Scypheroth If this model is popular enough in the markets outside of the U.S., Honda might have good reason to make the necessary mods to the vehicle to fit U.S. regulations.
It just needs him to state what terms he has the car on for the review, also what the agreement is and how much editorial control the company loaning the Press Car has over the final video. The problem with many Press Car Loan Reviews is that they are all the same. The script sent with the car stays the same, only the channel name, face, voice and background changes. Try watching a few. I know from people that do reviews, they will say anything they are told in order to get a free car for a few weeks or months. They do the same with other products they get for free and with sponnsorship deals. Great if you can get that sort of thing, but the reviews are not always the type me or you would film if we were asked to.

Yes, it looks like a civic from the 70's. Doesn't make me nostalgic at all, the civic was a stripped down nothing car back then. This is a lame little car that only gets the british eco-dandies excited. Would you still like it if it wasn't electric?
I still got my 1994 Honda Civic Shuttle and it's always been well maintained but its basically had nothing ever go wrong with it-that and the excellent gas miliage are the main reasons I've still got it. Honda have a real talent for making extremely reliable cars. And with the Honda e and my old Honda Shuttle very cute ones too. The styling on that new Honda is so adorable.
Like many cars coming from Japan, why didnt we (u.s.) get this one? I feel as though a car like this would appeal to people living in NYC, Los Angeles, and other large cramped cities.
The interior design is sheer perfection. There's no need for the wild transformer angles that we get in so many modern interiors. This car is simple in its design and without pretense and it really resonates. It just looks relaxed and like it's a nice place to be in.
That sucks. Honda you need to stop excluding us here in the U.S.A. This car will do extremely well in the U.S. market. Here we go again with the Europeans getting the good stuff. They do the same thing with there Motorcycles. I guess they cannot handle the U.S. E-car competition from us. No problem. Our cars have more range anyway.
Gary Mendez i would be happy if people stop buying trucks and NEVER USE the bed. And SUVs that they only have two kids is dumb. They just miss market here in the states imo
I am happy to see people appreciate small cars that are excellent. I am not a fan of huge cars and the new trend of extremely sporty cars. They have their purpose but I love a great car that I can use of everyday use. More cars like these please!
Awe dammit, that really aggravates me, America never gets the cool little things like this.. I was wondering what people would think of it, and imagine the aftermarket lol
For start, US doesn’t allow camera side mirrors. Bigger bumpers would be needed which would ruin the cute compact design. Possibly other changes would be needed as well. Even though this version won’t come to the US, I am happy knowing it exists elsewhere and hope it sells well. Car design was getting too homogeneous and predictable.
I've been watching car videos for ages and this really stands out. Your production quality is next level. It feels like I'm watching a good short documentary! Oh and the car is beautiful!
Also own a 4WS 3rd gen, couldn’t be happier with Honda’s EV Route. Yes, Honda may be bashed for being a little boring the past decade, but when they need to prove a point there’s no other manufacturer like Honda.
Man, this channel is so much better than other fancy ones. You do exactly what I look for, simple description, pros and cons, compare it on screen to others and thats it. Keep that! Just make it more standardized in terms of comparisons so that its easier to read!
I wish they sold this in the U.S., seriously, I would strongly consider this for my next car if they did. They would need to increase the range to a least 200 (preferably 300) miles for it to be practical here though.
Maybe they could make a 5 door variant with similar styling, something like the US version of the Civic. (EU/JP version was a hatcback, US version was a sedan) That way they could fit a larger battery in it to produce a larger range EV. I really love the interior, really love the exterior, but the range is a big let down! Makes sense for a city car though I suppose. :)
I seriously considered the Honda E over my Chevy Bolt if it was sold in the US. But with the Bolt at a similar price and a 259 max range I think Honda would have had a hard time competing against it.
@UnderBridge Rock It depends a lot on your life style really. :) I regularly drive around purely for the sake of driving, I enjoy driving. Driving fast on twisty mountain roads is great fun. On top of that, the area I live in is outside of a city so it's mainly 60mph roads, a lot of stopping and going back to 60mph over and over on most journeys. The issue is that with the Model 3 Performance I have, in the winter, my real world range is around 150 miles due to the roads I drive on and HVAC usage. With someone like a Honda E that only boasts 150 miles rated range, you could be looking at 75 miles of real range in similar circumstances. In rural areas where a restaurant I go to is 25 miles away, that kind of usable range doesn't inspire confidence. (I live in the UK by the way! No Texan here. A lot of our roads outside cities are 60mph, very twisty, and up and down hills. Horrible for efficiency, especially combined with HVAC being used for heating 80% of the year due to the colder weather) BUT... I know the Honda E is just a city car, the range makes perfect sense. I'm just giving an example of a real use case for a higher range vehicle that's more than "Because I want more range". :)
@UnderBridge Rock agree, and also if ur daily lifestyle is as efficient and organized like a real human and not a pig that want everything "uhuks...uhuks....several american people", this is a masterpiece car. a reliable and fun car
The Honda E is literally the only electric car I have been excited about. The design is spot on in looking both iconic and modern. If they were to bring it to Australia, it would definitely be the the first EV I buy. This is coming from a person who loves large family sedans with big V6 and V8 engines, and swears by them. Honda has done right by their Honda E to be able to make me sway.
It's the perfect description of the CR-Z too. I loved mine but having only a two seats was a "flaw" I couldn't accept once kids came. But man that was a fun little car to zip around town in!
@M Bacon You can buy CNG and LPG vehicles in North America, usually as part of fleets, or for special purposes. Conversions are relatively common in certain places.

@@qud3913 i want it too and i don't care about the range. for long travel i'd just use my e60 530xi. the honda e just sparks my interest and i somehow REALLY just WANT it.
I would like to see a comparison between conservation of momentum driving and regenerative one pedal driving in regards to range. I believe that by reading the road ahead and coasting instead of coming to a dead stop you could travel a greater distance than using regenerative braking.
yeah and it's such an american question cause nowhere is Gas used other than the US, most other countries use Petrol or whatever the language equivalent is.
@@scotttovey The Honda "e" responded with the query suggestion of "how much gas do I have left?" Which is why it was ironic. I am wondering where the intelligence has gone since my '97 civic ex coupe with a lively engine that got excellent gas mileage and would last forever, a decent interior and exterior design, cabin locked trunk, and door locks that prevented locking your keys in the car.. to this nonsense! It's quite nearly the heaviest in the group, slow, most expensive, yet with the smallest "boot" & least range!? Unforgivable! If it was twice as fast & considered the hot hatch of electrics that would make sense but it is not even close!
@@SS-du7tr "I am wondering where the intelligence has gone" That's an easy question to answer. It was lost due to arrogance, pride and a haughty spirit. Proverbs 16:18: Pride goeth before destruction, and an haughty spirit before a fall. How does this apply to your question? It's quite simple. The younger generations disregard everything that their elders have accomplished and declare it to be wrong. That is the pride, arrogance and haughty spirit that Solomon spoke of. There has always been a generation gap. The younger generation has always believed that they can do better than their forbears however, not until the last 20 years has the younger generation disregarded all the lessons learned from their parents and the older generation. This is the primary reason that so many of the college age youth are demanding socialism. They have been defrauded of the proper education that their parent's taxes paid for, and what they paid for as a result of the communist, leftist infiltration of the American educational system. Somewhere along the way, an idiot decided that it was a good idea to have the fox teach the chickens how to roost and the fox, not being as smart as he thinks he is, eating all the hens. Republicans and conservatives, in the name of fairness, decided it was a good idea to have the alternative message to traditional American values taught in public education and colleges. Now, the alternative is the only thing being taught.
@@fortheloveofnoise I heard this saying among many Christians that have heard a bit of my testimony. The saying is: "experience does not make truth." This is quite hypocritical of them as they actually believe that because they have not experienced something, it cannot be true. The hypocrisy should be clear to anyone as a lack of experience is still: experience. Thus, they, with their argument against my experience, argue against their lack of experience. Why am I telling you this? Because you base your truth on your lack of experience. You have never heard the voice of God. You have never felt the presence of God. You have not had your life and your health defended by the hand of God. What you people that do not experience these things cannot seem to comprehend is that your lack of experience is experience, and just as experience does not make truth, neither does the lack of experience make truth. You can never convince a man like myself who has: 1) Heard the voice of God. 2) Felt the presence of God. 3) Stood before the resurrected Christ and looked through the nail hole in His hand and seen Him eye to eye. 4) Been protected by the hand of God striking a charging dog in the side, to send him fleeing back, the way he came. You speak of a fictitious God that does not exist. I speak of the one true living God in heaven, that both exists, and rules in the kingdoms of man. Psalms 37:12: The wicked plotteth against the just, and gnasheth upon him with his teeth. 13: The LORD shall laugh at him: for he seeth that his day is coming. 14: The wicked have drawn out the sword, and have bent their bow, to cast down the poor and needy, and to slay such as be of upright conversation. 15: Their sword shall enter into their own heart, and their bows shall be broken. 16: A little that a righteous man hath is better than the riches of many wicked. 17: For the arms of the wicked shall be broken: but the LORD upholdeth the righteous. 18: The LORD knoweth the days of the upright: and their inheritance shall be for ever. 19: They shall not be ashamed in the evil time: and in the days of famine they shall be satisfied. 20: But the wicked shall perish, and the enemies of the LORD shall be as the fat of lambs: they shall consume; into smoke shall they consume away.
Definitely aimed at women. They're falling in love with it, and calling it 'cute' or 'sweet'. Many men are more 'Meh; it's short-ranged and over-priced'.
@@RWBHere Actually I like the design as a man (who owns a Jag F-Type, a 60' Corvette and a 68' Mercury Cougar XR-7). It's not like the women aimed cars (Fiat 500, Mini Cooper, VW New Beatle), it has a timeless and nice design. Probably will be my first electric car, if I'll like it in a test drive.
it's ok, I like it! Reasonable and useful technology in a car. Idk about price. It is small--specially for the us market. The reviewer metioned tuneability so I pictured with wider fenders, 3 door, that hot hatch rally look--with it's independent suspension and tight turning radius it could have that potential.
@@RWBHere As a man I actually love the design, both outside and inside. The outside has character, looks unique and fun while the inside looks modern, stylish and functional. I honestly hate the inside of most cars because most cars (even newer cars) end up having an interior that looks like it was taken from a car from the year 2000's and it looks dated, tacky and cheap, it really needed a new fresh look. The reason is probably because its cheaper to just go with the same style of design every time but I think we can all agree that this looks so much better. That being said though you are right that I'm also of the idea that the range is too small for the price specially considering the fact that real world range drops in colder conditions as well as battery degradation that will happen over time. I feel like 185miles or roughly 300km should be a target for these kinds of cars. It's a good midpoint. So if they ever get the range up and keep the price the same I think it would be 100% worth it and if people are looking for a car with character then it's probably also going to be worth it to people even with less range provided it works for them.
*_I like the side mirror cameras and love the multi screen layout. The fish tank is just wow! I have read this car will not be sold in the USA. Too bad. It would make a perfect city car with home charging. I think Honda is missing a market for city driving. You could keep this EV lightly driven with a full tank every morning with a 120 volt wall socket and overnight charging. If I lived in Europe this would be my next car._*
During testing they could not find one American that can fit through its door, they had the American sit on the roof and his @$$ ate it... so yes, maybe a bigger version will be made for US markets..
From what I've read, this car was originally made to include the US market, but then the higher ups at Honda's USA headquarters talked the Japanese execs out of bringing it here because they were scared that it would've been a flop.
@@quasimondo1933 In good chunks of the rural south eastern US it would be a flop where a lot of families have a truck as their main transportation, or as a 2nd, and don't want to have to worry about range if they want to take a long trip without stopping. Heck I have family in Athens GA, who sometimes drive to Atlanta GA, or Augusta GA, and just to Augusta GA from Athens is over 100 Miles, or almost 2 hours with no traffic, so this car would be dead, or nearly dead by the time it got there, and they do that just to go shopping for places they don't have in Athens. Some people forget how far it really is to go places here in the southeast at times. the 3 nearest Walmart's to me are 30 mins each, and so that's 20+ miles there, then another 20+ miles going around town for a whole day doing the weekly/bi-weekly shopping plus the trip home, that's 60 - 80 miles, and at that point a lot of people would getting range anxiety, and I can't blame them.

The Louis Theroux of car reviewers.

I wish they sold this in the U.S., seriously, I would strongly consider this for my next car if they did. They would need to increase the range to a least 200 (preferably 300) miles for it to be practical here though.
Maybe they could make a 5 door variant with similar styling, something like the US version of the Civic. (EU/JP version was a hatcback, US version was a sedan)
That way they could fit a larger battery in it to produce a larger range EV.
I regularly drive around purely for the sake of driving, I enjoy driving.
Horrible for efficiency, especially combined with HVAC being used for heating 80% of the year due to the colder weather)
BUT...

"I am wondering where the intelligence has gone"
That's an easy question to answer.

I heard this saying among many Christians that have heard a bit of my testimony.
You can never convince a man like myself who has:
1) Heard the voice of God.

The Honda REEEEEE
it's ok, I like it!

Damn, watched this video and thought this was some long running show i'd never heard of. Amazing production quality and nice in-depth review. Good work, and please, keep going on!
Well, it's pretty much a Fully Charged episode. No idea why it wasn't on that channel.

Oh my god thats epic!!!
Being in the USA I only first saw this on a TV series, being a petrol head I wasn't on the lookout for new EV releases. But what a great looking little car and great review, thanks Jonny
This was almost a cinematic movie of a review. Great job on the music and shots in this review. Makes me want to buy this now...
