Finally I found a video that is very well detailed and easy to follow!! I’m a single mother who recently just got ripped off by a contractor $50,000!! He started the job and left me with a huge mess and no money to hire someone else to fix it! Wish me luck trying to do this myself. I have everything I need to do this job. I just need to take it slow and steady.
Subscribed right away! You have no idea how long I've been trying to find a detailed video of how to do this. You did such an amazing job describing everything and bless you a hundred fold for adding the items in the description to help me figure out what I'll need for the job. I have been bragging about this video to my whole family. I've never done drywall but now I'm getting some confidence I can do this myself, even with the lack of skills :) THANK YOU!
Great video, no crazy music,no screaming, just great tutorial and so humble about his work that he makes me feel I can do it too. Also super clean...I make a bigger mess just brushing my hair.
Good example of a simple DIY look. One detail about the caulk: when smoothing it with your finger, the caulk should only cover about 1/4" of the window frame. The caulk needs to be painted, because dust will stick to unpainted caulk and it cannot be cleaned. And you don't want excess paint visible on your window frame. So keep it tight.
@@garymugford3273 Other than wet environments, silicone is not the best for appearance grade finish work. It is tricky to apply with precision, it cannot be easily smoothed, and it is not paintable. An exposed, unpaintable bead of caulk will not provide a clean uniform appearance. A quality latex caulk around interior windows is easier to apply. You can smooth and feather it with a wet finger, it seals well, paints well and is flexible enough for slight movement.
Thank you for this great video. Easy for someone like me who knows absolutely nothing to be able to follow. I need to repair sill damage in my apartment and I'm confident I can do so thanks to you.
It's so clear and understandable What'sWith this step by step process. You didn't leave anything to the imagination And thank you for not having us guess how to do the next steps ..... Great job. I wish you could teach other youtubers how to Do tutorials LOL.
Omg this is exactly what I need to do for my house I’m renovating!! Going to follow step by step for my bedroom! Anything special i should do for bathroom windows???
Great video. I am redoing some windows and wasn't really sure what I want to do with window ledge. My brother did some of my window ledges this way. Unfortunately he passed away and I didn't get to watch him do the work. I will by trying this. However I may do the bottom edge with wood.
Nice explanatory video, thanks! I was wondering, in my case I have enough gap all around inside window frame to run my sheetrock strips actually back into that gap all around as well. I was thinking, why not do this? Still caulk and use foam as needed, but why not?
Thanks for showing this because i was curious how people prepping around the window for installing the tile although ypu used drywall rather than the tile, but i assume we can use tile over drywall with the same prepping that you showed?
Love watching your videos. I have a question my window has bigger gap between wall the the window like maybe 1.5" because my shiety contractor measured wrong. How would I cover the gap?
Great video. Can you link to the "corner bead" you used to give the window edges a straight edge. I have googled to find this and I cant find it. I am in Europe so we might call it something else here.
I pad a 'pro' to do this, he didn't use drywall, just some wood, corner bead and build it up and plaster / filler.. it cracked in multiple places when it got cold
What a great video! Thank you for making it... this was the educational video I needed to see. I have a follow up question: I have to remove/repair some of the joint compound where it attached to the corner bead and I'm wondering how to properly paint over the edge of the metal at the 90 degree angle? It seems like simple paint would quickly get rubbed off. Or maybe the paint would hold better once I replace the joint compound and make it a cleaner edge? Not sure... any advice you can give is greatly appreciated.
Lots or work, it looks good. This would have been a good situation to use L bead where the edge of the drywall meets the window. Especially tear-away bead.
Dude thank you for doing a tutorial that makes SENSE for finishing a preexisting window. What do you do for an arched window if the hole in the drywall is a rectangle? The last owner of my place never finished it and the drywall edges even broke off in some places. 🥲 I've currently got foam setting to take care of the draft, but my situation is so weird that I don't know how to handle the upper half of the window
What separates the inside from the outside? There is a gap between my drywall and the window, and I'm worried that if I remove it I'll have a bigger gap, or remove what the window is sitting on so there isn't anything but exterior caulk sitting between the gap and the exterior. Does that question make sense? And is it something a professional would need to answer? Lol
It hurts to watch this, I’m sure it came out good but he needs some more experience applying mud. Also it looks way better to trim the window with wood and a decorative casing around. Less work and looks better.

You can do it 💪
That’s terrible! But 6 months later, did you do it?
I am also wondering as I'm needing to start this soon. How did it go?
Oh wow. Very terrible contractor. Hope you finished the project
Dealing with POS contractors myself but I didn’t lose $50k so I know that feeling! Hope you got it fixed!

Thanks for breaking this process down. As someone who never did this process before, with your video. I was able to repair my window trim on my own!
I’m glad I could be of help! Thank you for the feedback! I wish you well on your project! 👍🏽😊🙏🏽

Should it not be silicone around a window??

Thank you for this great video. Easy for someone like me who knows absolutely nothing to be able to follow. I need to repair sill damage in my apartment and I'm confident I can do so thanks to you.
Perfect video! I was freaking out about what I could do to this window. 🙏🏾
This is a great video, definitely following this technique as I repair my daughter’s house🎉

Best video I've seen on this. Thank you so much.

Excellent job! So you won’t need a window sill? I’ve removed tile sills and not sure how to replace…
Looks amazing and brand new brother! Great job!
Thank you so much brother! 🙏🏽😊
Good job! I need this for 2 windows. Just what I have been looking for.
Thank you 🙏🏽! I’m glad I could be of help! 😊
This is exactly what I need! Thank you sooooooooo much for sharing!
I’m glad I could be of help! Thank you for watching! 🙏🏽😊
Can you come and fix my old windows too. You are such a neat professional

Great video…very informative and it’s just like my project! Thank you very much
Oh my goodness. This is awesome. So clear and to the point. Do I need a paper corner bead if I am only repair the top of the window?
*repairing
The sides didn't need corner bead but the top and bottom did? Can you explain why not all edges? Thanks
Nice work. I’m the opposite, I want to rip out the drywall finish around my windows and install wood trim details.
Fantastic work, man!
Thank you Ronaldo! 🙏🏽😊👍🏽
Great Video! What is corner trim piece you used in the video? Does it come with different depth?
Great video. Reall nicely explained. Thank you
What can we use in the bathtub sill instead of drywall?
Great video. Can you link to the "corner bead" you used to give the window edges a straight edge. I have googled to find this and I cant find it. I am in Europe so we might call it something else here.
Thanks very nice explanations n I like so much.👍
Great video! Thanks for posting.
Good one. Always unique project. Thanks
Thank you so much! 🙏🏽😊
I use pre set 20 minute mud in gaps. It doesn't shrink like jt compound.
Amazing job bro!
Thank you Sergio! 🙏🏽😊
How did you remove the recess trim? The first part you did where your video was on high speed.
Shouldn't there be some kind of waterproof flashing covering the inside?
I was worried why my contractor using drywall instead of Wood. So drywall is a acceptable way of install ?
Great video and very informative 👏Thank you
I pad a 'pro' to do this, he didn't use drywall, just some wood, corner bead and build it up and plaster / filler.. it cracked in multiple places when it got cold
Fantastic video! Thank you!
Hello !
Tell me pls about the paper corner !
What is the name exactly. I would like to buy it from Amazon if is available.
Thank you !
thank you for this detailed video

What does this do for energy efficiency or (non-)soundproofing? Is it worse than the old stuff?
Thanks for the inspiration to finish my windows
Thank you Ulysses! You got this! 💯😊👍🏽🙏🏽
Great job. I am just about to do a very similar job.
That looks sick. I hate trim around windows lol.
Lots or work, it looks good. This would have been a good situation to use L bead where the edge of the drywall meets the window. Especially tear-away bead.

Drywall absorbs water hence mold!
How long does it take for everything to dry? I’m wondering if I can do this all in one day?
Awesome Job
Nice 👍 just looks wavy
Why the spray texture?
What separates the inside from the outside? Does the frame have to be removed to insulate existing windows? I have windows in place and wasn't planning to replace.
Excuse my noobness, but why do we remove the wooden jambs again? Why cant we just put cornerbeads directly on the wooden jambs and mud & paint?
Those windows look awesome you don't even need trim
Wow this looks good
there's a giant hump in the middle, pretty rough!
Shouldn’t the whole window have been taken out? I didn’t see any of the sealing tape around it
Great video. Well laid out - only question is what about flashing/proofing on the wood inside (given it was open)?
Well done!!
Wood casing will always add value to a home. What you did here actually lowers the value of the house. Finish trim work is a great add to any home.
I think a combo works the best
Wood casing looks terrible imo. We skipped all the houses that had it when we went house hunting.
Wood casing is good for a farm style, not for a modern slick interior. I hate trims around windows, it looks old. Great video!
Good job.
Thank you 🙏🏽!
Looks great.
Thank you 🙏🏽!
Holy crap never use hot mud for a sanding coat it don’t sand well
I don't N95 mask is good enough in that small space bud, wear a dual respirator mask like a 3M P100 mask.
Thank you for the Advice John! 🙏🏽😊
Thanks this helps
this looos soooo good
Thank you so much! 🙏🏽😊
Need to clean out that gutter outside the window - it's blocked up and running over.
Yes haha! It’s like a waterfall! Stay tuned for a future video 👍🏽😊
I saw that immediately and was going to say that will wreck your fascia, soffit and window as well. Too funny.
👍👍😉
Your supposed to hold the foam can upside down lol
12 minute video. In reality a 2 day job waiting for compound to dry, paint to dry.
Why would you not wood frame this window then add mouldings?
It hurts to watch this, I’m sure it came out good but he needs some more experience applying mud. Also it looks way better to trim the window with wood and a decorative casing around. Less work and looks better.
It looks better if you like decorative trims. But if you want no trims because you hate em - this would be a way to go. 😎
I like the frameless look better because it looks clean 🤷
right on !!! a fking contractor would have charged 10k
I’m here to help and save you a lot of 💰! 👍🏽😊
