      @@AlwaysBeChanging I am going back to jalisco, about 40 minutes from Guadalajara, 40 minutes from Ajijic (another expat-heaven)in opposite directions, about 4 hours from San Miguel. Yes, in Mexico every state you visit gives you the impression you are in a different country. Make a list of the cities named World Heritage by the United Nations and visit them you will not be disappointed, there are about 12 of them: San Miguel, Guanajuato (capital), Quretaro, Zacatecas (Capital) and its famous Guadalupe Museum, Morelia etc.. They all play in the same elite league of beautiful Mexican cities. Make a list of Pueblos Magicos (named by the Mexican government): Tequila, Tapalpa, Mazamitla, Yuriria, Jalpa de Canovas, Salvatierram Patzcuato etc Pueblos Magicos and World Heritage cities are the best of the best to visit. Thanks, Stephanie. We were pretty new at this when we filmed this episode. We’re planning to go back to SMA and create some new episodes. But when it comes to price, it’s hard to do when there are different party sizes and food/alcohol preferences. I will say we were pleasantly surprised at how affordable all our meals were in SMA. For our family of five and all the alcohol we ordered, our tabs all came out under $200. They were usually around $150 total.

      @AlwaysBeChanging  2 роки тому

      You’re right, adding cost would be helpful. But we didn’t include that in this video because it’s hard to compare our family/party to others. Our bill would reflect three kids and two adults who drink alcohol. 🥂 But I will say that SMA was surprisingly affordable for every meal we had. Our bill was around $150 per meal for the five of us.

      @@AlwaysBeChanging Thank you! We will be traveling this July. Honestly I have never been to this part of Mexico so I am very excited. But I can't seen to find any specifics on Covid unfortunately. And honestly I am not vaccinated, my real question is how safe you all felt if you don't mind me asking because of covid. I'm so sorry I hate to ask this but I hear so many mixed reviews on going: get vaccinated before, they will not let you return if you aren't vaccinated, or enter if you aren't. There is so much out there. I almost feel lost looking for answers. A friend recommended your videos and my husband and I could not be more excited. Thank you again so much!!!

    • @AlwaysBeChanging
      @AlwaysBeChanging  3 роки тому +2

      Alissa, SMA handled Covid very well in our opinions. Mexico didn’t have any requirements to get into their country at the time (very end of March). They took temps at almost every threshold and pumped hand sanitizer on you when you entered a new building. When we were there, you were required to wear a mask when walking around restaurants but not when you were seated at the table. Not sure how the rules have changes since then. Let me know if you have any specific questions about it. 👍🏻

    • @AlwaysBeChanging
      @AlwaysBeChanging  3 роки тому

      I also want to add that we used Get Tested Now (it’s a self administered test kit with a lab that monitors it over zoom) for our Covid tests to get back into the US. We were not vaccinated at the time we went and we had no issues feeling safe and getting tested before traveling back.

      Great point. But it would be difficult to compare our experience with having three kids and many cocktails for the adults :) to another family or group that might order differently than us. With that said, I can tell you I was very happily surprised at how affordable all the restaurants were. Our total bill for a family of 5 came out to under $200 for every meal. I believe all six were in the same price range. Quince may have been the most expensive because we ended up ordering more than we needed and there were a lot of small plates.

    Considering the list of restaurants chosen (pretty much a Trip Advisor list) I thought I would dislike your video. I didn’t because it was well edited and on the cute side with the kids. As far as the restaurants, the first and last one are simply snooty tourist traps owned by the same guy. Quince used to be much better. Still has the view but it’s really a bar. La Parada has indeed great food. Needless to say, all the rooftops are massively overpriced for Mexico.

      Appreciate the feedback and appreciate you giving our video a chance! We’ve been wanting to go back to SMA and create more content. We love the city and feel like there more for us to discover.

      @@aurelioquinonez2827 I was not expecting a darn thing. Just giving my opinion about a few restaurants in San Miguel that I dislike. What’s your point, anyhow?

      @@aurelioquinonez2827 Well, you are talking about my presumption but you are in fact assuming quite a few things ! First I am not a tourist but have lived and worked in Mexico for decades. Just as any resident, I know the value of a peso and I know what overpriced is and that means not getting much value for the price. Unfortunately San Miguel is full of such overrated and overpriced places. Again, what is the point you were trying to make by commenting on a months old post?

    Go to Mexico and eat Mexican food. Why would you order food that’s not from there. If you want good pasta to Italy.

      We appreciate all types of cuisine. We definitely covered Mexican food in our “Tacos & Tequila Tour”, also in San Miguel. One of the very special things about SMA is it’s diverse culture in art and culinary art. There are many international cuisine restaurants in the area with award winning chefs. Plus, it’s stunningly gorgeous rooftop views. I hope you make it there soon if you haven’t visited already!

      Because México is not an amusement park or a museum, we not only eat tacos, Do you know one of the most popular food in México is sushi, and next Pizza? We are a country like a any other one, not a stereotype fantasy, we eat our traditional food , and food from all over the world. You can find any kind of really good food here because we have a really good food supplies .

    Hey do u remember approximately how much were the dishes each night here at the restaurant?

    • @AlwaysBeChanging
      @AlwaysBeChanging  Рік тому

      It’s hard to remember each dish but I do remember the meals costs approximately $150 USD for our family of 5. Of course that would vary depending on how many cocktails. But meals are much more affordable than compared to US. Keep in mind this was almost 2 years ago.
