whoever was responsible for switching the audio feed to whichever run was currently in first place did their job phenomenally. also, that was a nice touch
27:33 When I was a child, I played this game with my parents! I remember we would get stuck at one point because there were yellow blocks in the way, and we thought we had to cape-spin them out of the way. Every time we tried, we would Zip downwards and have no idea what happened!
Shoutouts to Authorblues at 1:12:40 making me laugh a thousand times, every time I hear him say "I'm just straight up having a bad time" I just burst out. Amazingly entertaining run, this whole block was pure gold and I keep coming back to it!
I remember spending HOURS playing this game when we used to vacation at the beach as a kid. So nostalgic to relive this through these talented speedrunners!
While the performances by the runners here are absolutely amazing, the couch commentary is what really pulls it all together. Amazing work by Skybilz and Authorblues explaining and contextualizing everything and making it at all possible to watch three concurrent speedruns without feeling utterly lost.
"I know we like frame-perfect tricks here but there's no reason to make this incentive be on the last possible frame. Free PBs are good too!" - YoBGS 2019
SPOILERS.... Appeared to me Truman was the technically best player in that he was finishing levels 1 sec or more faster. Seathorne could pull off the harder tricks easier. TNT was right in the middle of both skillsets. Only part way through but that's my analysis
13:45 "So two of them got it." Really? That's all you have to say? No comment on the guy who has been pulling up the rear the whole time, suddenly in first, by his perfect execution of the first really complex trick in the game?
"I'd like to see you do a 1-frame trick" Every Street Fighter player: "Challenge accepted" On that note: can you do piano inputs in SMW to make yumps easier? :D
Clueless Lawdamercy Ruthless it’s a meme derived from the super Mario world orb glitch. basically it’s an item that immediately ends the level and during some runs you can actually glitch an orb into your item slot and instantly end any level you want this particular run doesn’t use the orb glitch so you only get to see the legitimate orb exits which are at the timestamps above
If you enter the file-select menu frame-perfectly as Mario collects a coin on the title screen animation, that coin actually gets collected when you choose a file. We call this "swag money" :)
this came through my autoplay and I clicked cancel, but then I saw its people jamming on SMW and its magnificent perfection. besides GDQ raises a lot of money for good causes so *clicks play*

Happy New Year
When you’re shopping for a new kitchen sink and you se a really good one 4:06
underrated comment
This was a lot of fun, thanks for having us GDQ and thanks to everyone who donated and watched!
“-“
Absolute mad lads!
~3 minute difference between first and last place after a 100% clear. Mad respect!
Just about to give it a watch. Knowing this makes me even more excited!!
All the runners spinning to the music in the water levels, especially audible at 27:48 with Seathorne. Really neat!
28:26 almost seamlessly, sea travels into TNT's screen
Two minutes earlier it happened almost as smoothly as well :)
Nice catch!
That's perfect haha
Dude I was just going to comment that lol
I’m 8 months late on getting to comment these... lol
Man.. Anonymous has a ton of money.
0Pr3ssi0n definitely not going to be anonymous during a tax write off
I wonder if Anonymous and TAS are the same person.

I love how these are also available on UA-cam. Thank you so much, just being able to catch all of a GDQ is amazing ^_^

That seamless trasistion at 28:28 impressive!
"I can't boo because I have the mic..."
Best.
Line.
Ever.
Thanks for providing the names of the commentators and hosts in the description for the new runs. :)

There’s something about playing a video game on a rainy day at the beach or at night that just makes it so awesome.
Wow, a lot of that first part I was almost wondering if they'd accidentally duplicated the video for TNT and Truman, they were so synced
While the performances by the runners here are absolutely amazing, the couch commentary is what really pulls it all together. Amazing work by Skybilz and Authorblues explaining and contextualizing everything and making it at all possible to watch three concurrent speedruns without feeling utterly lost.
Great commentary
At 5:55 TNT spins with the cape in time with the music
edit: and seathorne at 27:51
I appreciate that! None of the commentators mentioned it, and I thought it was neat
It's amazing how much credit those classic games still get. Keep it up!
Super Mario World was my first video game. I did not know about the underwater level beneath the bridge.
shoutouts to the donation reader being so opitimistic even with all the bad jokes
Im sad the week is already over, but happy there were so many great runs this time :D Cant wait for AGDQ
Super Mario Maker 2 baby!
Really enjoyed the commentary on this one.
25:55 left screens looked like mario is moving to different screens :P
I noticed that too!
"I know we like frame-perfect tricks here but there's no reason to make this incentive be on the last possible frame. Free PBs are good too!" - YoBGS 2019
I cant get over how close they are throughout the run, almost to the frame
I read this right as all three are in different worlds 😂
They call it P speed because it's the speed you go when you have to pee.
its so nice to see what can be done when people come together.
Mario flew so high at 25:55 he ended up in the upper screen
SPOILERS....
Appeared to me Truman was the technically best player in that he was finishing levels 1 sec or more faster.
Seathorne could pull off the harder tricks easier.
TNT was right in the middle of both skillsets.
Only part way through but that's my analysis
Hey... I did that yoshi saw bounce trick while playing casually as a kid. I didn't even realize it was a speedrun tactic.
These runners are very subtle
The first console game I owned. Grew up playing it. Love it.
13:45 "So two of them got it." Really? That's all you have to say? No comment on the guy who has been pulling up the rear the whole time, suddenly in first, by his perfect execution of the first really complex trick in the game?
That was my first first comment! Yeah! "Yoshi. You know he's a horse because of the way he lays eggs."
"I'd like to see you do a 1-frame trick" Every Street Fighter player: "Challenge accepted"
On that note: can you do piano inputs in SMW to make yumps easier? :D
TNT absolutely killed it
Either I missed it in this episode or I missed it in one of the earlier runs, but why are there a lot of donation comments saying "E"?
Probably just because of the Markiplier meme that displays a deep-fried meme that says E.
Yooo this is EPIC! I love SMW
Is it wrong that I liked this vid just because the announcer combined a ton of anonymous pledges? honestly been waiting for that
I don't know a lot about speed running, but TNT looks like he is in another league.
Look at the in-person crowd in the back without masks. Truly the best times are behind us now.
If you are here for the orbs... Everyone is here for the orbs...
TNT: 1:14:20
seathorne: 1:15:50
Truman: 1:17:10
You're welcome.
What does orb mean?
Clueless Lawdamercy Ruthless it’s a meme derived from the super Mario world orb glitch. basically it’s an item that immediately ends the level and during some runs you can actually glitch an orb into your item slot and instantly end any level you want
this particular run doesn’t use the orb glitch so you only get to see the legitimate orb exits which are at the timestamps above
OOOOOOORRRRRRRBBBB
Clueless Lawdamercy Ruthless OOORRRRRRBBBBB
A great year this year guys! Over 2 million dollars!
3 million, actually.
I like variety of pros playing. When one dies, lose power ups, i also like to see them playing the game as intended
25:50 Left Mario merges
YUMP! @ 14:28 !!!!
11:30 "yump" explanation
man, what fantastic runs!
What a ridiculous sync in the beginning of the video. Amazing!
Spins to the tune 5:55
Oe of my favorite childhood games :)
Best game ever
shoutouts to Swedish yumps!
Seathorn had the most entertaining gameplay xD
Great commentating , I have to say.
At 57:15...What’s Marino’s favourite type of pants? Denim denim denim....denim denim denim 😂😂😂 (Think underground music from Mario Bros 1 and 3)
how do you even write that 37:47 ? just the same as jump? or what, i cannot find anything online
Just google "Super Mario Yump"
22:55 - Seathorne clips into TNT's screen
1:23:44
Amazing!
Why does Seathorne start with a coin
If you enter the file-select menu frame-perfectly as Mario collects a coin on the title screen animation, that coin actually gets collected when you choose a file. We call this "swag money" :)
What an incredible run
this came through my autoplay and I clicked cancel, but then I saw its people jamming on SMW and its magnificent perfection. besides GDQ raises a lot of money for good causes so *clicks play*
Is there any particular reason the Japanese version was used?
Chris Williams saves a bit of time on every save menu appearance
Say hello to brasil!!! Brazilians love speedruns
I own this game it's fun but I HATE ghost houses and the water levels but I can beat the game casually
Authorblues is so good as a commentator.
They hit time on TNT too early lmao.
I can't believe it
I really enjoyed Skybilz' input on the couch. Yay for girl gamers!
You should put the players name on the screen that's them. I don't know who's who nor where.
The box with the runner's name connects to his screen.
Pay more attention next time... lol
Wow world record😎
What category is this?
96 Exit
Marco Ramírez 96-Exit. Pretty much the 100% category where you get all the normal and secret exits for each level.
96 exits
100%?
Thank you everyone
Don't get why it's not called %100
Wooooooo!
One person donated $10,000....amazing.
Butter Bridge 1 SUCKED! I HATE IT SO MUCH! I CAN NEVER BEAT IT WITHOUT DYING AT LEAST ONCE!
Love for SMW
