As someone who has dabbled in speedrunning, whenever something happens that isn't in the route, I usually just give up and try again. Marathon settings on games with this much rng require just as much knowledge of the game as a world record speedrun, and is just as inpressive
This game was my entry point into video games all them years ago. Special place in my heart and an amazing first impression to gaming, no wonder why I never stopped.
1:09:30 man, line can't go up forever... It was honestly amazing that you were able to top your previous year's total year after year for SO LONG. This one wasn't live, so the hype took a hit, on top of the macro economic issues you raised, on top of just general audience burn out over 13 years. Y'all are amazing and the fact that this event is as successful as it is every time it's run is kind of a small miracle
While I do miss to days of 3-4 hour finale runs of Chrono Trigger, FF6 and all of those superb JRPGs, this was a great pair of runs and Mitch & Skybilz are fantastic. Loved the finale runs and the goodbyes. We will miss you Mike!
Yesssss - unironically love it when people's bemused mums come on stream and say hi. Great work everyone. You killed it again this year. The warmth and kindness of this event make it truly special to me and having it on in the background keeps me company throughout the week.
Thank you again to everyone who helps GDQ. From the speedrunners to the technical staff to the announcers and the moderators. All of you make GDQ great to watch every year, and I couldn't be more proud to see the gaming community come together thanks to all of you and donate millions of dollars each year. Thank you.
Damn I remember watching this guy like 7(ish) years ago streaming from a house he shared with some guy that would sit and watch with him. Glad he's making a full-time go of it I hope he does well for himself.
Miss this game. Not the rage so much, lol, but I played this on release and never focused too much on speed as 100% map completion. Still cool to watch, though. Us younguns back then bragged about the most difficult level completions our neighbors couldn't do. Fun to watch, thank you.
I just love how subtly Mitch turns around briefly at 12:17 on the "Airboats" and shoots the Rocky Wrenches. I suppose that's why he's called mitchfireflower.
That was an amazing run and ending! Thank you for Mitch and all the runners, the staff, sponsors, donors, Mike and everyone who has helped with AGDQ! So many people have been helped by this.
I didn't manage to catch this one sadly, but watching Mitch play was great! Smiling all the way through, keeping his cool and doing so much math in the middle of a run, that was ridiculous and awesome!
I don't know what it is about this run, maybe its the music or the gameplay or the commentary, but it puts me right to sleep. I mean that in a 100% good way. This run is the best sleep aid for me.
Marvelous run as per usual from Mitch! Love to see your speedruns! And Mike will be missed dearly. Although I'll be seeing him on the Hotfix after today!
if i wouldn´t be so broke i would´ve jumped on that 13 train :D great work you guys do and really impressive skill, let me remember my childhood in under an hour. i love you guys!
i think it would be pretty cool if they did a super mario world kaizo, super mario bros 3 is still cool though, it was one of the first games i ever played
Things not going as planned is the charm of those events. runners getting over the mistakes and keeping the cool shows how good they really are.

Mitch: only smiles. What a fun run to watch.
Absolutely fantastic, both runs. Thank you so much for closing out AGDQ2023 in style.
Thanks Mitch for yet another wonderful display of passion.

That was a pretty good finale. Awesome work Mitch.
And nice to the staff!

Mike, thank you for all your hard work man! It makes proud to see how much a gamer can help to such a good cause :)

Another Amazing GDQ great job Tech people and runners and everybody that runs GDQ cant wait for SGDQ 2023!
I needed more mitchflowerpower in my life
Great run.....Greetings from Trinidad and Tobago
Great to see a new take on the run with the hammer manipulation, great run
Mitch the goat, always a genuine pleasure to watch 🐐
Mitch, always a great time watching you on AGDQ. Congratulations on the run !
I just love how subtly Mitch turns around briefly at 12:17 on the "Airboats" and shoots the Rocky Wrenches. I suppose that's why he's called mitchfireflower.
I thought that was amazing too.
That was an amazing run and ending! Thank you for Mitch and all the runners, the staff, sponsors, donors, Mike and everyone who has helped with AGDQ! So many people have been helped by this.
Mitch is such a good entertainer. I'm watching GDQ vods and the crowdless runs hinge so much on the runner & guest's ability to keep the energy up
Really great run got me into this game again
Thanks for bringing us the joy of smb3 everytime again! Great runner, even better event! Looking forward to watch the documentary
The hardest thing to watch on an SMB3 speedrun is Mario not jumping to catch the wand. It spits in the face of everything I believed as a child.
Great run and great job this GDQ
I didn't manage to catch this one sadly, but watching Mitch play was great! Smiling all the way through, keeping his cool and doing so much math in the middle of a run, that was ridiculous and awesome!
Mitch is so entertaining. Excellent run!
What a wonderful finale
Bravo, 'Liked' exactly at 13:00.1. Love what GDQ does and congrats to Mitch. Cheers.
Way to go Mike, a decade plus of such magic, and the ENTIRE community... well done everyone! Superb!
Mario runs are always fun to watch! Gg mitch
I’m so excited to watch this, Mitch has always been one of my top 3 speed runners. History in the making every time 💆🏻♂️
I'm not crying. It's rain
What a treat
Great run! 👏🏼
What an ending. Amazing
Great run! Sad for the hammer suit though
I don't know what it is about this run, maybe its the music or the gameplay or the commentary, but it puts me right to sleep. I mean that in a 100% good way. This run is the best sleep aid for me.
Nice run! Cheers ^_^
Marvelous run as per usual from Mitch! Love to see your speedruns!
And Mike will be missed dearly. Although I'll be seeing him on the Hotfix after today!
Mitch always manages to be so entertaining! Great run as always!
Love AGDQ!!
Mitch seems like he would be a great best friend.
I thought they were doing these live again?
The random number generation in this run is amazing. After all these years, humanity is still finding ways to optimize Super Mario Bros. 3.
Perfect timing
Great watch!
The man himself.
Always love seeing a mitchflowerpower run!
MFP is such a great runner. Haxor did a wonderful job of commentating too. Terrific camaraderie!
The GOAT delivers again! Great run, Mitch!
The benefit of Mitch playing at home instead of live is that he doesn't have to worry about the infamous PooStomp.
I now finally understand Terminal Montage.
19:57 the music in the background had perfect timing 😎
Great run I had fun
if i wouldn´t be so broke i would´ve jumped on that 13 train :D great work you guys do and really impressive skill, let me remember my childhood in under an hour. i love you guys!
Super Mario Bros. 3 is literally the golden standard for what a video game can be.
Amazing to see the wrong warp first try!
Such an incredible run by an amazing runner, shame I missed it live.
13:49 what happened to the donation amount there??? Wondering if thats the total amount of donations considering GDQ cut?
The tracker bugged and switched to a different event tracker (I think last AGDQ), then switched back to the correct event
incredible run and ending. couldn't think of a better closer than MFP! keep it up.
Does anyone know what song they used for the credits? The song that starts at 1:17:39?
The man. The Mitch. The legend.
legit style
Could have been an awesome TAS, but we are all sure it wasn’t!
Oh that's such a fun run. SMB3 can be frustrating difficult, but great to see such a fun and positive run.
That gameplay was nothing short of beautiful
51:40 Mitch hit the sun so hard he sent it back in time.
It looks sooo crewl to see the sun getting hit by a hamer and then appear halve once he appears on the other side of the screen.
Haxor, Mitch and Sky…it’s like Batman, Robin, and Batgirl - your call on who is really Batman 😂
Playing this game to recieve donations for a much better world, that’s what we want.
Great run mitch😁
Great event as always
Awesome run
i think it would be pretty cool if they did a super mario world kaizo, super mario bros 3 is still cool though, it was one of the first games i ever played
Mitch knocked it out of the park!
great run!
Go Mitch
I don't even know if i ever picked up a hammer suit in my life. We always skipped that world :-o
These speedrunners are superhuman!
I feel like drawing a Mario 3 pic, Frog Mario in Water Land😂
An amazing ending for the event!
Speedrunning masterclass
1:22:41 Whats with the MGS3 clip?
Nothing like killing a hammer bros with a hammer.
Love me some MFP. Good stuff mate. Good run.
Challenge idea: every time Mario dies, Grandpoobear has to kick you Nes. :P
That look at the camera on first hands.
Any reason why AGDQ was online this year?
the man mitch himself running mario 3, good times
I love all the GDQ's. But when are things getting back to the large crowds and live play? I think it's time.
Good run
Let's go mitchflowerpower!!!
nice play
LETS GO!!!
Dat Rainbow Road at 23:20
an instant classic. And also mitch has to be a national treasure
I was this old when I noticed there is a tanooki tail in the 3 in the title screen.
We'll miss ya, Mike. Don't be a stranger.
GDQ still not in-person? why?
charisma stat off the charts
The game runs better without a GrandPooBear to stomp on it, heh ? :D
Those were two great runs, and an equally great commentary !
😭 The end of gdq events always makes me feel like the Lil green dude at the end of
"Just For Laughs"
