In this episode, we face an urgent situation as one of our female bison struggles to give birth. Our dominant bison bull, causing issues during the labor process, continuously chases her, preventing her from lying down and delivering her calf safely. Watch as we take quick action to separate the bull from the mother-to-be, ensuring she has the space and calm environment she needs. This isn’t just about removing one animal-it involves moving the entire herd for her safety. Join us as we handle this real-life ranching challenge and ensure a safe delivery for the newest member of the herd.

The mama that lost her calf was there offering support and comfort to the laboring mama. So sweet!
It is sweet
I think that young bull will be problem shame Big Joe didn't really move him off put him in his place ..good work Dusty getting them separated and Brookes intuition is great well done ...
@@LeahJo13 she’s definitely the real mvp
Wow THANK YOU FOR SHARING first breaths and birthing on your ranch.
Brooke's could be a savior of this calf. That incredible stress chased by the bull in end labor and birthing with him not backing off may be the reason all ended well. Good girl Broooke.
I was holding my breath until the calf started moving 🎉
Me too 😅
Me too!
Same! I was so sad at first! I just knew it wasn’t good. Whew!
It took an exceptionally long time to breath. I deliver foals all the time, and we wouldn't let them not take a breath for that long but of course, I'm talking about a domesticated animal. Glad it doesn't have brain damage.
She was also pretty grateful to Dusty for getting her away from the bull that was harassing her. She gave birth so quick after because she felt safe enough and she could relax. That was a great experience to watch.
can feel how painful.
😢Strong little Red dog!
Good work team Cross Timber Bisons
It was really something that the cow that just lost a baby stayed with her during the birth. I think she was there for support because of what she just went through. Love these Bison!
That’s the mom of the cow giving birth 😊
The Bison that just lost her baby, seemed like she was there to protect her, until she had the baby. So happy you were there to capture this and many thanks to your precious Daughter Brook.
You got the young bull Name even without realizing it because of his behaviour 'knucklehead". Thank you Dusty from Australia for your informative videos on ranching Bison
Yes! Please name this guy 'knucklehead'.
I vote for that too
Great vid Dusty. I think you already named the bull," Knucklehead", lol.
Knucklehead is a GREAT name for that bull!
@@aliyah888777 agree
Great video.
Way to go Brooks! ❤
Bless Brooks heart for being so concerned about the momma.
What beautiful footage to be able to watch the birth of the red dog. I was holding my breath for awhile. CONGRATULATIONS!
Dogs might not be effective here but i wonder if bison would respect a good ranch horse? I’ve seen small bison used to roping practice on horseback so maybe not impossible. Looking at the size of Joe tho, i have my concerns 😬
That was beautiful Dusty. Bless Brooks heart for having a loving, caring heart.
Beautiful ❤
And great intuition!
Beautiful Red Dog!
How beautiful!!! Thank you so much for sharing this precious birth!!!
That bull really IS Dennis the MENNACE!
That would be a good name for him Dennis the Menace. I’m sure that Big Joe and the new mama would agree wholeheartedly.
Name suggestions: Doc, after previous owner, Toby after Toby Keith or Willy cause he’s silly. Lol
Excellent name
Dennis is a good name
😂😂
Thank you for taking us along on this miracle.
Thank you Dusty for stopping that bull from driving her crazy. I can't imagine being in labor pain and trying to get away from a stupid horny bull!!
I hear you! Being in labour is hard enough!
Let your daughter name this calf! She's earned it!
Very grateful to little Rancher Brookes for wanting to check in on Mama in labor that’s some outstanding footage Dusty. Thanks for sharing with us it was amazing!🙏🦬🤎
Oh my goodness, this video overwhelmed so many emotions. First I just wished "Bullwinkle" would just leave that momma alone, then I was sad to see the other momma bison come and stay with her but at the same time stood away and then went to the hill by herself. Felt so sorry for her, but loved her devotion. Then cried because I thought the baby was stillborn. Finally a smile and happiness as watched the momma kick into action and help the baby. What a great momma she is.
I think Brooke should have naming rights on the new addition to the herd. Great job Brooke!
Amazing a bison giving birth to her calf. Brought tears to my eyes. Shes a good moma. Already cleaning her baby. ❤❤❤❤❤
When all the other videographers say for educational purposes...they have no idea!!!!! THIS is an educational video❣Great job Dusty on a treat that has been a long time (the Momma's lifetime with you) coming, thanks for taking the time to video this miracle and sharing with your community! You are truly a ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ bison rancher!
Thanks Brookes for alerting your dad
Brutus the Bull! That’s what I would call the knucklehead. Awesome video showing an actual labor.
Thank you for listening to Brooks... she's listening to Life, and sharing with you ❤
Omgosh I just lost it 😭😭😭 knowing 139 lost her calf but look at GOD! This momma has the best support and she’s definitely not alone through her delivery 😢❤ Ty for sharing this! You made my day even better 🙏🏼 sisters 🎉
I did, too !!!
Why some have just a number name and some real names ? The number ones are for the slaughter???
This is where well trained cattle dogs and good cutting horses are worth more than gold
I’ve was wandering about that ?
@@deniseblackburn33 I’ve never seen him use cattle dogs because bison simply are NOT cattle. They don’t behave the same and it would be dangerous for a in labor bison and for the dog
I was feeling stressed out just watching that mama walking around trying to give birth with that male trailing behind her! I am so glad you helped her out!
I was watching the nearby cow, wondering what she was remembering? Praying for her mental health, as she slowly drifted away.
I had to remember to breathe during the resting phase of this new red dog's birth ! Watching the licking instinct begin was something I had never witnessed before. Slowly, then into a natural rhythm once she finished the birthing of her baby. Those hot temps probably assisted the drying of the baby's fur, and we saw a beautiful light red color of fluffy fur!
Award-winning video, Dusty!
Thanks for sharing!
What a miracle. It almost took my breath away! Just amazing. Thank God for Brooks...Dennis the Menace fits him just fine.
How impressive the support the other bison gave her. Just standing close.
Truly a marvelous set of circumstaces came together just in time. Your effort to separate “Clueless” from the object of his desire, managed to include another Cow in the pasture. Then the spot little Mama chose to give birth was in the shade near water. Is it possible that he other Cow had been protectively following after her friend in distress? And then the Miracle! You were able to get close enough to record the birth. There were a few tense moments when the baby was just so still. I feared the worst. then for , Joy! it moved. it was beautiful to see herl licking her baby to life. ❤ Thank you, Dusty for such a wonderful gift on this Sunday to remember.❤. Belle Starr is a Grandmother. You could call the red dog “Twinkle Starr and its Mama, “Lady Starr” . Dunbar is going to have to take his young Understudy aside and explain a few things to him .
@@prarieborn6458Big Joe gave Dunbar a tune-up. Maybe he needs to do the same thing to Mr Frisky.
@@carolynfrancis-mclucas6185 I think Mr. Frisky was trying to do what Dunbar does with watching over the mamma's not getting that she wanted space from him and Dunbar was too busy to tell him off as he was guarding the rest of the herd
@@prarieborn6458😊
139 was a great emotional support for the new mama!!!
Tricky stuff - great job!! You could tell she was stressed
CONGRATULATIONS 🎉
Congrats on your new red dog, and to Brookes for being so perceptive. That was awesome!
That was a beautiful birth. Such a precious little red dog. God is good🙏🙏🥰
Mother nature is amazing!
That was a beautiful birth. Brooks has great pure inicent instincts.
What an experience! Thanks for taking us along. And a special thanks to Brooks for the suggestion. That was super special footage.
I just love that Big Joe was coming to the 15:46 rescue!...and the lineage...and Brooks' comment and the proximity... If this is a heifer calf, her name should be Miracle!!!❤❤❤
I also love the name including Star for some reason!❤
Brooks has female intuition already. What a sweetheart.
Such a precious video! From your rescuing the momma, to her having her baby and your story about Brooks. Love this!
Congrats guys, that was beautiful!!
Oh Dusty, that is so beautiful… I cried. She is a fabulous mama.❤
❤❤❤ Fantastic Video!!! From getting the knucklehead away from her to the momma who just lost a calf coming by..... to the birth. What a great video. Thank you for sharing this wonder of nature. I held my breath until the baby moved. ❤❤❤
Raking the pasture. I love seeing the new calf being born. ❤ Thanks for showing us !
The mama was grateful to Dusty for getting the annoying bull off her back so she trusted and let Dusty close enough to witness the birth of her first calf. Even though, they still have their wild character, that shows they love Dusty (in their own way) and trust him as their care keeper. Thanks to Brooks who already has the rancher instinct! That was so awesome! ❤❤❤ Big Joe needs to teach that young bull how to behave with the mamas and their little ones!
Dusty, I Love the care and attention you give your Bison herd. You were right to get that young Bull away from the cow. You already named him, 'Knucklehead' seems about right! It's so good to see this little red dog made it. Thanks for sharing this beautiful act of nature with all of us.
Numbnuts hasn't integrated as smoothly Into the herd as I'm sure you and Marissa had hoped.
SO WONDEFUL! I'm noticing the cow that just lost her calf.... is standing as a sentry to this mamma.... unlike what we usually see. You may be right about the young bull.... Way to go... Bison Whisperer Brooke. Congratulations on another red dog!
Omg Dusty … another very emotional video !! Thank You Brookes for not wanting to nap that day ! I’m so great full you got Knucklehead out of the pasture with her ! Fantastic video of another live birth .. so excited and yes I stopped breathing waiting on the Red Dog to move and then when it did .. I was blubbering!!! What an amazing sight ! Blessings to you all!! Well done Brookes for being a great young rancher girl !!
Brooks is so intuitive! She has a connection with the bison, especially the mamas :) How special! So glad you were able to separate the mom so she could have a good birth! ❤️❤️❤️
That’s was so sweet seeing the other mom come check on her .
The names you was calling the young bull are all great names .lol
What a wonderful new baby! Thank you for sharing this wonderful story!
AMAZING footage Dusty! Brooke is already dialed in to bison ranching at her young age. She is special girl.
That bull caused the other momma to lose her baby, he probably chased and /or tried to bred her, bull can really be stupid. I want to thank you for raising bison.
Great Grandpa Dusty, Great Grandma Merissa & Great Aunt Brooks, welcome the newest red dog!
That was so beautiful, so happy you captured this.. and knucklehead is a perfect name for that bull. Thank you so much for sharing this… warms my heart.
Or if Dusty wants to stay with the "Dances with Wolves" theme, maybe "Wind in His Hair?"
The Little Rancher Miss Brooks knew what to do! ❤ Thank you Miss Brooks! Great video Dusty! ❤
I was holding my breath watching that baby. I thought for sure it was stillborn. Then I jumped & started laugh, crying when it took its first breath! So happy for another safe, live birth! Good girl, Brookes for wanting to do a herd check!
Congratulations Dusty on capturing the birth of a special lil red dog! You are doing an amazing job! Great job mama !
Dusty, thank you for sharing this. And thank you for the true and sincere safety message.
Good momma
Awww sweet little thing!
Thanks for sharing!! Amazing you got a video of the baby being born. So precious!🦬🩷
That was a beautiful birth. Brooks has great pure innocent instincts.
The miracle of a newborn,
Thanks Brooke for sharing your concern with your Dad. I think she's a chip off the old block as in having a real passion for her animals.
Dusty , both you and Melissa must be incredibly proud of your daughter, Brooke is displaying the same natural characteristics of a loving, caring person, she may be small but has a massive heart full of love for humans and her bison and other farm animals who are pets 😊
From the way you described that amorous young bull, Knuckle-head is the perfect name for him. 😊
Wow, amazing to see such a big animal be so gentle with her new baby. Loved this video!
I get tears every time a baby is born so beautiful 😊😊😊
Brookes and you saved the day!!😃😀
We raised Angus when I was younger and have helped deliver many a calf. Seeing a cow or any animal give birth is a true blessing and a gift from our Creator. Seeing this brought back so many memories, thank you and keep on Bison ranching.
Yes it does! Thank you for watching and following our bison ranching journey!
I really thought Big Joe would teach that little jack wagon a lesson or two, or the others would. Yes best to always be safe! Wish it was cooler!🙏🦬💜
Are the new lines, holes, for more hot-wire?
You should name him Jack for Jack wagon, or Knuckles, for Knucklehead 😅🦬💜
What a Glorious birth! All Glory to God! I was holding my breath! How fortunate Dusty, and what a Blessing to have witnessed it! So happy we all got to see this ! Thanks to Brooks, the Bison Whisperer! Keep Bison Ranchin!😘🙏🦬🌸💜
Bison Whisperer!!!! Love that. It is true!
Yay! It’s alive! I wondered for a minute there! What a GREAT video! Thank you ❤
Thank you Dusty and thank you Brooks! Gods miracles never stop amazing me! Sweet baby red dog!! ❤ beautiful family and bison.
Babyless cow’s hormones must’ve been going nuts! Probably a painful and confusing moment for her but there may have been good intentions there, too. My favorite part about this is the space the mother had to calve peacefully, without someone stupidly ripping the sac open or touching the calf. I realize these animals are dangerous and that makes it harder to do that, but i have a feeling even if it was optional, you would’ve given her space. Very lovely video! ♥️
Thank you! So emotional and rare footage.
This is the BEST video you've published! So satisfying, learning on the job and showing the resilience of those magnificent animals. The grieving mama was another insight to them. Thankyou for what you do.❤
Thank you!
What a great video! Watching Mom clean up her baby and it moving around so much is a true wonder of the world. Thanks for bringing this glimpse of raising bison.
Knucklehead sounds really good.
Congratulations on catching a beautiful birth! Bison are so incredible to watch. Good job sorting that bull away!
Wow!!! That was the coolest thing I think I’ve ever seen. Thank you so much for sharing this special occasion and footage. I’m also so in awe with how you care and handle your bison. It’s very inspiring and wonderful that you not only are doing such an amazing work here raising the American Bison but it’s obvious it’s not just a job or career to you. You honestly really care and have your heart and soul in this great endeavor of raising these gorgeous animals. I could watch you taking care of and handling the problems that arise all the time because you put so much of yourself into this. It’s a beautiful thing, I wish so many others that raised animals took the time and cared as much as you do. It’s truly heartwarming. I have a question. Does the afterbirth come out of the momma bison by itself or do you have to take it out? What a beautiful mom & baby! That silly male bison that wouldn’t leave her alone. Thank God your daughter knew she needed help. Great footage, loved this, thanks for sharing with the world. Keep it coming. By the way it would cool if your sweet daughter named the new baby. 🦬🦬🦬
Good job Brooks!🎉 Amen, good job parents ❤ Abvious parenting is paying off...🙏
Wonderful video! Looks like that bloodline is fairly easy to work around, for a bison. Brook's intuition spot on.
Congratulations Dusty and thank you for showing us the birth of another precious baby. I hope it's a female to add to the herd. Love frm South Africa.
I'm so happy, I cried with joy, God Bless you Brookes❤❤❤❤👀🙏🎁
