I agree with you, for the person watching the series it is clear that Jamie cannot die, not for now, but if we put ourselves in Claire and John's place it is a very credible scenario and they must take action with Richardson wanting to arrest Claire. By the way, pay attention to Richardson... he is going to be very important.
That first scene with Jamie and Ian talking was funnier in the book because Claire had amputated Jamie's finger after the Battle of Saratoga, so he'd been carrying it around ever since. He asked Ian if he could bury it with him, and Ian busted up laughing, which is why Jamie said that line about dying laughing. (And that was Ian Sr.'s father, ALSO named Ian in the flashback of their childhood. Roger met him in the last episode, remember? But of course that would have been like 10 years later.) Jenny was actually the one to suggest that she come with Jamie when he left. She said she no longer felt tethered to Lallybroch now that Ian was gone, and all of her older children and grandchildren were thriving (except Michael is a mourning recent widower, but at least his career is going well), so she felt she could leave them to be with Young Ian and meet Rachel and be a part of their new life together. I'm bummed that they've changed that on the show, but I guess they left the door open for her to join them later. I laughed probably a little too hard at how William was just waiting around carrying Rachel's shopping, and then she shoves another basket in his face to run after Ian. Then he saves the day from Ian's Bugg problem and gets no thanks. Poor William is definitely friend-zoned. It was rather a dumb move on Claire's part to take over Mercy's spy missions. Since Mercy was compromised, it stands within reason to assume that the avenues she used to correspond with the Americans were ALSO compromised. Claire was married to a spy commander (Frank). She really should have known better. This story line was a lot more complicated in the book, and involved Fergus and Marsali, who also happened to be in Philly at the time, but since they aren't, they obviously had to dumb it WAY down, but the end result is the same that Claire was caught carrying Rebel messages, and Lord John had to marry her to save her, Fergus, Marsali, their children, the Hunters, and Ian. The books actually had hints before this that Roger's father might have time-traveled when he went MIA during WW2. Back on the Ridge, Claire and Roger were speaking about what he remembered about his biological father and what kind of airplane he flew, and it jogged her memory because the type of plane he flew was wrong for what the official story was about his disappearance. She suddenly remembered a letter Frank had written to her during the war about a pilot whose plane went down near some standing stones in northern England. The plane was found, the pilot's body was not, but there was evidence he hadn't bailed from the plane before it went down. Frank mentioned the pilot's name was Jeremiah, which he thought was ironic because of the doomsayer prophet, Jeremiah, in the Bible. So Roger already had suspicions about his father's disappearance, but it wasn't a question he ever thought he'd see answered. Well, now he knows Claire's theory was correct. There is a spin-off short story that tells what happened from Jeremiah's perspective. I doubt we'll get that whole story in the show. As another chilling coincidence, Jeremiah's commanding officer was none other than Captain Frank Randall.
As a sucker for romantic drama, Hi Nanna(2023) is one of a gem of a movie that deserves a reaction on the channel. It will get you in the feels, break you and make you fall in love. Hoping to see a reaction in the future.
Confusing right now, but this is my favorite part of Book 8- Roger & Buck's storyline. Rogers dad was an RAF pilot who disappeared over the English Channel & was never found. Roger was 3 years old at the time. There is a novella that covered Jeremiah MacKenzie's story. it is a short & fun & heart-breaking read.
Many US cities have districts with brick streets. Portland OR and St. Louis are the 2 I've been to. Other roadstuffs are more affordable and durable. But many more cities have historic areas with cool old houses and buildings. My own neighborhood is small brick ranches, but it is totally adorable. If you can live in 1000 sq ft, it is perfect.
Honestly, I don't feel sorry for Arch Bug. The way I remember it; his wife was looking around the burnt wreckage of Jamie and Claire's house for some gold. His wife got caught and tried to kill Jaime and instead got killed by Ian who was protecting Jaime. Arch Bug let his grief blind him from reason and got himself killed too. The Bug family brought about their own destruction.
Young Ian is my favorite character in the books. There is so much more backstory to all of the characters in the books. Lord John Grey is one of those characters who is very complicated due to his sexuality. Being a gay man and a Lord and in the army would be a death sentence at that time. So he lives a very private life. The novellas are a great way to learn more about his character. The novellas are short stories and a great read. The character that annoys me is Brianna. She is a brat in the books. A spoiled brat at that. I have not watched season 7b yet. Since i have read all the books i am waiting to binge watch after season 8 is complete and released. We've waited this long for 7b, I figured I'd just wait for season 8. Although I hope a mini series will be done for book 10.
Unpopular opinion- I actually don't trust John Grey. Never have. You're right, something about all this makes me feel yuk (i haven't read the books btw). And ohhh, Ian, loved his character, so sad that he's now gone to the great stuffed cabbage heaven in the sky!
Lord John is a gentleman and since he was a teenager he had a very clear idea of loyalty. It is not surprising that he wants to take care of Claire, she just saved his nephew (and she had saved Lord John from dying of smallpox years ago).

Dougal MacKenzie is one of the best characters on this show - so happy to have him and Geilis back :)

The Philadelphia shots were taken in Liverpool in the UK.
Thank you, that makes sense

Graham IS gorgeous!🔥🔥🔥
I love Mr. Mctavish too! He is a hottie and this would have been a way different story if I was Claire!
Hahaha! Love it
