I use an A/B switch for my microphone so that I can use one mic and just toggle between going straight to my board or to the RC-500. It’s been very effective for making clean vocal or hand percussion loops.
One more accessory, add a splitter (e.g. Humdinger by Gigrig) before the RC-500. Send output A of the splitter to your amp. Send output B to the RC-500 (which carries the live instrument signal as well). Assign output A of the RC-500 to recorded loops and output B to the drum/rhythm sounds. Now, there are three independent outputs: live guitar/instrument, drums, recorded loops. This allows independent track recording, independent sending of click tracks to drummers, independent sounds to the mixer of all three signals. This overcomes the two output only issue of the RC-500. The RC-600 does not require a splitter because it has many outputs.
Ben your videos are really great .. it is really big inspiration your channel.. and I like that your really interested about all these technology stuff around music .. it really helps me in my music
Hi Ben. Thanks for all your really helpful vids. Do you know if I can use the Boss FC-50 Midi Foot Controller to operate my RC-500 please. Thanks mate. Best wishes from Australia 🇦🇺
Great video Ben! For my setup (RC10r) the most important accessory is the boss FS footswitches. I use 2x FS5U as they do not require any power. The second most important one is the proper Boss power supply. All other power supplies i have used create noise in the system. The boss one is silent, so if you're not operating on battery it is a must in my view.
Hey Ben, thanks a lot for all this information. I'm having trouble figuring out how to assign functions to an expression pedal. All I really want to do is be able to control the volume of loops via expression, any advice on that?
I've been using a power bank with a 9 volt adapter for some time now. I have one for 4 low consumption pedals and one for the RC-10,Volante and occasionally the Mooer Ocean machine. I get more than 4 hours.
How can I plug to the boss rc500 an Akai mini mk3 in order to make piano and drums with the pads and make loops (without computer/daw)? I found a pianoengine from midiplus can give sounds to the akai without pc/daw, but is possible to connect to the boss? Or maybe the boss have some sounds in presets that I can play if I plug in some way the akai directly?
Great videos Ben! Thank you for the info. I’m struggling with finding the right PSU adapter for the pacer. Do you have a link for that? (PSU 9V / 600mA center negative 2.1). Searching amazon has been a struggle getting the right adapters to populate (surprisingly). 🤷♀️
I like your videos bro...I do wish you would put chapters in your videos in order to be able to go back over a specific part again...just a suggestion...keep up the good work! :)
Another nice video, Ben. All good, sound advice. When you use your Nektar Pacer midi footswitch, can you get the RC-500 to start playback with one press on a footswitch to send a CC command and stop playback with one press on the same footswitch to send the same CC command? With my Harley Benton MP-100 I find that I have to press a footswitch twice to change from playback to stop and twice again to change from stop to playback.
Great vid - what's the easiest way to loop in a midi/USB keyboard (like my Novation Launchkey25) that just has midi out and USB but no line out? Right now I have midi keyboard --> usb out --> iPad USB adapter --> iPad --> 3.5mm out --> 1/4" RC500 in, which seems really cumbersome.
Hi Ben and fellow loopers, I am very hyped for the RC-600 and your videos on it, there is one thing I wasn't able to find out, I have two FS-6 footswitches hooked up to my RC-300, but if I am changing to the RC-600 I will need an Expression Pedal (which the RC-300 has, but the RC-600 won't have), will I be able to use a midi Expression Pedal (I have almost no experience with midi) with the RC-600 and continiue to use the two FS-6 pedals, or will I have to use one of the two footswitch jacks for an expression pedal?
Hey man, love your videos, I’ve been watching your stuff for a few months now and your content is super detailed and helpful! I’ve got the RC500 and I’m running it for my acoustic gigs. I currently have the Boss F6 external foot switch that I’ve set up to control my Rhythm on/off. Once I’ve recorded a loop over the rhythm, there are situations where I want to stop that guitar loop (eg. for a bridge/chorus chord changes) however once I stop that guitar loop it also stops my Rhythm beat when I’d like that rhythm start/stop to be completely independent of the RC500s stop button and only controlled by my external foot switch. I’ve played around with a heap of settings with no luck so I’m wondering if you have had any experience with being able to do this in your set up? I do have a little work-around where I will record my guitar loop on track 1 then switch to track 2 press record for a few seconds to record nothing and then once this ‘nothing track’ is continually running I can go back to track 1 and stop it when I need to and the rhythm will keep playing as the ‘nothing track 2’ is playing in the background. So it’s fine but if there is a way where I don’t have to record that track 2 of nothing then that would be ideal. Any tips from yourself or anyone who reads this comment running the RC500 would be awesome! Anyway keep up the awesome content man! Cheers
You prolly dont give a shit but does any of you know a way to log back into an Instagram account? I stupidly lost my password. I love any help you can offer me!
@Theodore Silas i really appreciate your reply. I found the site on google and im trying it out now. Seems to take a while so I will get back to you later with my results.
@Theodore Silas DAMN IT REALLY WORKED! I just got access to my ig password within about 45 minutes of using the site. Thanks so much, you saved my account :D
I’m thinking about getting an rc505. I already have an rc30. Just wondering if the rc30 could be used as an external foot switch for the rc505 instead of having to go and by a brand new fs6

Which do you use?
Just got my RC500, your videos have been a great help. Great communication skills, and the editing/style is great!

The Nektar Pacer is a great pedal board. Had mine for over a year now, and have had no issues at all.

Can you show how to set the variation change on the control pedal? It only allows me to do variation change for MIDI
Thanks for your videos 👍🏻 hello 👋🏻 from Mexico 🇲🇽

I have a Xiaomi power bank 20k mah and a 9 volt adapter that caps at 1 amp. How much time you think i could get out of the 500? Tnx & cheers!
@@mrholmeslyA long time. I have no idea. I suggest you try at home. Set it up and play, or just leave it on.

@Kannon Karter no problem :D
Will pretty much any midi foot pedal work with it. Want more options but not break my wallet.
Skinny little twins footswitch. Works perfectly and its passive so no power required. Google it.

Enda Callaghan unfortunately it cannot... the is no assignability to the rc-30. If you can afford.... the rc-500 is legitimately amazing...
@@MattGilmourMusic thanks Matt. Really appreciate you responding. The capabilities of the rc500 look incredible
Skinny little twins switch is far cheaper and does exactly the same thing. No power required as its passive. Enjoy.
What are you doing with the dual rc500 setup?
