poor rezephos on that double shell jump level. i dont speed run but enjoy watching them and seeing someone not complete every level with ease just shows how hard some of these tricks are.
This is a neat category, it's nice seeing something fresh in a Mario World speedrun. Get to see a lot of stuff I wouldn't while watching one of the TASes. Mario World Advance was actually my first game in the series and I spent a lot of time investigating every nook and cranny it had to offer until I hundred percented it.
I swear I must have spent half of my childhood playing Super Mario World as a kid, so seeing you destroy the game without ever getting a mushroom or a fire flower or a cape was kind of amazing because trying to beat levels as small Mario when I was a kid was something I didn't even think was possible back then, lol. This has to easily be one of the greatest games that has ever been made, even in this day and age because the way they designed this game was simply astonishing being one of the very first SNES games. I got it with my SNES and just beat the game by clearing each level normally and was completely amazed at how many secrets and alternate routes that were just crammed into the cartridge. I remember having the Nintendo power issue that had the map layouts and lists of secret paths and secret levels and thinking it was the equivalent of a fucking treasure map, lol. By the time I had finished playing SMW the Nintendo power issue was held together by tape and was almost in complete tatters because I had read it and used it so long. For anyone who is too young to remember SMW or has never played it, I would absolutely recommend that you stop what you're doing and find a copy A.S.A.P. Even if you're not a gamer, or if you are a hardcore gamer, you absolutely owe it to yourself to play Super Mario World and discover one of gamings funnest experiences. There are months and months worth of wonder and secrets to discover, and you will have a total blast. Btw those big moles with the sunglasses are still the coolest characters in video gaming. I used to love those fuckers, lol. Just jumping on one of their heads and hitching a ride is so fun and cool. I want to find a stuffed animal of one of those guys with the sunglasses. As far as I'm aware Super Mario World was the only game they ever appeared in which is a shame if that's true because they are so fucking cool and adorable, lol.
This is definitely the most interesting category I've seen in my opinion, but man some of these tricks are a nightmare. That double shell jump is absurd.
38:06 man, that poor goomba. bashed into the wall so much just for the sake of others. He'll live, but I bet his I.Q. got smashed into the negatives from that experience.
Dalton Weathersby did you? Did you really just realize this or did you maybe, JUST MAYBE, copy your comment from one of the thousand comments saying the exact same thing under every video GDQ released in the last year? Just. Maybe?
1. you got this when you got your GBA ? was that the first time you played it after its release in 1990 2. two years ? :P if you take it slow,, you beat this game in between 1-3 hours. :P
Oh WOW! I best be buying one then... Also, shoutouts to getting that shell skip on Chocolate Island 3... and here I thought using Yoshi to make the goal glitch out the game map was the coolest thing you could do there. You did a wonderful job on this run!
Super FX is available for sd2snes? Why wasn't it on the news? No, seriously thanks for still supporting the sd2snes and thank you to all volunteers, who help out. Awesome run Rezephos. As always. If I may ask: Because the midair shelljump depends on speed oscilation, framerules and some other stuff, is it possible to get it 100% in RTA? I mean 20 in a row is really impressive. My best is 3 in a row and I get it around 10-15% in total.
no, it's spelled 秀樹. there is no "right" way to transliterate japanese into the latin alphabet that we use, but you'd be right in saying that "hideki" is a more conventional transliteration.
Yeah, spelling it with a "qui" is pretty weird, but they DO have a store in Japan called UNIQLO and its pronounced unikuro (you knee coo low). Japanese has 4 alphabets, hiragana, katakana, kanji, and romanji. I usually don't see "Q" in names, except in those of stores (like Don Quijote)...
So no empty jumps to fill the time. No running circles while waiting for a platform. No looking up just because. Etc. That would be the bane of most runners.
Runner introduction starts at 00:19. Run starts at 00:29.
Wow, not only do you start right off the bat, you officially put up the times on here! It's great
They finally started cutting to the chase in the UA-cam videos god bless
what does the "S" stand for in SGDQ?

thank you Mollz
I think the hardest part of this run is resisting the urge to run through the checkpoint and become big Mario
Every time I saw it my heart hurt. It felt so wrong.
For u noobs
@@Gruesome_j some pros use checkpoints if they need to be big Mario
I think it’d be perfect if they renamed this category “All Short, All Fort”

Yeah. That doesn't make sense but it does rhyme.

yeah that was an amazing joke lmao
something tells me he had that already prepared up his sleeve for SGDQ 2k18 and was itching to get to use it lmao
49:50 I have played smw for 20 years at least. Ive never hit a double shell jump. The fingers and muscle memory on these runners is extraordinary.
Playing it for 24 years and... same! I'm firing up SMW and trying that sucker for myself right now!
poor rezephos on that double shell jump level. i dont speed run but enjoy watching them and seeing someone not complete every level with ease just shows how hard some of these tricks are.
Quite possibly the hardest shell trick I have ever seen. Especially since you have to do a whole level just to try it. Amazing stuff.
Very entertaining runner and i loved the dry humor/delivery of one couch guy. Great run!

SMW is a great game - Mega Mole plushy would be p neat.
This is definitely the most interesting category I've seen in my opinion, but man some of these tricks are a nightmare. That double shell jump is absurd.
This is the best run category for any speedgame ever.
Also the run is pretty cool I guess.
Stephen Simon agreed. Better than the worst category in all of gaming, 96 exit.
James Howard
What's wrong with 96 exits?
"I don't like moles" - Literally everyone who has ever played SMW xD

11:46 "Here we've got screen scrolling shenanigans with these green beans. It's mean! Terrible screen." Fuckin calm down Dr Seuss

this is one of the best live runs Ive seen

rezephos: nice
That was highly entertaining.
aww they're all so cute at the end
So apparently small Mario is Mario as he usually looks. Yes I just googled it.
These shell jumps are so cool!
This is the funniest GDQ run I've seen
thank you! really glad I got to show off this run with an amazing couch
Best run of this sgdq

YOU ALL RUINED MY CHILDHOOD! I WAS THINKING I FINISHED THE GAME BY 100% AND NOW I SAW THIS BACKDOOR AT THE END
I just realized that the background of the timer is in binary

Wat I don't see binary in the background of the timer

Best childhood mario game!
Awesome runner .. great . High skill 👍🏾
And the ppl on the couch arent (trying to force jokes)” which makes it better 👍🏾
Thnx

I got this with my GBA back in the day. It took me like two years to finish it. Beat that speed run!

Amazing run!!
What's the name of the rom hack that you're talking about at 5:12 to practice shell jumps? thanx

Watching this compared to the kaizo hacks is like listening to classical music compared to jazz.
nice!! new video today, and one of my favorite childhood games!!
18:22 HOLD UP... There's a future where I can play Yoshi's Island on a SD2SNES? I'm ecstatic!
Legendary Super Mario not future... it's now! go do it!

There are no small runs, only small characters.
Category name ideas:
One Hit Warrior Dash
Shorties Doing Forties
The Forts and the Furiously Small
Eat my Shorts, Forts
I remember thinking I used to destroy this game as a kid but... NOPE!
like this no power up runs!
is that patty's secret brother on the couch? cause this run has some primo couch commentary!
I was wondering if it was patty in disguise
OMG! I figured out what the blue bars on the timer are! It's literally a number system, represented by the bar positions! Nice touch! :D
looks like binary
Can’t wait to see hat certified upside-down-controller-race version of SMW.
Very nice run, I enjoyed it much more than most cape runs.
Very slick with the Boo circles near 19:04 and 19:11. :)

So the singer in Nine Inch Nails has the name Trent Bui Bui?
pretty likable group
I was doing my own small run and at the 38:05 problem is where i almost gave up. But i managed the same trick as in this video. Thanks.

This is about how long it takes me to beat the game with star road.
Great run
yeah boiy best mario game imo but it was the 1st I played ever so maybe theres nostalgia there
How have I not seen this yet?
Nice... next level, do it without spin jump...
its good that ure using a snes controler with l and r screen scroll.good work.
You almost fail but you did it.
i cant believe how he owned the last fortress twice
This game was my childhood. I never got past the second boo house cause i was shit at mario when i was like 4
OK who groaned like he messed up at 1:01:35
Everyone clapping faster and faster while he was trying to do his thing at about 37:15 would have made me mess the heck up lmao. Props to this runner!
1:06:10 this is so sad, Alexa play Despacito
It was a pretty cool run
is reze from the midwest? OPE!
kentucky, lol
25:00 saws? Pretty sure those are spikey blenders guys
Can someone explain his "if this was Ocarina of Time" joke
TLoZ: OoT runs at about 20 FPS, SMW runs about 60 FPS
You have 3 frames to enter the door. Since SMW runs at 60fps while Ocarina runs at 20fps, the equivalent would be 1 frame in OoT.
1:06:02 Press F for respects.
How did the timer suddenly go from 1:09:07 to 1:09:10?
The timer stopped before they said "time"
I think your friend Umar called it Red Switch Palace because that's the name of the level, though: Vanilla Dome Red Switch.
Dax Hallman nah it's "red switch palace for the fans"
Good run.
No yump, reset!
That poor Goomba...
Its interesting that some of the words aren't in anime.
Why is that double shell jump a thing in the game? For completion bonus? Since when is a Mario game(Shut up, I've seen the true Mario 2) difficult?
you are supposed to fly using the cape (which isn't allowed in this category)
why is the audience so far away now? Part of the fun was watching the crowd acting weird and awkward.
So that they can see the games played. There are two large projectors on either side of the room that shows the gameplay.
1:03:23: since when did Mario get gold gauntlets
Yo where's grandma at?
I knew I had seen this guy before but could not recall him. Thanks dude!
so its mario: dark souls patch. noice
what category is this?
I'm late but the category is All castles and fortresses, small only.
Why is this category arbitrary

uniqlo has a number of u.s. stores as well.
Can someone explain why hes not taking the first endpoint at 44:00?
That one doesn't actually open up any level progression.
So its a fake ending? Seems weird that Mario world require a shell jump. Guess i missed something.
You missed that this is a small only run. You're supposed to use the cape and/or Yoshi.
Oh ok, knew that it was a small only but didnt connect that you were supposed to use a cape or yoshi. Thanks!
Ousel Yeah and taking the normal exit isn’t a dead end but since he was doing an all Castle run he had to get the secret exit
just shell jump that level if you're so great
Is the anime version faster than the american version?
Yes, japanese versions are often faster than their english counterparts
rezephos 4 prez
1:11:58 savage
i usually fly
like this event.. how much percent of that money is actually going to dwb?
100%, as I know
500 isn't a round number.
You good?
Avocado?
🥑
Next time there should be a donation goal "No idle fiddling of twitching while waiting"
So no empty jumps to fill the time. No running circles while waiting for a platform. No looking up just because. Etc.
That would be the bane of most runners.
Why?
