- Create an intricate grid design inside of After Effects using only built-in plug-ins.
EDIT NOTE:
Title Templates Revision: To create the Title Template comp:
1. Use Text tool to add text. Add a white stroke on black type.
2. Pre-Compose by choosing "LAYER-PRECOMPOSE all Attributes".
3. That's it!

8 years later and I'm still learning so much from that same tutorial
9 years later and I'm still learning so much from that same tutorial
10 years later and I'm still learning so much from that same tutorial
This is seriously one of the coolest things I've seen that can be done with a video editor. Very clear tutorial, nice job!
I was already planning on buying E3D when I get to that stage in my learning, but if I hadn't been, I would be now. All the tutorials you do for regular non-plugin effects, the free plugins, the quality and enthusiasm of your teaching style. I'm so impressed and thankful, as a learner, that I don't think I could express it without sounding even more goofy and corny than I undoubtedly already do. Thank you.
Still relevant even many years later, thank you. I'm just in the middle of this tutorial but I already have so many ideas about how to use the same effects to achieve different results.
im always in awe of how you even think that these effects and layers can turn out like that. have loved you videos for a long time
Yet another God-tier tutorial here!! Love it, i genuinely struggle to believe that this is all free too! Incredible work Andrew as ever! Sidenote - i was having issues with editing the bezier curve at 04:27 , whereby i couldn't rotate the handles when changing the curve. I fixed it by clicking the 'choose graph type and options' button, and switching it to value graph rather than speed graph. Just wanted to share in case anyone else is experiencing this issue :) Thanks again Andrew! These videos are genuinely timeless!!
Andrew, thank you SO MUCH for your tutorials.
We really apreciate it as much as I can't even describe!
I learned so many techniques watching you, but there's one lesson that definitely all us learned with you... Experimentation! That's the key... Many thanks Andrew
I've been using this tutorial for the past couple days and the project came out great! Thanks a lot Andrew, killer tutorial. If I may make a suggestion, could you do a keystroke overlay so we know exactly which shortcuts you're using? Thank you again!!
Each time Andrew says it, I like that he finds his own tutorials so exciting. :)
Love these CoPilot videos! Clear and impressive easy-to-follow delights. And very funny.
It always amazes me on how you can create such elaborate things with minimum work!
Brilliant stuff. Clear and impressive demonstrations that are easy to follow. Love it.
The main thing i'm learning about Vfx is: It doesn't matter how your project looks inside the software, if its just a bunch of weird layers all improvised or whatever.
What matters is the final result, the render. BUT you have to remember you may want to change something later, so your project must be recursive.
Anyone who needs help with the Text, I worked it out. You have to go to Compostion in the to menu -> new. The create a new Text layer by selecting "Layer - New -> Text" from the top menu, you can style it how you want with the Font options box on the right/where you see paragraph, effects etc. He's using the Font "Die Hund", copy his options to get to the stroke(white border). This composition will be in your project panel on the left. Click the "The Grid" composition where his says "Comp 1, Output Grid, The Grid A, Digital Growth" etc, then drag your text composition from the project box down and put it above the Digital Growth layer and it will be like his, then you can continue from from 13:37 (his text layer/composition is named "Title_Template".
Hope that helps anyone else who gets stuck :)
The Greatest motion designer. Thank you very much for all your stuff and tutorials.
AK never stops surprising me with this great videos!
My 100th favorite video !
Keep up the good work !
Thanks for sharing all your knowledge haven't had a chance to play with this yet but very excited. You are awesome!
Your stuff is inspirational! Thank you for taking the time to post these videos.
Great advice on experimenting. I think that is a great way to learn more about the effects and overall design skills.
You have to watch the tutorial very close. Do not just follow what he says in words, push the pause button anytime the cursor moves, to see what he just hit. Also, when he makes his adjustment like (opacity) I would pause and put the exact numbers. One thing I noticed (among others), was that the tutorial composition is for ten seconds, but if you time the video of the actual effects, it is approximately 18 seconds long. So there are things you have to play around with like he says in his tutorial. I like that he leaves a few things (simply things) out because that forces you to learn. Maybe a little frustrating, but I have learned so much!! Thanks Andrew!
You are so good at what you do, Andrew!
Hey thanks man easy steps. feel like I could learn more. did not know after effects could be that awesome cheers and happy new year
That is amazing. My personal favorite from you, Andrew.

"Rotate it 45 degrees. Makes it about 45% more futuristic." Ehehehehe
The secret to AK's success: add another adjustment layer, and push it back in z space, followed immediately by the ancient chant, "Pr Et iK Ool."
lolz
You forgot to change it to screen.
Could anybody explain me how the GRID text was executed....coz that was not shown in this tutorial i.e from 13:34
And I am unable to drag the Grid back to Z space and neither able to use the Camera from 17:54
Please help me clarify my doubts anybody

Excelente tutorial. Gracias Andrew
Esta perro es efecto y las letras!
i love your tutorial
When I add the pre-rendered "Digital Growth" around 26:00 I can adjust/duplicate it how I like. I set it to screen to blend in and it looks perfect. But when I toggle into 3D the "screen" setting seems to go away leaving me with the black BG again...anyone know why this happens??
I will try this ASAP!
