Hi, I have 3-4 years old fig tree I bought from Lowe’s 2 and half years ago, I didn’t get any fruits on first year, then I got fruits on second year, but they all fail off from tree before they got to be matured, I’ve pruned them very short last year, and now all new shooter came out from under the soil, I’m growing in pot, I got about 10 shooter, now I cut half of them off, and trim top off as you were saying, I still don’t see double bumps on anywhere, is it have to be double bumps in order to get fruits on them?

My trees real put out both woody, and fruit.
Question, when they are tree ripened to best sweetness, the areas where the fruit touches, a rot sets in, no signs of mold or visual of anything, just turns into a rotten spot.
    Any suggestions .

Ross- I have 2 Fico Blanco figs which I bought from Belleclare Nursery and kept in containers since 2014. They have produced virtually no fruit the past few years. Pruned back at lest a third this year. Worst producing of all my figs. Thoughts. I can send pics if it would help.

Luckily most of my fig trees put on figs, and most of the rest are putting on double bumps now. Unfortunately, my first year Black Manzanita grew quite a bit, being about 4 feet tall now, but hasn't put on fruit. I'm debating whether I should pinch, but may wait another 4 weeks, since living in a city situated in a southern California valley about 30 miles from the coast affords me ideal fig ripening weather until mid-November, and sometimes pretty decent weather as late as January in a year with consistent temps in the 80s during the day.

give the Black Manzanita time. if you pinch the apical bud, you'll change the shape of the tree and your trunk will take longer to get bigger. But that's if you really want tree shape and thicker trunk this year. Ross seems to take the opposite approach and goes for fruit in first year.

If you're not seeing fruit buds, I would wait to pinch, but you can focus on form now and pinch. Next year with the branching the pinching helped create, you'll have an easier time seeing fruit buds.

Ross, what if anything are you doing about lantern flies? I noticed some on your trees while watching the video.

Sorry I am not Ross the Fig Boss answering yet but I thought I would put in my two cents worth. I have seen and photographed the extremely beautiful spotted lantern fly a whole decade before Monsanto controlled USDA was aware of it in North America. I have orchards and gardens of numerous edible plants and have see absolutley NO negative effects from Spotted Lantern Fly. I am in the central U.S.A. amid the Ozark Forest.

They hangout around pretty much all of the plants. After maturity last year they all flocked over to a maple we have in the front of the house and some stayed on the grape vines. They do pretty much nothing other than cause a mess that eventually turns into sooty mold.

They were an agrarian culture. No one forgot when any harvest was due. The fig tree produces it's fruits in two stages. In the spring, it produces fruit on last year's limbs that is less in quality and quantity. In summer new shoots and leaves produce a better quality fig in greater abundance. This is the main harvest, or season. When Jesus saw there were none fruits out of season, indicated that the tree didn't produce from the previous year's growth...it was 'unfruitful' and served no purpose. Read a few verses earlier. They were headed to Jerusalem for Passover, in the spring. Most Christians are as unfruitful as that fig tree was. They neither research, nor live a lifestyle indicative of their professed faith. Brother, I am a Christian. You are a Muslim. I honor your way of life because you illustrate through your actions kindness for others and respect for God. Most Christians I meet got saved once and live any way they want to thinking about God only on Sunday for 45 minutes...lol They will see that they are the unfruitful tree that is cast into the fire. Christ isn't the problem with Christianity, Christians are. Until we come together in unity like our Muslim brothers, we will continue to be poor representatives of Jesus. The church is full of believers who don't believe. Take care brother.
