  • THIS VIDEO DESCRIBES SOME OF THE SYMPTOMS OF THE CAM SENSOR WHICH CAN BE STRANGE AND VARIED. THE SENSOR CANNOT BE SERVICED AND IS IN THE DISTRIBUTOR WHICH MUST BE REPLACED. THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM WHICH THEY ARE KNOWN FOR AND BE PREPARED TO BUY DISTRIBUTORS BY THE TRUCK LOAD. IF YOU GET THE CODE OR SYMPTOMS DO NOT LEAVE ON A TRIP YOU CAN BE STRANDED.

This is TYPICAL Villager distributor problem. Buy a Napa new distributor and don't look back. Do not put a cheap distributor in it.

yes and an update--it turns out when I put in the new distributor when stranded in death valley THAT THE NEW ONE WAS BAD--OR GOING BAD. When after a day the same symptoms started developing I refused to believe that "the new one is bad??"--I fumbled along on high risk trips a couple days after the rescue--it got worse. Error code said camshaft position sensor. Put in ANOTHER ONE--instant fix and been fine since. I regret now that I did not put in a top dollar one. Only saving thing is "guarantee for life so you can keep taking them back in"--combined with swapping distributor is easy. So no confusion--THREE distributors in about a year--not just 2.

@@jaysilverheals4445 where did you buy yours and how did you confirm it was bad?

I’ve got the feeling that the problem I’m having is a bad distributor. Do the earlier models (1996) with the 3.0 V6 suffer from distributor problems too? At 1500 RPM the engine chugs and hesitates making no power. Thank you!
