death itself but i fear dying . I dont want that crushing pain
🙏🏽🥺
How are you now dear
The doctors didn’t say anything at all this happens to me and I’m so scared…
@@philippebenz2643 Get an angiogram and blood work for reassurance. Then forget about it 😉 hopefully your stress and anxiety will decrease (which tend to provoke such effects all you mentioned).
@@zzzap5425 Thank you so much! You have better advice than most doctors I knew. I work at a hospital too.🤦🏻♂️
When I was about 13 or 14 I had my first svt heart episode (supraventricular tachycardia) and I thought it was just a panic attack because at the time I never had experienced one. It's been years now and my heart still isn't as strong as it use to be and im too scared to get it back to where it was if I have another episode and have to do it all over again.
omg im so sorry!! i had an svt ablation over the summer and thank god ive been better since then. i hope you don’t have to do that again!
Ellie, how are you? It's been a year now. Are you okay?

This scared me but I needed to know this too, so thank you for talking about this
I pray for all those people having fear of heart attack....
My dad got a heart attack at 37 aswell but he survived which made my week better back then
Whoever is reading this may you and your loved ones live forever and ever 🙏🙏🙏🙏
... Forever? ... I hope not.
Now a days heart attacks r counted as normal bcoz of its countless patients

It’s not the same for everyone. It’s common, especially in women, to have no symptoms at all. Learn the signs and don’t ignore your body. (Widowmaker at 39. I had 5 stents placed)
All videos I seen about heart attacks the people who experienced it always look like they have something great going in life. A reason to live.
I’m so glad you took it seriously and went to the hospital!
My father unexpectedly passed away from an aortic dissection at the age of 46 and if he would have sought proper medical attention and did not ignore the symptoms, he would still be alive today. If you are reading this, I hope I can be a voice for you. Seeking medical care is ALWAYS the right answer. Please let my experience change the outcome of yours. This one is for you, dad!
I know a South African accent when I hear one...
I'm glad you're okay. 🥺❤
im zimbabwean but i could tell she was south african too 😳
Praise God for you and your family. Your extended family in MI is praying for you.
This is so scary but I’m glad she’s ok
Thank God you survived.
God bless you glad you made it
I'm 19 and my blood pressure is 155/93, it gained 14 points in 2 months. At this rate I'll have a stroke or heart attack by the end of the year if I don't change how I live.
Bro i had similar bp not to worry you i had mini heart attack type instances where i felt this was it. I was crying when these instances occurred no one should go through this i had pain near my heart and felt dizzy numb breathless i have immediately lost some weight 5kgs and my bp is now 120/80
And i feel a lot better i have been
I am 20 and ignoring my health from long time please please don't be me
i had a heart attack last night im only 15 i had a super realistic dream and a friend of mine told me "you did leave someone didnt you" then i felt an extreme squeezing pain in my heart
very similar to an aortic dissection, which is not about blockage but separation of tissues within the walls of the aorta, the large blood vessel that carries blood from the heart to the rest of the body, it results in a weakened blood vessel wall that may also rupture, which usually results in death. A sudden onset of pain is typical at the moment of dissection. The pain is described as ripping or tearing and as the worst pain experienced. thankfully, her attack was not as severe, or she would have required a quick trip to surgery.
I want to watch this but I'm afraid I lost my grandpa from a massive heart attack I wasn't around when it happened my dad had diabetes we passed away I believe he may have a heart attack but it's good to know how it feels like to have one so that you are ready and you know what the signs are.

May you have many blessings in your long and happy future
im so sorry but im glad you surived! this is now on my worst fears list
Im truly sorry that you had to suffer this.
I had a heart attack a month ago, two blocked arteries, primary 97% (widow maker) secondary 100% blocked. I had ZERO pain in my chest, it was a wave of feelings of disco in my jaw, then my head, then the back of my arms (triceps) I had slight light headedness, cold sweats but no nausea or vomiting.
I've never had a heart attack but know people who have had them. It's amazing how symptoms vary from person to person.
Would I survive from a heart attack due to dehydration?
A family member of mine passed away from a heart attack today.
I can’t believe the paramedics gave the option to stay home even with those symptoms ....
Right??,?

I had a heart attack . I did not even know it was a hot day i was sweating but then my are started feeling like it is being crushed went t the hospital and they told me i had a massive heart attack i have 2 stents
I myself am an EMT in Texas. I make 17$ an hour. I recognize these EMT’s definitely missed the obvious signs of radiating pain to left arm and excessive sweating. A properly trained basic life support clinician would have recommended she go to the hospital with a high suspicion of heart muscle infarction regardless of 12 lead EKG reading. I also recognize the EMS system more than likely has a bias due to the demographic that typically fills it which may have played a part in what I suspect may have been negligence. Also, I realize that it is a hard job with high stress. EMS workers deserve more support to bring in additional workers and better benefits to keep current ones happy. I’m grateful she was able to survive such a terrible fate and I hope this is a learning opportunity for all those involved in EMS.
