My wife and I just returned from SMA on Saturday. We spent a week there and it is magical! Thank you for your restaurant suggestions from a previous video you did. They were all great! We hope to rent for a few months next Summer in SMA. Keep up the great work!
We’re so happy our recommendations were helpful! We actually have a new restaurant recommendation episode coming out later this week. But most of our favorites are still from our first trip. We found a few great new ones though. Which restaurant was your favorite?
@@AlwaysBeChanging It's like picking your favorite child. lol. We loved Quince for the overall experience, Don Tacos Tequila was a pleasant surprise. Great food for a tiny little place. Cheers
My husband and I were in San Miguel in May and fell in love with the city, the architecture, food, culture and people! We even got invited to a local wedding while there! So good that you guys take time to do some volunteering at local organizations. ❤
It really feels good to watch you and show things we don't usually see for people like us who can't afford to travel ..hehehe ...and showing amazing experiences etc..
thank you for bringing your viewers to San Miguel de Allende. I have heard of this place before. I heard that it was an artsy city. I like the fact that you give us the history of the place. You always do this in your travel vlogs. I would like you to know that one of the things your bring to your subscribers is the SPIRIT OF JOY when you describe the places you visit. I have watched other channels like one showing a trek through Tibet. It was not a joyful blog. I did not feel a sense of joy. But your blogs always leave me with a sense of joy. Keep on trucking....and thank you for the joyful spirit that you leave us subscribers.
That's awesome, guys! Continue to have a good time wherever you decide to visit. I agree, Phil is an awesome narrator! Thank you for visiting Philippines ! I hope you guys will come back and perhaps stay a little longer to explore more of what our country has to offer. Take care and stay safe, guys!
Thank you! Yes, since we want to be back in the US half the time so that we can be with our 15-year-old daughter (followabc.com/our-story), we can only stay in-country for so long, but we are coming back to PH in just a few weeks 👍🏼 I guess we'll keep doing that until we've experienced at least 7k islands and all the great people!
Thank you for yet another great SMdA video from your family! I really enjoy watching the 2 restaurant/street food vids. What a lovely family! I like the cultural opportunities, food discoveries, and positive attitude you are providing for your children. Looking forward to a trip there for the month of February. Last trip was 2009.😮
Thank you! So happy you liked the episode 😊 You’re going to have a great time in February! Hoped you can sneak away to the hot springs, just 20 mins outside SMA Centro. We’re actually covering that in our next episode 👍🏻
Just had lunch but this made me hungry again....please do more of this local market + homecooking! ... Not only educational but am sure family travellers would also want to try - reminds me of my Siem Reap trip to market+cooking our own spring rolls and curry for lunch. And -- Thanks for sharing the Philippines again here...cheers Lockwood fam! ♥️
Googling about SMA Mexico surprised me to know that a lot of hollywood movies were shot in that city. Indeed an exciting place to visit. It looks well maintained & tidy everywhere. Hoping our local govt in PH could do thesame for our cities. Btw, the closest PH city i could think of somewhat similar to SMA is Vigan City in northern PH where lots of hispanic collonial structures were preserved, but not as gastronomically delightful & exciting as SMA unfortunately. Again thanks for taking us to SMA. Muchas Gracias!
It's such a great unique city, as we have found every city we've visited in the Philippines. We love how diverse and different this world is. We hope we can visit Vigan City sometime, sounds awesome.
Yes. Thank you for the reminder and correction. We’re going to add a correction to the details if we’re not able to put an overlay in there after it’s been published.
Love this episode! I miss our Mexican step-mom! You guys are really educating us! Hope you can do some cooking stuff with Filipino locals too 🧡🧡🧡 thanks guys!
I’m so glad you loved the episode! We love cooking with locals so much I hope we get to do that too. One of favorite times so far was in Croatia, such a fun experience.
I was actually drinking one litre of Lima agua de frutas, when I saw Phil was having Lima. I love these 'everyone helps cook' type of videos... everything looked tasty.
👋 It was meant to be then. We all like the cooking episodes too. It’s a great way for us to all get our hands dirty and the food has never disappointed us. And yes, it was tasty!
Nice To see Again Another Videos From You Guys, Thanks For Sharing Your Adventures in Mexico…. POWER ON Guys Stay Safe and God Bless, Beautiful Family 🙏👍👍👍✌️👌🙌💕
Thanks for this video. I learned a lot. The wife and I are moving there to retire in 3 years. She was born in Mexico, but I was born in Texas. We are looking forward to it. I am an artist, musician, etc, so it should be fun. We plan to travel the globe once there - I gotta play Golf, too. LOL. Thanks, again.
Just to clarify, the pink stone found around San Miguel and the Guanajuato region is not a lime stone, it is Cantera. Cantera is formed by volcanic ash and dust. Limestone is a sedimentary stone.
San Miguel is wonderful! It’s so beautiful, charming, full of color, it’s awesome there. You should definitely check it out. And best rooftop restaurants in the world!
Hi Lockwoods! You guys are really inspiring. I think the education your kids are getting through travel is priceless. I wish my family could do the same. Will you please make a video about how your kids are doing their schooling? I’m very interested in hearing the ins and outs and also the pros and cons. I think this will be very informative for parents everywhere.
Thanks so much! We are always wrapping our heads around the best way to do an episode that includes their schooling. It’s in the works, hopefully soon we can publish something like that. Thanks for watching and following us along!!

Thank you so much for this message. We truly appreciate your support. We were overwhelmed with gratitude with the attention our videos got in the Philippines. The Filipino people seemed so passionate and engaged in our episodes, we had to listen and come back. We’ll be back in January! But I’m so happy you’ll be watching our videos in the meantime. SMA is a beautiful city we’re happy to share and then we have a 5 city tour through a Europe checking out the festive Christmas markets. I hope you enjoy them all with us 😊.
FYI, no yellow lemons or other foods many are accustomed to in any Mercado. Watch the floors; they can be slippery sometimes. Trek to Comer Supermarket, The City Market and Luna de Queso. Lots of fantastic restaurant food here, all prices. Wonderful people. Helps lots if you know Spanish, and I do. How do I know this and lots more? I live here. Mexico saved my life. Nice vid, but most people can’t afford your travel lifestyle. Like anywhere else, be aware of surroundings. Stay safe.
Thank you for the tips! We have 2 more SMA episodes coming soon, both of which are food and restaurant tours. Hope you catch those and offer your feedback 👍🏼
Wow! Nice place! The churches and cathedrals here are somewhat similar to our country the Phils. due to the Spanish influence here and in our country... And yeah, thank you for featuring your Phil. travel in this video..
I am a new subscriber. I’m enjoying your vlogs. I came across your channel while researching Inspirato. I’m reading lots of info about it. I also watched your 2 videos about Inspirato. My husband and I are going to San Miguel in March. I’m super excited.
We ❤️ SMA. And Inspirato!! Feel free to email me erin@followabc.com if you have any questions about it. It’s always great to get a members perspective.
I wish when you come back here in Philippines..i hope you will come to visit the city of Baguio...it is mountainous region of Luzon..you can see the most breathtaking sunrise and also the coldest part of the Philippines...
I got so excited I thought I was going to get a free Mexican cuisine cooking lessons lol. I guess a trip to SMA and a lesson with Stephanie is forthcoming.
😆 There we’re so many dishes being cooked at once it was too hard to keep up with. But seriously, we can’t emphasize how delicious that ginormous meal was!
Your channel is so awesome! So informative and engaging. 😊 May I ask the online schooling program you enrolled your kids in so you have the freedom to travel? I'm interested to have the same flexibility. Thank you! 😊
Thanks, Bunny! The kids use a public online school, Connections Academy, and it varies by state. But I’ve heard great things about Ignite. It’s a private online school that requires tuition but you can join from anywhere.
Hello, just wanted to say, keep up the good work you guys are doing down there in Mêxico and keep them videos coming... If you get a chance you should visit Morelia, awesome colonial/European city...
I applaud the way you are displaying such a positive vibe in your videos. I DO like them. Of course, it helps that your travels fall into the ultra luxury level. The house in SMA is exceptional but in all senses of the word. It’s an … exception. Most Airbnb and rentals do actually suck. We live 45 minutes from San Miguel and used to spend two or three nights a month in the city and enjoying the restaurant scene and friends. In the past 3 years, that number has dwindled to perhaps twice a year. Why? Simply because of all the negatives that shows up after the novelty fades. What’s left is a noisy and overcrowded small town in the weekend but one that dies for the other 4 days. The city is small but walking is not that easy with the hilly parts and horrendous sidewalks. As far as being the best city of the world (really was voted as the best small city) that speaks volumes about the voting system of that magazine and not so much about the reality! A bit like the ridiculous S. Pellegrino ranking of restaurants. Again, I must applaud you for making the very best and presenting a glowing image of your trip but it’s hardly the standard life of tourists and residents of SMA. Most foreigners who live in SMA are looking a living as cheaply as possible.
Thank you for appreciating our vlogging style and the video. We've heard a many people comment on how SMA is supposed to be more crowded. But it's interesting that this is our second trip there and the second home we've stayed in and the traffic was the same each time. We are also ver aware that Inpirato (our destination club) has a very consistent standard with their homes and experiences. When we've collected our drone footage, we've seen that so many of the other homes are gorgeous on the other side of those beautiful doors.
I completely agree. That house is hardly a ‘traditional Mexican experience’. It’s a privileged experience. I am a permanent resident of Mexico living near SMA and that is not something that would be affordable to anyone that I know. Mexican or Expat.
We currently have an apartment in BGC Manila. We love the little city we’re in there and we love exploring the Philippines. But Phil and I would say our dream destination to live is probably Florence, Italy.
Thanks! 😊 We booked that home through our travel destination club, Inspirato. Feel free to ask me any questions about it. You can also learn more at followabc.com/pass.
Great video! Just one thing. A tamale doesn't exist. It's either TAMAL, singular or TAMALES plural. TamalE hurts in the ears, that e in the end is silent. It is not pronounced. Actually it is non existant, not even silent since it is not written anywhere: so I don't really understand why it is always being added when talking about a singular TAMAL. ;)
husband speaking - THIS was an interesting video even if it was a lot about food. It was how you collected everything, preparing it and finally chowing down. Other videos of eating and wine tasting - not so much for me. I may spend 10 min going through your 20 min. story - stoping whenever the kids are taking part. I've watched two of your Inspirato talks. For me only, having been to Europe only the one time, and as I said impressed with the history but unimpressed by their lives and how they have to live. Your current life style of going to these far away marvelous places, staying at the very best homes or hotels, eating, eating, is not a life for many folks, or affordable. Just being able to go for 2 or 3 weeks at one time is not an option for many every day workers. Your trip to the Philippines, for 3 weeks, is a minimum length that you need to recover from jet lag, loss of a day or two in traveling and to travel to 2 or 3 places to see. How many folks can do that. It's wonderful that you have these video stories that your children can look back on when they are older. I'm going to watch all your stories, some a little faster, others I will drag my feet. If your wife is the editor, she is a marvel. dennis kjolso - age 80
Thank you, Dennis. We appreciate your interest in all our videos. We are aware our lifestyle isn’t a typical one, but it’s the one we enjoy working hard to have. We make our videos because we enjoy sharing them with everyone. But it’s a big bonus that we get to relive these beautiful memories through them.
We gained a lot of subscribers/viewers in the PH while posting our PH episodes and it seems that many of them (but certainly not all of them) aren't interested in watching our other destinations. Anyway, we're doing this so that our kids and family can experience all the great cultures of the world, so even if many filipinos don't care to see those travels, we're not gonna stop! Maybe those viewers will jump back in when we return to PH in a few weeks ;) Thanks, Ferdinand!
Great Video & beautiful Family as always! We really like and enjoy most of your content but please explain to me... How does it make any sense that all those kids in the school have a mask on their faces??? Are you kidding?? Those poor children are going to get a tremendous lung infection!!! And why can adults walk around without masks and the poor children can't??? How does all this make sense? We truly love your channel and you seem to be a beautiful family but let's be honest and don't blind ourselves from the crazy things that are happening and the total abuse of those poor children. With love and respect for you!
Honestly, we didn't even discuss the mask policy at the school, but in general the mandate here was much more relaxed that in the Philippines, where you're still required to wear them indoors everywhere and in most commercial/public transportation.
husband speaking - If your wife wasn't so tall compared to the daughter, the way she bounces around, you might think she was just the older sister & not the mother.
We didn't have any issues with the tap water. But if you have a sensitive stomach it's better to be safe than sorry and only drink bottled or filtered.
Wish we were. We just got back this weekend. But our travel club we book many of the homes we stay in is thinking about adding another home there so hopefully we’ll be back to check that out!
I’m curious how you know that the produce in the Mercado is ground “organically“? Can you verify that they do not use pesticides or chemical fertilizers?

I hope before you suggest, you checked their videos😊 they’ve been to Coron and Boracay . They’ve tried some of the food you indicated.Amanpulo is not safe for foreigners. Halo-Halo of Kabigting is the Best. You forgot to mention Batanes.
I liked your video - but just hafta say the food at the mercados is NOT all organic. Many times the veggies and meat are from the giant agricultural businesses in Mexico.
How did you get so much footage with hardly anyone on the streets and walkways and no cars. I lived there for 12 years and while it is a beautiful little town Your video is not an honest portrayal
@@AlwaysBeChanging There were road blocks the other day heading to San Miguel. Guanajuato Is one of the worst states in terms of violence. Just sayin, teach your children well! Saludos

Thank you Diana and Kenny! I’m so glad you found us 🤗
I got so excited I thought I was going to get a free Mexican cuisine cooking lessons lol. I guess a trip to SMA and a lesson with Stephanie is forthcoming.
😆 There we’re so many dishes being cooked at once it was too hard to keep up with. But seriously, we can’t emphasize how delicious that ginormous meal was!
Really enjoy your sophisticated take on the locale.
Thank you!

Awesome video. Thanks guys :)
It’s our pleasure! We love all the exploring we do and we really love sharing it all.
Nice video! Greetings from Texas
Hey, thanks for watching, Anthony!
Doña Diana Kennedy come and see us in " Día de los muertos " !
@@AlwaysBeChanging thank you for your prompt reply! Will check this out. Safe travels and keep up the great work! 😊

An incredible city! Is that where you live or just visit?
Ho my god !! That's I call authentic Mexican food homemade, congrats guys looks so delicious 😋

Hey there in Seattle!
Hello, just wanted to say, keep up the good work you guys are doing down there in Mêxico and keep them videos coming...
If you get a chance you should visit Morelia, awesome colonial/European city...
Fantastic video. The pronunciation is chee-PAW-tleh. Furthermore, one TAMAL (tah-MAHL) it does not have an ending E. FYI.
Thanks! We we’re actually arguing if tamale pronounced the “E” at the end. 👍🏻
Beautiful city 😍
Yes! So pretty. One of our favorites 🤩
@@AlwaysBeChanging enjoy. we’re supporting you
I applaud the way you are displaying such a positive vibe in your videos.
New subscriber here!! 😊Who’s Amanda? She wasn’t introduced in the video.
She’s our best friend. She’ll travel with us a few times each year.
NICE VIDEO 😋
Thank you 🙏 😊

México hermoso ❤❤❤,🇲🇽
Safe travels 🇵🇭 ❤️
Thank you! 😊
Of all the places in the world that you guys have been to, what country would you choose to live in ? thank you for all your very interesting videos!
We currently have an apartment in BGC Manila. We love the little city we’re in there and we love exploring the Philippines. But Phil and I would say our dream destination to live is probably Florence, Italy.
Awesome vlog! How/Where did you find the place you stayed at? Many Thanks in Advance!
Thanks! 😊 We booked that home through our travel destination club, Inspirato. Feel free to ask me any questions about it. You can also learn more at followabc.com/pass.
Some vlogers had tasted Mexican cuisine and seen other place in Mexico, perhaps see their vlogs which might help you go around faster.
Worldly family ❤️ hope the back didn't hurt so much on that long flight from Asia but nothing a few tequilas won't fix lol
A few *bottles of tequila 😂👍🏼

It really is! 👍🏻😊

Great video!
Just one thing. A tamale doesn't exist.
It's either TAMAL, singular or TAMALES plural. TamalE hurts in the ears, that e in the end is silent. It is not pronounced. Actually it is non existant, not even silent since it is not written anywhere: so I don't really understand why it is always being added when talking about a singular TAMAL. ;)
Thank you for sharing that! We are now wiser :)
@@AlwaysBeChanging You guys rock!
husband speaking - THIS was an interesting video even if it was a lot about food. It was how you collected everything, preparing it and finally chowing down.
Other videos of eating and wine tasting - not so much for me. I may spend 10 min going through your 20 min. story - stoping whenever the kids are taking part.
I've watched two of your Inspirato talks. For me only, having been to Europe only the one time, and as I said impressed with the history but unimpressed by their
lives and how they have to live. Your current life style of going to these far away marvelous places, staying at the very best homes or hotels, eating, eating, is not
a life for many folks, or affordable. Just being able to go for 2 or 3 weeks at one time is not an option for many every day workers. Your trip to the Philippines, for 3
weeks, is a minimum length that you need to recover from jet lag, loss of a day or two in traveling and to travel to 2 or 3 places to see. How many folks can do that.
It's wonderful that you have these video stories that your children can look back on when they are older. I'm going to watch all your stories, some a little faster, others
I will drag my feet.
I noticed the sudden drop of your youtube views after the Philippines vlog... anyways mexico is really nice place..
Maybe those viewers will jump back in when we return to PH in a few weeks ;) Thanks, Ferdinand!
they are not for traveling/ vlogging for clout 😊 I’m a Fil sub and loving every vlog because I’m learning different cultures.
@@AlwaysBeChanging Thanks for the reply.
We wish you a great end of the year!
Greetings from Finland!
husband speaking - If your wife wasn't so tall compared to the daughter, the way she bounces around, you might think she was just the older sister & not the mother.
That’s a huge compliment 😊
Mexico... is the twin sister of the Philippines... 😀
In Mexico. The food is better, infrastructure is better, weather is better. I can't think of anything better in the Philippines
@@freerange6739 Filipinos are better in the Philippines.
What ?.. I’m Mexican and I think we are very different
I noticed the use of tap water. Is it safe to do that?
We didn't have any issues with the tap water. But if you have a sensitive stomach it's better to be safe than sorry and only drink bottled or filtered.
Lets go
👋 Thanks for watching 🤗
Still in San Miguel de Allende? Let’s meet up.
Wish we were. We just got back this weekend. But our travel club we book many of the homes we stay in is thinking about adding another home there so hopefully we’ll be back to check that out!
Places in Mexico by the sea or lakes are much better, and getting safer by the day (even safer than San Miguel de Allende, which is in a cartel state)

Can you share the property address and how to rent?

I’m curious how you know that the produce in the Mercado is ground “organically“?
Can you verify that they do not use pesticides or chemical fertilizers?
We can’t personally verify that but we based our knowledge on what our guide/chef told us and asking vendors questions.
Try to go back in Philippines. i saw your views and Your travel in Philippines ar so many views
Lol why can't you just support them even if they're not in the Ph?! pinoynganaman

no es lima , es limon
¡Sí! Nos dimos cuenta de eso después de un par de días y luego nos sentimos tontos. 😏
You do know that the “locals” don’t live in a huge home with jacuzzi + views, right?
.
We didn’t do anything to manipulate the traffic - foot or automobile. It’s an honest portrayal of our experience there.
