Sound like Frédéric Chopin without busting the bank
Hahahahahahahaha...
Sergei Rachmaninnoff?
ukelele into Metal zone in a Leslie. Will get you that chopin tone on etude n°25 any day, any place.
YESSSS!!!!!
haha, yeah ! XD
all you really need is fender with a humbucker for early material. gibson with a p90 for newer material. into a marshall.
Preach but they should be using the blues driver for the new stuff and the tube screamer for the old stuff
Listen to this man
But his blue strat wasn’t a fender it was actually a Fernandes copy
@@cooperpertzel6721 Same difference.
For old tone from dookie should I go older Marshall amps or new and any epiphone or gibson if I could afford it
6:18
Me: *Sees Gibson Krist Novoselic RD bass and Rickenbacker Chris Squire 4001CS in the background* Sound Like Nirvana By Busting or Sound Like Yes Without Busting at some point please :D
I have never agreed with a comment more in my life
the krist novoselic sig bass doesnt have humbuckers. Thats just a regular RD bass
ßilly ßadass You’re right, I must not have noticed the pickup configuration before. I just saw the bass and thought of Novoselic
FateBringsMe2U Agree with which one, Nirvana, Yes or both?
Andrew Pappas YESSS 🙏🙏 PLEASE DO NIRVANA BY BUSTING
you guys should go over bass rigs more, especially when covering punk trios like Greenday or blink!
An up for this! Bass rigs need some love! 😁
Green day is not punk any more
@@alexkidd4979 1) this was a year ago.
2) obviously referring to everything pre-21st century breakdown
Fender needs to make a Billie joe sig strat like his blue even though his isn’t a fender
Jeremy Burnett I think many attempted to make Blue but Billie didn't really anything BUT Blue
If Slash can have tons of Gibson guitars even when the legendary AFD Les Paul isn't an original Gibson, then obviously Billie Joe can have a "Blue" strat by Fender. The only problem here... He's married with Gibson, but hey! Clapton has worked with both Fender & Gibson, the same goes for Gilmour, Hendrix and many other players.
And then Fender can charge us 1500 quid for it
@@wv2100 Well, Kurt Cobain is such a "legendary" guitar player and his Sig is around $1000 and $1200 dollars.
Emilio Montes de Oca González even worse when you think that Kurt used cheap, modified pieces of crap a lot of the time 😂
Why not get a Gibson AND a fender if you're gonna do 2 guitars
Cool! Now Prince by busting the bank with Mr Honore!👍❤️
squier telecaster
a fender amp
Boss DS2
Boss OC3
Boss CE5
Boss DD3
and maybe a wah
William Allison didn’t he use a Boogie combo?
@Anthony Sclafani i never knew that, so maybe a Roland JC40 or an Egnater Tweaker for amp cos it'd be a without busting first
then for the whole by busting get the full on fender tele and a boogie combo
@@KeeperOfPoops Mesa Flux Drive
Alter Bridge by busting (Mark & Myles). You've remade nearly all the original shoot, and they've both got great tones.
Bonus points if you guys try to do the vocals too lol
I'd love to hear Bea play Blackbird!
Cry of Achilles has to be one of the best opening tracks to any modern mainstream heavy album in a while.
Please do this! Alter bridge are amazing 😀
Sound like Eric Johnson! (Mostly because I want to see you play Cliffs of Dover)
Rabea is an excellent guitarist and it's a famously hard song so of course I want to see him have a crack at it!
Jokes aside Eric Johnson has excellent tone.
Sounding like Green Day When you can't find anything you need!
So true!! Haha😅
Couldn't believe how good that sounded at 11:40. Outrageously good tone.
I think Rabea is one of the most generous musicians I have ever seen. That is all.
I’ve waited so long for this!!!🤘🤘
Definitely a lot closer to Billie's tone than the without busting. Great job guys! I wanna see a without busting and a by busting for Hippo Campus.
i agree, the without busting was a bit thin, this was more fat and modern sounding
I started playing the guitar about two years ago and when I was looking to buy my first electric, this vid is what convinced me buy the Bonneville. And I‘m so glad I did.
the drummer from Green Day bought me a kebab after a gig they played in a leeds pub which sadly is no longer there. the pub, not the drummer. tru story.
Tom Tres Cool is still in a pub in Leeds?!
That Duesy sounds like it would be the perfect AC/DC guitar.
Tom Petty and The Heartbreakers next please.
I second this!
Tom Petty and Mike Campbell. A challenge indeed!
YES!
@@grummanf-14tomcat8 Don't forget Scott.
Yes yes yes!
Another great vid guys. It looks like you had a lot of fun with this one
You finally nailed this one, I personally didn't like the previous one you guys made, but this one really nailed that green day tone! Justice has been served ❤️
After working in a music store in the 80's , I first wanted to thank you both for taking me back to the some of the best days of my life. Working in the store during the day, playing out with the band at night, good times.
Beyond that, you both are awesome and incredibly talented. You are knowledgeable about both the music and the gear you sell way beyond the point of most people who have been working in some of the stores or more importantly think that they could. The way that you can pair up the instrument and amplifier with the accessories to achieve the best sound is evidence of deep industry experience.
I really appreciate what you are doing and I'll keep watching. All the best, Pete
Best video ever on the channel
Another great job guys!
YES I’VE BEEN WAITING FOR THIS
The Police. Andy Summers! Would love to see that. To bust or not to bust, doesn't matter so much to me in this respect. Thank you!
This is relevant to my interests
That would be a cool challenge. The Roland JC and the Roland guitar synth sounds would be tricky to fully recreate with pedals.
@@alexstewart839 JC-40, Tele with a neck humbucker, Reverb, Delay, Dyna Comp and an Electric Mistress will get you a long way there.
@@therflcommish Yeah ,but the history of the Sound Like series is filled with commenters claiming that "most of the way there" isn't good enough. That's part of the fun of watching people dissect famous players' tones. Sometimes 80% still feels really off the mark.
@@alexstewart839 on your point, the people who comment that "most of the way there" isn't enough are too cowardly to try and record themselves getting the artists tone themselves.
This is MUCH more accurate than the without busting the bank. I feel like the biggest problem last time was not using a Marshall DSL40. If you want the BJA tone, you gotta use a Marshall, not a Blackstar
I've waited for this for so long.
Great episode... nailed it!!!
I have been waiting for this day
Also the amps that Billie uses are 2 Marshall super lead plexis called Pete and mete. Pete has the dookie mod on it, which gives it another gain stage, and a volume control with some other enhancements , while mete has a more general mod called the gain mod, that also adds a gain stage and volume knob.
His blue strat is a Fernandez copy from the late 70s that originally had a bill lawrence 500XL pickup in it. He recorded all albums up to Dookie with that pickup, and not soon after that he switched to the Seymour Duncan JB. When nimrod came around, he began to use old juniors with p90s and humbuckers, and he did so until about the American idiot era. After that he’s used rickenbackers, les Paul’s (standards and customs) , and gretsch guitars for live use, and on ¡Uno!, ¡Dos!, and ¡Tre!.
He switched out to the Seymour Duncan because his 500XL was trashed at Woodstock ‘94 from the mud fight
Sound like Alice in Chains BY busting the bank.
Finally you did it thank you so much ly guys❤️🤟🏻🤟🏻🤟🏻🤟🏻
that Duesenberg sounds amazing! Looks great too, I love the lightning bolt inlays. I might start saving up for one of them
Sound like "Dinosaur Jr. " please!!!!
Just get 100 big muffs
Yes please!!!!!
Gerzain corral j stacks multiple fuzzes besides big muffs
@Guilherme Ribeiro J Mascis has always recorded with a Les Paul Jr. On the most recent recordings he went almost all Telecaster
You guys should do Stevie Ray Vaughan BY busting the bank
Yeah, they didn't nailed it in the video
Glad you touched on the bass "sound" as well. More please! 😊
The Duesenberg Bonneville is unbelievable !! Bravo !
I'd have got a HSS strat as well for pre American idiot personally, but either way, it's a vaste improvement on last time
N / A more like pre warning, that’s when he switched to les Paul juniors and then SGs for a little while
@@JakobSeidl being honest, I forgot about that, I'm not a huge fan of warning being honest
Warning was when he went to the Les Paul Junior.
Lee Whitworth he used juniors for a couple of tracks on Nimrod like Grouch
Nice intro mates😂
I‘ve been waiting👍🏻
Guitar players sleeping in a video room!👍🏻
And please do a
-Sound like Dorje without and by busting
-Joe Bonamassa by Busting
-Brian May by Busting
-Rabea Massad without and by busting
go ahead and add on a sound like Toska to that
Just get a Custom Shop ‘59 Les Paul Standard and an ES-355 and a custom shop Stratocaster and Telecaster and an old Fender amp for Bonamassa
Basket Case sounded fantastic, nailed the tone
Great !! Love it !! Raw
Common guys, that Dusenberg is not LPJ vibe. It's Malcolm Young Gretch. Every lightnings should have given you that idea. btw LPJ is not Junior.
This is more like it... Well done fellas...! How about The Cult...?!?!
You did a good job, i found myself loud singing the Lyrics of the Songs as if their were a karaoke version.
nice to have you back lads
Please do Rory Gallagher!!
strat, fuzz, orange/marshall
busting: ac30 and bassman, flanger, ocative
strat, rangemaster-style treble booster, Vox
Blvd of broken dreams played the same way as the trinity grade 5 book?
awesome. simply awesome.
Love that Black Futures shirt you got there, Matt
Sound like DEF LEPPARD!!! 🤘🤞
What?
@@DylanHutto the english band.. Def Leppard.. no?..
I was joking. Cuz it's def
YES
@@fernetbranca9 Def Leppard suck
I am keeping my hopes up for a Sounds Like Metallica BY busting the bank, but this one is also great
They already did it
Wooo! Great guitar
YES! i asked for this!!
Sound like Black Flag or The Descendents
Seabreeze Rides hell yeah! Maybe Circle Jerks or Bad Religion too?
Great! Now Blink 182 By Busting! And Paramore cause they've got some cool tones.
Edit: Maybe do Bush?
Paramore would be interesting, my friend loves that band
@@andrewpappas9311 Indeed it would. Bush would also be pretty cool.
josh271203 early bush, anything after the first two sucked
Thank god this made my day
Loving the Black Futures love going on here :)
Please do Sound like A7X, Eric Johnson, Steve vai and Yngwie malmsteem whitout busting the bank plzzzz i BEG YOU
Eh, I'm not convinced. A day to Remember Without/by busting the bank, please!
i'm convinced, it's way better than the original version
Really accurate, love it
Love it guys! I't'd be awesome to see Monuments on here!
Eddie Van Halen with his marshall tone
for guitars he had Fender, Musicman, Kramer and now his own EVH so either an budget musicman Axis or a wolfgang
his amps were marshalls run through a variac power supply and he now has EVH, but since you said Marshall get the Boss Katana 50 or 100 cos it has a brown setting to get his "Brown" sound
for pedals he's known for the Phase 90, flanger in Unchained and even chorus in his version of Oh Pretty Woman so i reckon get the Phase 90, a tape delay, use the built in flange and chorus on the Katana and maybe get a wah cos he did use one on poundcake
OLD SCHOOL EVH FROM 1ST 3 ALBUMS
Sound Like Dream Theater (John Petrucci) without busting the bank.
Probably a victory amp and a Chapman guitar would do good because they get a good prog metal sound.
@@jaypickard Thanks for the input, but the question was not for me but for others, I already have boogie mark V and a jp15 as well :)
@@jaypickard Mesa Boogie. His sig amp or a Mark V if you can't get the sig.
Petrucci is probably the easiest guitarist in the biz to replicate by busting the bank. He has a signature everything.
@@therflcommish That's why I said "without"....its much tougher
Enjoyed this one a lot! What surprised me was how good the Jazz bass sounded on the "not busting the bank" demos when compared to this bank-busting video with the Precision.
I think Lee may need to order more Jr Tributes and Astoria amps. What a glourious sound !!!
Sound like AFI 👍
man, this takes me back to my first band... covering Green Day ONLY (this was just after Dookie), me on vocals, two classmates on bass and guitar, NO DRUMS.
Wow that must have sucked. You suck.
God damn that sounded good
So curious with the noise those pedals product whwn engaged...that clean distorted sound is almost to good to be true...are you guys using a noise gate/suppressor or cutting the noise post?
Great video, wanna hear my opinions? ok!
Boulevard Of Broken Dreams: close but not perfect, the guitar is a bit loud and it should've had a backup acoustic so 3.25/5
American Idiot: The intro should've been a tiny bit more tinny sounding and had less mids so here's a 4/5
Basket Case: though Billie used his Fernandes Blue with the Seymour Duncan SH4 this was on point so 5/5
shame you didn't have the Gibson Billie Joe Armstrong Les Paul or Fender Mike Dirnt P bass cos those would've been bang on
Sound like Alter Bridge by Busting. Sound like Killswitch Engage without Busting.
On my birthday too!! My favorite band!!
Happy birthday.
You guys Rawk!
Hey guys! Great job as always!
Please do
Prince
Megadeth
Tourniquet
Slipknot by busting
Van Halen
Robin Trower
Nita Strauss
Sound like Buckethead without busting the bank
matt heafy epiphone lp sig?
Step 1: white les paul
Step 2: cry because you can’t play anything by buckethead
Brent hinds epiphone V (because of killswitch) into egnator or evh
Really just a les paul studio and EVH 5150 III with a DD3 and a digitech whammy pedal will get you close.
@@Trojanarchist the intro to 'Soothsayer'...then literally nothing else can be played by Buckethead.
This Dusenberg is awesome
are you guys using reverb? if so from where? sounds immense, thanks for the videos.
Avenged Sevenfold without busting the bank
YES PLS
Like this so the matt and rabea can see this
because so many detractors threw shade on the BY busting Royal Blood video when it was clearly better than the original
can you revisit it to keep them quiet?
I’ve always liked the look & sound of the Duesenberg Bonnie, confirmed by this great vid and a much earlier Anderton’s demo vid. I’m sure it used to be a hell of a lot cheaper a couple or so years ago... under a grand, I’m almost certain. Anyway, as I’ve said, great video lads, thanks.
peeking that Black Futures t-shirt! Good shit!
Been waiting so long for this vid, now you guys just need to do Nirvana: by busting the bank!! 😀😀
Matt Gordon but nirvana didn’t even bust the bank lol
DeffTone93 You know your right 🤣
12:18 Not all Green Day songs are in Eb (Every Album since 1997/Nimrod is in Standard Tuning)
Nah, 21st Century Breakdown is in Eb as well.
@@atomicmillenial9728 not whole album. 2 songs are in Eb (21stCB, Before the Lobotomy), 1 song is in D Standard (Restless Heart Syndrome), others are in E standard.
Yes!!! Finally!!!
Side note, are you all worried about UA-cam's new rules and algorithms with posting copyrighted material? I love these videos and I don't want them to stop!
Do Alter Bridge with no budget and include Myles Kennedy! His tone is incredible!
NEIL YOUNG - specifically the tone from Like a Hurricane.
Great idea!
Got pretty close. Nice one!
Sound like The Stray Cats!
Gretsch G5420
Fender Blues Jr
Boss DM2
done
Please do a slayer “seasons in the abyss” soundalike
What was the guitar that Rabea played at the very beginning?
I've been seeing a lot of musicians on UA-cam talk about how rampant the copyright strikes are against their videos that have any non-original music... has that been an issue for this series? I love this stuff, so thanks for making it (especially if you aren't making anything from it)!
I think this channel gets away with it because they might either mess up on the song or only play 30 seconds of it. 30 seconds of it would be protected under free use.
Sound Like Tom Petty or Sound like Chris Stapleton!
Not bad, sounds pretty close. But BJA used a Les Paul Standard on the American Idiot record for lead stuff. He uses a LPJ live, but the gain isn't as heavy.
Notificational Alert yep. He did use Floyd for recording every album starting with AI, plus 335s (most people would never guess a 335 is a GD guitar though)
I think the duesenberg sounded spot on for basket case and the gibson was really good on blvd. overall i think it sounded really good.
Ok, that Duesenberg is an absolute rock machine! You didn't say anything during the video but I like to think it's AC⚡️DC inspired. Great video btw, excellent sounds!!!
BD-2 is correct, but way less gain
Billie doesn’t use a whole lot of gain, a lot of his tone is from the way he plays. There’s also too much bass and not enough treble in my opinion
I love soundlike
That Duesi growls like hell, gosh… 🙌
