CB earning his name with this one. I think fighting for road was a losing battle all around. I think you should have at least considered settling the 3:1 first. You had so much n ore and wheat, it would have helped all much. And not settling when purple offered a trade that would have put you both on 9, but you still with cities. And not double popping early when producing cities was easy. Costly 7 out followed. Also you got so down. Losing the wheat port hurt but you weren't out of it. Glad you didn't rage quit. Wild game.
Yup I sure do 😂 I think the bigger misplay was not pushing harder for the 2:1 wheat port, but yes my roads near the end didn’t help me either, still it made for a wild game. And you’re right about not giving up I really should’ve tried to stay motivated to win because I did after all that, and getting unmotivated does nothing to help your game. And what do you mean by double popping? Haven’t heard that haha
Watching some of these videos hurt 😂 but he owns up to it, and seems to be learning.

12:00 I think it was a pretty huge blunder not to take the wheat for wood trade. Wood is rare for you and you need it to settle so this is an amazing trade for you. You could still 4:1 ore for brick and build your road, but then you'd have an additional wood in hand. This would have greatly increased your chances of settling on the wheat port.
27:00 I would have built on the 3:1 port. You need sheep to win so the port is more useful than the additional wheat on the 3 roll.
29:40 I would have 4:1 ore for sheep and settled on the 3:1. That sets you up to win because you can pretty easily build two cities, whereas it's hard for you to build settlements and you could get snubbed out of settlement spots by red. The 3:1 port also gives you the flexibility the port for sheep and buy more devs
Yeah this game was truly all over the place! Haha but if I didn’t make all these blunders this game wouldn’t have been nearly as close as it was, which kinda made it fun. I thought not getting wheat port was the turning point 😂

6:56 why is the 2:1 a no-go? Red is no threat at all and you have an abundance of O+W while you desperately need a street. You dropped your holy wood on your next turn and at 9:28 you somehow recon that you citied up everything you have and -- surprise! -- you still rely on beneficial trades for your next settlement.
That sequence was a bit painful to watch :D
Yeah I was being greedy there, I definitely should’ve done the 2:1 to at least get that road, it really hurt me as you saw 😂 but hey at least my misplays made for a more exciting game

It was a pretty crazy series of events haha, but I shouldn’t have gotten so down because of it 😎
A few things.
1. Had you played the road around the 11 ore instead of to the 3:1 port you would have won on that turn because you could have built 3 roads to get to 8.
2. You needed to save your materials to build a settlement instead of fighting for longest road because then you could have done a city for the win.
3. When you were battling for longest road you went along the 11 ore where you were capped instead of going where you had open space.
You 100% should have won this game. Even after getting your wheat port stolen.
I guess you still won haha
In regards to your first point yes you’re totally right I should’ve placed that road going around the 11. But I didn’t have the win because I didn’t have the 3 roads, I was 1 brick off, but still VERY close and yes big blunder since that play could’ve won me the game if I did have the 1 extra brick. And yeah my road placements in the endgame were definitely a big waste, I figured I was gonna lose anyway so I didn’t care. Goes to show you shouldn’t play with a defeatist mentality lol
2 main blunders: setteling on 11-3-4 instead of 3-1 port and fighting for road. I'd build 3-1 first, then settle easily on 11-3-4 and then buying devs and cities

Hahaha that game was insane, You usually don't see much coordination between the players in games without voice chat. This game was one of the exceptions

Man, it sucks when you have the cards for a city but without a settlement on the board to city up- especially without a sheep to at least get a dev card out of it! lol

If the table talk is against you, especially from the person in the stronger spot, you need to defend yourself. There is no reason green should be calling the shots with that early game setup.
I think at the beginning it was fairly justified for the other players to target my wheat port since it basically would’ve won me the game, but after it was taken you’re right I should’ve defended myself at least to try and stop getting stolen from
I think you should thing more about your steels, not only for who is in the lead, also who has the resources you need

Red was an absolute newb this game. Wasting their ore to buy 2 dev cards instead of city. Army battle was already lost and they would most likely hold longest rd anyway (albeit your road building mistake). Red could have won this game if they made some better decisions
I think all around this game all players including myself could’ve played better which made for a very interesting game! But you make a good point about the army battle being lost already
You're right, the 6 5 10 is a much better first placement. It kills the 9 10 6 and 10 8 5 and you can probably snag the 9 10.

It’s funny how you don’t see the issues during the game. I would have settled on the 4/port instead of the 3/4/11. You would have been able to trade and settle faster. Also you were so focused on red but red was stuck with no ore =7 point score.
It shouldn’t come as a surprise considering I’m called Catan blunders, but you make some good points! Don’t worry I recognized many of my mistakes after I watched this game back

You weren't paying attention? You missed settling on the 3 for 1 port altho' it was too late anyway.maybe only buying dev cards early on would have stopped them from targeting you so much?
I think I did eventually settle on the 3:1 port, but yeah I did miss settling on it earlier on

man, you are just lucky in these games. Sorry, but you make such bad moves XD. why not port the wheat when u have 6 cards? youre gonna 7 out and u dont produce the other cards, noone is trading with u... just port it! Also why block the 9 brick of purple, when they have another 8 brick??? Block the wood, so they dont have the chance to produce any.

Ya know we’ve all had our bad games in Catan, including yourself I’m sure, I just decide to post a huge catalogue of my gameplays on this UA-cam channel. The difference is that I’m not ashamed of my bad games, Catan is a difficult game to get good at, so with that comes learning experiences. ALSO my UA-cam name is literally called Catan Blunders… so it really shouldn’t be surprising when I make blunders in Catan… yet I get comments like these where people are surprised when I make blunders 😂
