    One word for this video "REALITY"
    Brilliant real life no hiding it, no trying to make the electric car look good. Just the truth. And I'm all for having an electric car. Have driven loads of them and watched loads about them but this really opens your eyes up. Yeah your not going to be doing big milage every day of the week but when you are you may add in extra travel time and don't rock up to the charger with a nearly flat battery. Taught it would have been a little bit cheaper for your charging. Fair play Stavros you done it none the less.

    The future of driving .
    Sitting in a cold car ( no heating ) travelling at 56mph behind a HGV tailift ( windbreak ) to stop at a services where you can't charge because it's broken so you sweat until one is found then sit again for 45 minutes to travel 100 miles.
    That's progress!

    Not a great advert for the efficiency of the EV charging network. If the system is as frustrating to use over here in the UK, then we still have a way to go until it's a viable replacement for the internal combustion engine. Makes for an entertaining video though.

      It will never be a replacement. It will coexist a little bit, like gas vehicles do.

    In a modern diesel, assuming 55mpg and diesel at €1.35 per litre, 1000miles would cost about €111 in fuel. If you started with a full tank you would probably need 1 stop for fuel. It could probably be done in about 15hours.

    The Green Party and Eamonn Ryan need to watch this before they tax people out of their ICE vehicle and force them into EVs. The charging network is not fit for purpose for the current number of EVs never mind when this number grows.

    This doesn't surprise me, I've seen a few of these electric car videos and it's always the chargers and general infrastructure that seems to fail them. It's such a shame. I think they could be suitable for town use and charging at home (but if you have a garage or driveway) but I think realistically you'd need another car for long distance work. Sort of them defeats the entire point of going electric then. I have thought about getting something like a Renault Zoe to go to and from work (roughly 30miles each way) but then if I have to go anywhere else for any reason, I then won't be able to do it all on one charge, vs my old VW Golf that I have at the moment which will do 600 miles on a tank of diesel. I also thought electricity was cheaper, but as you've demonstrated it isn't by much. Such a shame. Great enlightening video Stavros.

    • @rosen9425
      @rosen9425 2 роки тому +1

      There is one upside. A second vehicle fully electric, instead of two combustion cars, will save a lot of fossil fuel when used where they do the most good - in cities. But paying for the infrastructure in houses not built with such a current draw in mind is not inexpensive. EVs will rely on taxpayers footing the bill in subsidies for a long time yet, clearly home fast charging is the only way to go.

    With all those charging problems and all the tax coming on electricity I’ll stick to my fossil diesel car. The beauty with diesel cars. They have no “charging problems”, just stick the nossel inside the tank and you’re good to go. And if you fill HVO100 in a diesel car it will pretty much be as environmentally friendly as a electric car

    It's not hard to see why this thing wasn't sold in the US, it would be close to useless for most people here. I think it was meant to be a city car though but I would never by something that was only good in a city.
    I don't get why these charging stations have so many issues getting started though, a lot of US ones are like that too. I'm assuming it's some software issue but you would think this problem would be solved by now.

    Until they significantly improve the capacity and reliability of the charging network EVs really aren't viable.

  • @benjamilindqvist912
    @benjamilindqvist912 2 роки тому +1

    Those leads are sometimes very heavy, so they don't lock properly in the charge port. That klicking sound was your honda trying to put the pin through the locking hole on the charging lead, but since it was in an angle, it could not do it. I usually push it down very hard and wait until in starts charging. When it locks, then it will of course stay in place.
    Either it is the angle, or then the hole is designed to be slightly too far up on the connector. They sould just replace the connectors on the cargers to be a bit less heavy, and with a bit easier locking hole.

    I love the tech but that seems a real pain in the arse with all the chargers not working. I know it’s coming and that’s great but until there is a 1 for 1 swap in terms of usability, reliability, and range I’d rather keep burning fuel for now. How much good am I really doing here in Australia when our power comes from coal anyway. Didn’t Co2 levels rise last year? Even with everyone not driving. I love EVs but they’re light years away from being a direct swap for conventional cars. Instead of putting all that fancy tech into them maybe they should work on range. If you could give me an EV that did 500kms around town and 800kms on the highway id buy it regardless of how it looked or the tech that it had or didn’t have. Man! That was hard work but yes, if only them bloody chargers did their job properly the whole experience would be so much better and a whole lot quicker !

    Same problems in America if you follow out of spec motoring. Chargers ruin the experience

    £120 odd for 1000 miles is poor in my opinion. I could probably do that in my 2.4 Volvo and it wouldn't have taken 29 hours 😂 but I appreciate the limitations of electric cars and obviously the Honda e is aimed at city driving and short journeys. It would have been different in a Tesla perhaps or even an MG?

    1000 miles / 29.5 is only 33.89 miles per hour basically.

    That wasn’t cheap motoring Stavros. I have a Nissan NV400 with a total weight of about 3400kgs and for €125 I got about 1000 kms!!

    Well, having been involved in motoring since working in a Maxol garage in 70s, becoming a retailer myself with Shell and Maxol and then in 2000 changing career to driving instructor, I haven't been a big fan of electric cars
    Watching the problems here, the dodgy connections, broken chargers and faffing about and time taken to charge.
    I will stick to combustion or maybe hybrid until the last petrol stations close down or I peg out!
    This has totally put me off the (environmentally disastrous) electric vehicles unless they can at least compete with combustion.

    Why not 1000 km ? We don't use miles in Ireland.

    Car manufacturers make EV vehicles sound like a great experience, by saying, when you charge up, just take the kids and get a bite to eat and a coffee....in this case, it would have cost about 500 quid in food, and Stavros gaining about 4 stone in weight on this journey ..just saying

    If anything this is a great video to show how bad the EV charging network in Ireland is.
    Not only do we lack chargers but most of them are usually broken.

    You can't have the heater on as it wastes power....truly dreadful. I'll stick as long as I can with the flammable stuff and me V8 😉
