Really one of the best videos out there! In other videos walls are always perfect and installation made simple. This is a real world scenario where the wall was uneven and spray foam was a savior. Obviously, they should have applied it 100% correct themselves.
As an ex decorator of 50 yrs ( retired ) it's nice to see a tradesman at work , it's all about attitude there's only two ways to do the job the right way and the wrong way there's no inbetween .
Do you think this method would work with large gap between my window frame and brick? After I apply the expanding foam should I silicone or caulk? The window and frame are white, so I was thinking of maybe using white silicone???? Any advice would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!
Hi... Love your attention and attitude towards your trade it's a great pleasure to watch. I have a question and I hope you can reply and if not I totally understand. How do I paint over gloss...do I just go over it with the new chosen colour gloss or is there more to it? Would really appreciate your help. Anyway I pray that you are well and good. Stay safe my brother
Using Soudal expanding polyurethane foam is fine, especially with the half masked area. However in sunlight it goes brown and starts to fall to dust after a few years. What about masking the brick and wood side and using mortar or an exterior water based filler. This could be painted afterwards. What it does need is someone to show how to get mortar and filler into variable widths gaps with some sort of U channel and pusher rod. Rubber gloves, fingers and a bit of stick makes a mess and does not do the job well. Polyfilla used to come in a squeezable tube, but a mastic cartridge version would be easier. There are cement mastic guns, but a plasticiser is added to the cement and gorillas with strong enough hands are difficult and expensive to hire. The aim is to get an aesthetic fill which lasts.
Nice work. A 20 minute job that if the fitter of the door would have carried out would have finished his role off nicely. No pride unfortunately. Keep them coming.
The only thing I was trying to see done was how a gap is filled and with what product....... BUT.... That's the tiny part in the whole video that you chose to record with the camera so far away, that nothing can be seen!?!?!?
2:10 Next time you don't have to show the entire 5 minutes doing the same thing over and over. Show us the first parts so the viewer can get the idea. Then cut the video to the next section. Or simply fast forward the section. 😑

Thank you, my dad always said that.
As a DIYer, I feel like i’m doing it the wrong way 90% of the time 🥲
Make sure you tape it first. That way, you don't have the extra step of cleaning it off of the morter, brick, and trim. Cheers !
Is there a video showing the missing last part - after the foam filler is removed and a clean brick? Did you paint something?
So.. can I ask.. you fill gap with foam. Do you then use a sealant after?
Really enjoy your videos. They've been such a help trying to get my house into shape. Thank you!
Your welcome thanks.
Great video. In my situation the stone is not so straight. Small to larger gaps. Do you have a video for that?
Would like to see the caulking process..
Another great vid! Why did you not put tape on the doorframe as well before applying the foam?
There is foam cleaner that you can just spray on to remove the overrun of the expanding foam.
Was that masking tape on the brick? I tried it, it just kept falling off!
best video yet
Thank you
@@PaintingandDecorating Thank you
Great video. Question - if the doors move with time will the foam cause any issues?
Thank you and no the doors will be fine.

I have Grey windows so I figured I’d use grey Silicone.
I’ve seen people with white windows use brown the same shade as their brick.
Good job, I liked it. A few more tips for me to take on board for next time.
Thank you

i really need to know so i can do the same with my windows.
thanks for the video!
Caulk around edges to brickwork.. thanks
he used Soudal Gap Filling Expanding Foam
@@PaintingandDecoratingyou used decorators caulk outside to seal the frame to the wall?
What are those products your using?
One is Soudal gap filling foam.. and brown caulk.. not silicone.. thanks
Why not use Oakum and linseed putty?
Do you want to sratch the frame anymore like ?
I wanted to see exactly how you sprayed the foam and how much, that’s all I was interested in and you sped it up and went far away.
Good job, but shame you didn't show what product you where using ..
great job old man...
Thank you.
cracking job there mate 👌
Thanks 👍
@@PaintingandDecorating I got the foam and the caulk, but what type of tape are you using? And do you also use silicone as well
Great video!.... found this most helpful, thanks for sharing it :) .
Thanks your welcome.
At 3.08. You're strangling that hammer. What's ever done to you?
Hello :) What areas do you work in?
Very good just asking do you have to seal around it with silicon or will it be ok as it is for the damp weather
Thanks, we use caulk to fill over the top and silicon is no good near paint.
@@PaintingandDecorating Do you paint over the caulk or can you get colour to match?
How bout a nice timber bead around instead
@@peterkarakoulakis5031 you could but there would be still a small amount of caulking that would need doing. Thanks
Do you need to use anything like pva or water or primer before applying the caulk or does it go straight into the foam?
It would have been even better if he showed the whole process
Name of the. Materials used between gap
Very good!
Thank you.
Spot on
Thanks.
awesome!!!!
do you do the caulking?
that's a perfect finish are you going seal it silicon after enjoyed the video.
Thanks, we use caulk not silicon.
