      @@JustRaikou And theres no interruption mid sentence, how crazy is that?

    • @JustRaikou

      @@raffyreydado It was honestly baffling in a way. I've never seen at least one sentence interrupted, and/or being used as degraded or derogative or a twist of word play being used. Maybe I haven't watched enough of them, but that's a pretty typical pattern they will follow

    • @StephenButlerOne
      @StephenButlerOne 6 років тому +3

      Nick Bali really? Politics must be different in The us from the uk. As our idiots usually come from money, study politics in Oxford or Cambridge then go strict into politics.
      There is few exceptions to this. The majority of them never worked, only in politics on tax payers dime. Then they moan about the poorest folk in the nation and they getting £80 a fortnight in benifits, when they pick up massive salaries with even bigger expense accounts And get a £200 bonus for every day they bother to turn up to Parliament.
      Also they are mostly Brian dead just like all the US politicians I've seen regarding this FB mess. The questions are either stupid, or impossible for him to answer on the spot.
      I can't even stand FB, but this seems a bit of a witch hunt to me. It's not like Thr $100k the Russians paid in ads would of made a dent in the estimated 1.4b spent (total from all parties) on online ads that year.
      If that 100k really did swing it for Trump, all the head political PR bods need to be on the next plane to Russia to learn how to make a good ad.

    Something more scarier is that if you alarm system is internet based it will detect your movement in your house and camera's come on and you start receiving e-mails and ads from people but once you go back to bed ever thing gose back to a sleep mode but it takes a few minutes for it to do it cause all this stuff is linked to gether home security systems ,home phone,smartphones ,tablets,laptop,smart Tv's, all of it and it all gathers data on you and your friends so becafefull...... They are watching you!!!!

    even though he says Facebook does not listen through mobile device mircrophones for advertising, I'm pretty sure they do. Maybe he's not aware of it. Every time I have my phone nearby and talk about possibly buying something or going on vacation somewhere, Facebook never fails to advertise that exact thing. Maybe it's a coincidence, but still super suspicious....

      Maybe, but what's actually happening is location tracking and they have enough data on you that they don't need more to create a psychometric profile of you, with little historical data on you, your buying patterns, your phone sensors like temperature to gauge whether you are close to a vending machine that sell coke or pepsi etc. is all captured, re-iterated and improved by the algorithms.

    here’s the thing. even in the case the mic is not picking it up, the messenger platform will pick up your written conversation. and that goes for whatsapp as well once they’ve linked you as the same person. so what’s stopping them to use the mic ? there is nothing better than using the messaging platform to target ads because that’s deeper than just randomly clicking on the newsfeed items.

    Yeah, google does record your voice too when you said "ok google" or accidentaly pressed the voice search. You can check your voice activity by log in on *myactivity.google.com* , then search in voice category. The funny thing is when you play one of your voice history, you'll hear your own voice before you said "Ok google".. So yes, they listen to you all the time, wkwk.
    And also you can check your own history of everything you did with your smartphone that connected with google then delete or disable that if you want to, have fun..

      here is how to permanently delete facebook: *its hidden*
      While in facebook. Go to the section next to all your security options called "help center" click on it then in help center type in "How do I permanently delete my account?"- click on that exact link..... ok so now you will reach a link that tells you It may take up to 90 days from the beginning of the deletion process to delete all of the things. look for the blue clickable letters *Let Us Know* click on these letters. It will then send you to a submission link where you have to write that you want them to perm delete your account..... keep in mind if you try to log in at anytime before the 90day period it may cancel the request..... I can only imagine all the stuff they are doing going through your data for 90 days just to delete it.....

    I have absolutely seen things like this happen to me. For example, my one friend/coworker plays golf, he brings up golf at work, I get golf ads, Both on Facebook and Google. I don't like golf, I don't search golf nothing. My guess is it may be location based. The services see us both on the same IP, figures it might be realivent to show an ad to me too. I get golf ads afterwards even at home. (I have location off)

    When you download an app, at least on Google Play it tells you before you download, that the app may have access to your phone calls, texts, pictures, location, etc. Its YOUR responsibility to be able to decide how much information youre willing to share. As much as I hate facebook it really seems to me that this hearing is pointless considering a good number of these questions are coming from people who are out of touch with technology. You have to be old or gullible to be dumb enough to let your info be so easily accessible.

    • @D3DREVO
      @D3DREVO 6 років тому

      Actually, it's Google than Amazon than Facebook.
      From my understanding, Google collects a lot more data than the rest, plus there is a lot more than that.
      Browsers also store that data as well which is how some websites can get that data.
      People think it's simply websites getting the data from the user's input but it's more than that.
      There are three different types of cookies that websites can make which stores almost of all your metadata and can get information from your computer or device.
      First off you have Session cookies which only stores on the session.
      The second and biggest that can be abused by any websites or app is called a permanent or persistent which is saved and stored on your computer so even if you clear your browser's data and website data, websites, and programs can still access that cookie and get even more info.
      Last but not least is Third-Party Cookies which almost all websites and programs use to get your data from websites and such.
      So in more of a technology since you don't even need to allow or input data in order for websites to get it. People need to understand this and the simple fact that once you're on the internet there is actually no real, complete privacy.
      The internet is a globalization which people need to understand. The human world is heading towards a global society which people need to understand and prepare for, but as time goes on and the older humans get they tend to hate change and are very stubborn about it.

    • @jare3959
      @jare3959 6 років тому +2

      Definitions are always important. I find it interesting that in policy and legal documents, they always define terms. But in hearings, there's no attempt at establishing a baseline for common understanding. ESPECIALLY jargon. At the surface, I can see why artificial intelligence and machine learning sound like synonyms and might be discussed as such. I think Zuckerberg understood what the congressman meant, and rolled with it. When you're in a hearing, its ill advised to constantly correct the people questioning you.

    • @Band0sGodsword
      @Band0sGodsword 6 років тому +2

      Quarknjaguar Machine learning is a large part of AI. Therefore, if you use deep learning or any other machine learning tool, it's not incorrect to refer to it as AI. It's simply a broader term, which is more relevant to the discussion at hand since the congressman wasn't only talking about deep learning. Also, don't pretend you know what algorithms Facebook does and does not use; that information isn't even available.

    Welcome to an ecosystem where the moment your child is born today, they make sure that it will join FB and be the victim of hyperactivity and impulsive buying behaviour. Algorithms, Machine learning models running in plain sights are designed to hook you up, giving you that shot of dopamine that will leave you on FB for hours, because the content is new every time you log in. If I am wrong, ask yourself how is FB is still in existence at present? Because there business model involves new content feed system which will get you hooked and increase hyperactivity and useless stuff that you don't wanna buy. Think about it, it's your child's future on the line.

      Why? Because they have to gather information about us to sell to advertisers (which these companies are pretty open about if you actually read the TOS) to get the money they're owed for providing an expensive service to us that we refuse to willingly pay for?
      Nothing is free, but everyone feels entitled to free stuff and free services, even though they have every right to charge us a subscription fee for these services, they don't because moochers will complain about "greed" and leave the site, so instead of directly charging us what we owe, they sell our information to recoup the cost of providing said services plus a the profit they're entitled to for their work, that's the deal we all agreed to when we created our accounts and started using these social media websites, that's capitalism, and it's beautiful!
