Most people do not realize that bison is one of the leanest red meat to eat. Thank you so much for explaining and teaching others about these majestic animals. Sweet memories of Grandpa B. Came back watching the dust bath. He told stories of a huge dust cloud on the prairie when a herd found a good spot!
I am proud of you for keeping the buffalo alive and well in the US. I am part indian and this has made me happy to see them as healthy as can be. Thank you for all you do for them.
I truly appreciated the history behind each Bison and the attitude of Belle....she reminded me that these are wild animals and a beautiful as they are, they need to be respected as such. I have driven by a few pastures and seen these animals from afar but never as close as you ve brought us. Thank you very much.!💕

My uncle Willie raised bison when I was young. His bulls name was Bill and his heifer was Jenny. Uncle Willie was the first in Northern Colorado to raise bison in the mid 70's. Both uncle Willie and his herd are gone now, but it is nice to see you started a channel regarding bison. I wish you and your family the best of luck. P.S. Willie had a tire out in the field for Bill to play with. It was a lot of fun to see him toss it around.

My grandfather loved reading about Belle Starr, Judge Parker and all the history around the “Hell on the Border” associated with the area. And, she definitely was a bold woman for her time.

Thanks to Daniel for turning me on to your channel. (Watch his all the time!) And thanks to you,JT, for showing your herd and telling us about them. Beautiful! I’ll be watching!
Enjoyed your video and all the tid bits of facts and background. I can see your enjoyment of them when you talk about them. Nice smile. Look forward to more videos.
Nicely done thank you for taking the time to let us know something about them. I love bison and to me they are beautiful. Their heritage goes so far back. Look forward to more. Best of luck and health always. Glad Daniel talked you into doing this. I think I you'll be surprised how many people will be on here.
You are welcome! I enjoy showing these awesome animals off and sharing my story. They have such an amazing history...I hope I can keep it alive. Thank you Rusty! - Dusty
So fun! I love how you took these bison as your herd instead of cattle. Also interesting learning more about them. The Hmong in our area have water buffalo, look sort of similar.
Wow!!! Nice bunche of buffalo. I didn't think I would be in the pasture with them... After seeing how Bella star is....I KNOW I wouldn't!! Thanks for the introduction and I hope to see more videos.

Thank you for the awesome videos keep them coming. And I would also like to thank you for keeping the bison still here so we as a nation can still enjoy the bison
In my home town of Flagstaff, AZ there's an old historic park that was once part of the Beale Wagon road out west. ... Up untill the late 1960's there were Bison that roamed inside the park, and there were old stage coaches and hay wagon rides you could take around the park trail to see all the critters. I was only four or so but I remember it. There's a buffalo statue in front and over the years some goof balls will paint "Buffy" pink! Now people go running, hiking and cross country skiing on the trails.... Beautiful place! Good luck on your ranch! When you have a baby buff, and it's a girl you can give her the indian name "Opai" , which is little girl, or daughter or sister.... Had a friend with seeing eye dog with that name.
@@CrossTimbersBison Hi Dusty... just got your reply. thank you! Yes Flag is sooo beautiful, I'm so homesick for it, but I'm in ABQ.NM now and disabled so I can never see home again except in photos and vids on You Tube..... Maybe you can build or restore a stagecoach or two and when your herd has grown, if you have them running all over, you could charge a little for rides to go on a tour of your ranch and see buffs up closer..... That's a few years away..... You can start selling on line Buffalo Jerky to make a little extra money. Your bro-in-law introduced you on his channel, and I' really enjoy their channel, especially Houston and Emma Lee... and the fishing in the creek! So I'm a new subbie because of them. I believe in supporting friends and family. I hope you get a ton of subbies that come from seeing your place on Daniel's channel. You guys will have to do stuff together... You have a great smile and you do look like Justin Timberlake I used to live in Oklahoma and went on a field trip with my son to woolero I'm not sure about the name but they had a big herd of bison it's really cool to see them out in a pasture when you cant see any man made stuff and you can imagine how it used to be. Good job on the video.
Love your channel and that your bud Daniel Arms from Arms Family suggested to check you out. I would love to hear more history on these majestic animals of our nations history that ran the prairies. Thats my fav movie im from the uk and love native american history so glad i have found your channel thank you for introducing your herd of amazing bison
I just found your channel!! This is the second video I’ve watched. My husband and I want to move to Idaho and start a herd there. I’m trying to get as much information as I can so we can educate ourselves and there are some farms/ranches that will let you come to them and they teach you all about Bison. We can’t wait to do that. We want to get as much information from the NBA so we can read and soak up as much information before we do the hands on. Our older children want to learn with us, as they will be part of the ranch. Thank you for your channel! I know I’m going to learn a lot and I’m excited for you to take us along with you on your journey!
Belle Starr is my favorite name!! You picked very good names for everyone though! Ah! She’s the feistiest AND and outlaw?? THAT’S why I was drawn to her! They ARE majestic!
Thank you for showing us your herd.Beautiful animals.I also love dances with wolves a favorite ofmine.Congratulations on your new channel.Best wishes....Daniel sent me.
Enjoyed the video Dusty and meeting the herd. I always wondered if one of those rotary brooms the paving contractors use would make a good cattle brush /scratcher. They throw away the old wore out ones. There are hollow in the middle so a good solid like set deep in the ground with the broom slid down over it I believe cattle/bison would enjoy it. Y'all take care and God bless.
Great to meet the gang 1 on 1. I look forward to getting to know them better through your videos. Could you do a video on what you look for when choosing your bison. What characteristics make them more desirable.
Just discovered your bison herd today and I'm really enjoying your videos. I'm excited to know that I'll get to watch your herd grow. I've always kinda favored the bovine species out of God's kingdom. Great job young man!!
Got here thru AFH. I think Belle Starr says, "Don't you know I'm a big, bad, bison? I'm not a puny cow!" That fence, I'm sure you know, will not stop a determined bison. We, (Colorado) have several herds around the Denver metro area, and those fences (really stout) can't keep them in if they want to GO for a run. Beautiful animals! What I know is, in Yellowstone NP, They shoot some of the herd when it gets too numerous. Very, very sad. Ecologists introduced wolves into Yellowstone, & the wolves are doing a good job with balancing the ecology, & they should be able to do population control, (usually during winter), but now the park service wants to eliminate them, also, because they sometimes eat domestic beeves. Montana ranchers don't like them either, because of brucillosus- probably not spelling the disease right...they say bison are carriers. Idk about that- I just know they were here 1st, & humans have not treated them well. What if Belle Starr is carrying "ancestral memory", and knows all what happened? Yep, she'd be more than a bit fiesty! Alot of people just don't get how the natural world works. It's all interconnected...Nice to see some, where they used to roam in thousands....

I'm sure you are going to answer these questions in an upcoming video...., but here's mine.... 1.) how long is gestation period for a bison? 2.) do they just eat grass or do you supplement with grain? 3.) how long (years/months) does a bison mature? 4.) goal is sell steaks ? 5.) how big of a herd do you plan to keep?
Tricia, 1. Gestation period for a bison cow is 270-285 days. 2. They eat both. Right now we have LOTS of grass, so that is what they're mostly consuming right now. We also supplement feed to maintain weight and for growth. The supplement feeding varies from season to season. 3. It takes about five years for them to fully mature. 4. Goal is to sell the meat! You are correct. Meat is #1. I also want to grow mine and have a stable conservation herd as well. 5. My ultimate goal is to reach 100 someday. That will depend upon how much land I can purchase and how long it takes for my operation to grow. We will continue to grow our herd until our place becomes overcrowded. I love the questions! I will be talking about some of this in some of my upcoming videos. Thank you, - Dusty

Tricia,
