- The Facebook founder, Mark Zuckerberg, faced five hours of questioning on Capitol Hill for the first time on Tuesday. However, questions and comments from some of the senators ranged from less technically informed to the bizarre, raising the question: did they really understand how the internet works?

He's trying so hard not to laugh.
IndustrialBonecraft ahahaha bunch of idiots asking this guy about things they don't really understand
Robots can laugh?
I think he's too confused about what they mean to laugh about it
I laughed my head off
@@nessmastergengar4686 he is not a robot he is a human like us.
"Senator, we run ads"
*TRIES DESPERATELY NOT TO LAUGH*
Senator,we run ads
this is what happens when 70 year olds, born in the 40s, try to understand Facebooks business model.
And they sell data.
This is not the entire video and I like how they only show certain portions to slant the information To make it sound like it's just a bunch of old people who've never been on the Internet. Though trying to get him to admit that he not only sells information, he also tracks your off fb book activity. I would encourage you to watch the entire video . Liberal news media at work. Definitely can trust that🙄 Guess what the truth is coming out and you cannot put the lid back on the Box. You can try and there's obviously going to be a few potatos that fall for it. But most of us are completely wide awake as to what's been happening for the last 3 years. And I cannot wait to see Nuremberg 2.0
@@freddiemercurygaming4124we run ads.
The woman asking about Data categories had no idea what she was talking about. I'm not saying I do, but you can tell she read something somewhere and wanted to look clever.
I could imagine a article written by someone doing the same thing, trying to look smart.
"data points" she actually said "data points" xD
@@undo9981 she said data categories then switched to data points.
I think she meant the categories or interests based on what you like. You can even find a list on your google account it lists stuff like:
Comics, apparel, male, 20-35, television, comedy, youtube, internet reviewers, news, etc etc.
She is refering to data fields. MZ just ditched that question even he knew deep down if he corrected her it would be a long discussion.
You can’t email in whatsapp
Oh.
ive been doing it all wrong then
But I was sooo sure you could...
But you have the ability.
Onhhhhhhhh that's why....
I cant believe this is real
Nizar Khan same here
haha! the politicians running the US government, has no clue what is going on outside in the society, evenmore so been outside as well. lmao!
Have term limits in us congress to keep getting new and fresh leadership every 6 yrs, no to career politicians!
This is so embarassing. This is seriously America's best?
America's best is often on the other side of the table.
Jude wilkinson
No, it’s America’s worst chopped up into a wonderful video, I suggested you watch the entire session if you want to watch Zucc squirm and give nonanswers.
Some of the comments were stupid such as “we run ads” but a lot of the senators comments are taken out of context
What their doing is making him confirm details. Like
For example
how is facebook kept free?
We run Ads. Lolz
Simple question with an obvious answer right?
Later on he'll get with
Senator: How did face book turn into a $500 billion company by running tucked away ads that no one clicks?
because advertisers don't pay for clicks. they pay for placement. welcome to 21st century. (yes, there are still clickers but they're dinosaurs.) so, yeah, the senators are stupid, ignorant or too lazy to do research; take your pick.
What does he mean by "emailing in WhatsApp"?

- Mr. Zuckmerg, if l talk about how much l like pizza with my friends, do l get pizza ads in my dreams ?
= Senator, ur dreams r fully encrypted and we can't influence them!
- Yeah l know, but could fb use Leonardo DiCaprio's inception theory to do that ?
= Sentaor, that was just a movie. lt's not real.
- lt sure seems real to me, Mr. Zuckernerd!
Sentaor
"What if I don't want to receive chocolate advertisements?" Why do you think I stopped watching TV a long time ago?
You know there's something wrong when the people questioning him have lived without the internet for the first 5 decades of their lives.
Yup
Lol that data catagorie thing reminded me of some kid asking how to download ram
old people need to learn how to use the internet properly or never use it.
Ok boomer
@@Liminally_ill how? what? That doesn't make sense, he was talking about old people? what?
LOL that last women doesnt even have a clue what shes talking about. It's like someone has just said "read off this piece of paper"
Those questions are becoming too much, did mark ever forced any one to use facebook?
fabulous fred In a way, Facebook has. The hearing mentioned the collection of data from non-users for the creation of shadow profiles. There is no way for non-users to opt out of this collection, but registered Facebook users do have that option. Therefore, a non-user has to become a user to control most of what is shared, especially involuntary.
Cheeseskates im non user (well, ex. I deleted it long time ago). And i agree with you. Its hard for me, even to play simple game in phone. Its like everything have to be connected with facebook.
But, i also see it as a successfull platform.
I feel in the future, facebook gonna be worldwide database used in apocalypse for human identifying. Lol.
Those movies comes to life! 😂
we dont talk about what A.R.M.Y stands for then create a blank Facebook account you don't need to put anything on it just use it to login
Just because you are not forced they can do everything with their customers? lol
He could have just ask that question right in the hot seat and make the whole team looked dumb... but apparently that's not how the law works.
The guy at 0:45 doesn’t even understand what he himself is asking lmao
0:35 Emailing through Whatsapp 😂😂😂
The senators should have gotten some highly trained I.T. personal to consult with before this hearing or questioning session. Got to do your homework in order to ask relevant questions.
well seeing that the majority of these guys are over 55 😂
I am fine with them being over 55. The problem is, according to their fiercest critics there are a lot of them who are over 55 but have the mentality of a person who is 5 years and five months old...
So you mean the age of the people that invented the internet?
Everyone behind him laughing. Just shows how dumb these questions are.
They're looking at and wondering why a billioaire still puts a bowl on his head and cuts his own hair.
When u get points for participation
1:38 the lady in the back is enjoying this a bunch
*My dad when he's on the phone with tech support*
"Hwat if I don't want to relieve those commercial advertisements?"
Zucc: *desperately holding it in*
the fact that he asked about E-MALING in whatsapp lol oh my god i got a second hand migraine from listening to these dinosaurs
Email in whatsapp really?
These people need to understand current technology to represent us properly!
Technology and progress back in our day meant making it better. Not just different and worse.
There should be a mandatory technology/internet literacy course for anyone who wants to regulate the internet or technology.
Yes, it really looked that stupid...I am a Native of the US. Thanks for this. We are to afraid to ask this in our own main stream media. The music made the whole thing so thank that person lmbo
04.13.16 Regina Dugan-the former head of Darpa who was running the Advanced Technologies and Projects lab at Google-has left the internet giant to take up a similar post at rival Facebook. Darpa had a project in 2004 that was the same as Facebook, it was called Lifelog

bro mark zuckerberg looks like he’s nervous with the question asking 🤣
Title should be renamed "Bunch of old geezers who don't know Facebook vs Zuckerberg"
Senator: do you see what I do in what's app?
Mark: no
Repeat 3xs
Senator: do you see what I do on what's app
Mark: sure, why not
they need to understand how PROGRAMMING works before they ask questions
Basically me, when my mother ask me to fix facebook on her tablet.
I think there will be a Rick and Morty ep about this!
*Try not to laugh challenge*
Damn...!

data points, whats that?
The data category woman didn't understand her own question 🤣
God it’s like listening to my nan figuring out how an iPhone works
Circus
I think they need a Software Engineer in the panel :P
Mr. Zuckerberg, when I put my computer to sleep, does it dream?
This video seems to have been taken out of context. To get a better grasp I recommend watching the first two hours of the first day and you can see what each senator asked including the chairman. Some questions included underlying meanings while some were there to test his patience and then some others were quite favourable toward Mr. Mark so they used the 5 mins to ask neutral type questions. But I suppose the purpose of this 2 min video is just some harmless fun so no worries on my end :)
LMAO this just made my day
Hahah omg the power of editing, eh?
our generation and the ones after us, has the ability to gain knowledge a lot more than the ones that had come before us, thanks to Information Technology and the Internet.
It's there API out
LOOK
THE INNERNETS IS NOT A BIG TRUCK
YOU CANT JUST TAKE STUFF OFF AND PUT STUFF ON
ITS A SERIES OF TUBES.
The second question is perfectly valid. I looked up my facebook data and it had stored all my voicemails from my phone, not from Facebook, but my actual phone. So the question 'Can facebook see information stored on other apps on your phone?' is a perfectly valid one, it's just a shame he didn't ask it like that and instead talked about Whatsapp which gave Zuckerberg room to wiggle out of the question.
facebook can see data on your phone, your location (even if you don't want them to show it), your both cameras on phone, everything what microphone can catch and more.
you have it all in terms of service anyway.
There is no way Facebook could access your voicemail... Like none.
The fact he kept repeating the question when he already got the answer, confirmed he had no idea what ''encryption'' does.
@@jimmorrison5651 They absolutely can And do track your off fb book activity. Go check your settings. They also track your location. Go check your settings.
Haha the girl wearing green is about to laugh at the boomers

U are a senator trying to protect private data
But u are perfectly fine notifying that ur son is dedicated to Instagram
Not much of important data , but still private info ...
After that ads be like:
"Use Instagram, Senator's child does it"
E-MAILING in Whatsapp? So much cringe with this congress .
Its clear to say that all of those senators dont know how the internet works

If I send a whatsapp about black panther, do I see ads about black panther?
No, Facebook can't see messages on whatsapp cause they are fully encrypted.
That'a not what I asked.

What grammar is that title
Omg hahahah! This is hilarious
So, are they gonna get the NSA to stop listening in on citizens now???
He doesn't want to see chocolate ads on Facebook!!! Heres a suggestion, don't use Facebook. Simple, end of discussion.
Just give this man an award for This
The answer is a clear NO.

Old generation leading the new to slaughter.

Short Answer:
*no not at all*
It's a play act
The 2 people behind zuckerberg can barely hold the laughter in
they are completely ignoring him bruh
Shout out to that 13yr old kid 😂
This zuckerberg hearing earns a movie
“Senator we run ads that are paid for by political parties, so it can influence others” That’s how he should’ve answered
