I have learned tons from this and love your attitude and voice
You have very cleverly made something that I initially thought was chinese cloisonné. Wow its painted plywood!!! Bloody brilliant.
thanks so much you explain wonderfully!
I love these tutorials. Please, please do more of them! Your projects are lovely.
I love this technique! I have used this two step crackle medium on some of my painted pieces but I love it on the decoupage piece! Thank you for sharing!
I want to crackle over a painting for antique effect, so this is the most useful video on the subject I've seen. Thank you.
Love how this turned out! Beautiful!
I really love this! TFS, Blue and White are my favorite collection! Beautiful ♥️
I loved your tutorial!! Bang up with the napkin technique. I will be using that from now on. No more napkin tears!
Simply gorgeous! Thank you for sharing your talent!

Just discovered your channel, and I love these gifts you’ve made. Thanks for the thorough explanation with tips for good crackle effects. I’ve been nervous to try this, but I think I’ll give it a go now!
Thanks for another terrific video. You made another gorgeous ornament. Love this technique, following the crackle medium. Pastels sound perfect.
Fantastic tutorial! You could not have done a better job of showing us how you do this. Thank you so much!
Beautiful work. Loving the tip on transferring the varnish to a jar! So simple :)
This heart looks so beautiful, and you're right, the 2 - step crackle glaze does give it a real porcelain look. I've been practising your water transfer method with napkins and I love it. It definitely gets easier with time! When you get the hang of it, it's fun to do. Thanks, love from Amanda in Australia.:-)
Very pretty. Love how this looks.
I used crackle medium years ago. Need to get some and make some pretty pieces.
New subbie to your channel. Glad you came up on my feed.
Well I just subscribed because I like what you do with the napkin application idea and I just watched your crackle method which I really like! Thank you for these videos, will look forward to seeing more of what you do. 🙂

So many great tips. This is beautiful! Checking out your Etsy shop - Merry Christmas!
Wow!!. Thanks for sharing. I would love to try it with the crackle effect.
Thanks for the tutorial. It’s beautiful. If you have video of how you’re achieving such perfect borders around your pieces, I’d love to watch. Thanks again!
Perfect video, I have struggled with crackled effect for ages. Many thanks 😊❤️
This is so beautiful! I have never done something like this before, but I have done napkin art, so I definitely want to try this! I also loved your "wet" napkin application so I will be trying that also. Thank you!!😊
Really beautiful. I never thought to add crushed pastels with my mica powders. Great idea! I imagine my unused eye shadows and blush would work too. Oh! The possibilities! TFS!
I dont mean to be so off topic but does someone know of a method to log back into an instagram account??
I stupidly lost my password. I would appreciate any help you can give me.
@Denver Elisha Thanks for your reply. I found the site through google and I'm trying it out now.
Takes quite some time so I will reply here later with my results.
Just found you. Excellent video; great directions & description of products. I can't wait to try this.
Wonderful! Love some of your tutorials. Will share in the future on my blog (beadinggem) so others can come learn!
Soooo Gorgeous, Love this. You do such great tutorials... Thank you for sharing your Beautiful work :)
This is really beautiful I'll have to try to 2 step crackle. Thanks
That is adorable. I love working with crackle. I use a different one but you can see it on my latest resin geode video, my first geode painting turned out beautiful.
So glad to have seen your video!! Thank you oohhh sooo much...I want to try it.
That was gorgeous
Hola! Muy bello su trabajo, lo haces ver muy sencillo, gracias por compartir tus tutoriales.
It is a very beautiful drawing! You are very talented!
Beautiful idea and well done instructional video
Very pretty. Thank you for teaching me
I never heard of adding pigment to bring out the cracks - brilliant!
Looks awesome
Just beautiful.
Love this idea 😍
I just love it 😍
Found this channel yesterday - love it!! Subbed - of course!!!
gorgeous technique tyfs
Very nice. I’d love to see large sized sheets of decoupage used 😄 in one of your tutorials!!
Fantastic tips!!
I luv it!!!
So pretty! I would love to see you do the pastels in the cracks!
You are so talented
So pretty thank you
That is just beautiful! Thank you so much for the wonderful tips. What do you use on the back? Is it just painted?
I painted it black and then applied gold decor wax on top and that’s it as it doesn’t need sealing
👍👏🙌🌹 nice work and explanations , tnx .
love it! i will try it with distress inks - cause i do not have that shimmer stuff!
Great tutorial thank you
Bellissimoooo ♥️♥️♥️
great, thanks for taking the time to record this, love the look of the crackle effect , gives your pieces an old world look. Can I ask how many coasters you'd get out of the 1 litre bottle, just wondering which is better value, thanks so much 😊
oo 1 litre bottle will give you quite a bit, difficult to say as I bought this crackle like 5 years ago when I first started decoupaging and then didn't use it for 3 years + I used it on many different projects so it's really hard to tell. all I can say is that I got way more out of my little bottles then I thought I would!
Love it! Looks like an old delft blue tile! What's the brand of the metallic pigments, please? Great tip for the varnish too! Thank you and Happy New year!
Thank you thank you so much for your clear precise explanations. I bought these the bundle of crackling paint. However, I was waiting for two days for the type one layer to dry. No until you explain that the layer remained sticky I could understand the process. I thought I was the same as the cracking glace which I had to wait until it was perfectly dry.
Hi I am glad that I followed your demo thank you God bless.Olga
Here in the states Deco Art mades 1 one step crackle. You put it on a painted surface let it dry and apply a complementing color on top. The top coat crackles and you see the bottom color through the cracks. Then varnish.
Brilliant tutorial. Can’t seem to find the two step glaze here in the UK. Just wondering if Cosmic Shimmer Craquelure Glaze might work the same. Thanks.
Bien bonito 😍
THANK YOU, ALWAYS WANTED TO KNOW HOW TO DO THIS.
CAMILLE AUSTRALIA
Thank you for the video...enjoyed it very much!
Comment and question please - after applying the pigment, you wipe off the access. This leaves a thin layer on top of the entire project. It's not so noticeable on the bluebird napkin project, but very apparent on this heart ornament that has so much white. Can you simply use a damp (with water or other product) cloth to clean the project of the access surface pigment without disturbing the crackle pigment areas?
Once again, thank you.

GOTIT‼️🎃
I used to decoupage in the early seventies, glad to see it coming back. Can u use modge podge in final coat vs. varnish
you defnitely can on pieces that wont get used as much so for something that's just gonna hang and look pretty you can definitely just mod podge, but for somthing that's gonna be used more I'd recommend varnish
Hi love your work , I have used crackle and not good at waiting for my work to dry so I use my hair dryer lol
Happy to have found your channel and look forward to more videos. Do you think I could use resin instead of varnish?
I personally haven't used resin over the top so can't be 100% sure but I don't see any reasons why you wouldn't be able to! :)
Your work is so beautiful. I am going to try the crackle glazing. Can you tell me what the pigment is that you are using and where in the uk I can purchase it please. Thank you
Thank you for taking the time to make a video and to share it with us, it's beautiful! I just had a vision and it might take a bit of work, but I just saw my tub/shower encloser in this image on separate tiles. I would make the tiles first and then paste and grout them as one. Do you think I should add crackle to the grout also? Would it undo the sealing part of grout? I could do the crackle and not put in any pigment so it wouldn't take away from the look of the tiles. Do you think this would work and of course I would add a waterproof sealant.
Ooo that's a very difficult question for me to answer as I know nothing about tiles and how you apply them etc. I do know that people have decoupaged on to tiles that are already on the wall. as long as the tile is on the wall properly you can apply anything on to the facing side. same goes with the crackle, I as long as after you've done your decoupage/crackle/anyting else you might want to do you seal it with the right kind of sealant you're going to be absolutely fine. That being said, You should also be able to do it before the tile is on the wall as you're only going to be working with one side of it so as long as the other side stays untouched you should be fine. In theory :D
@@IvetaZiedina Thank you for your reply! I did think I would need to seal it. Thanks for sharing, again!!
thank you for sharing great content - where in the uk did you find this small crackling kit please ?
Can I please ask , l bought some 5 ml foam board and I want to paint it with acrylic paint but it does seem rather glossy ,would I be able to lightly sand it , to do you have a better option that would work . Many thanks for your fabulous tutorials . X
I absolutely LOVE this crackle look! Your ornament is just GORGEOUS!! I've looked everywhere and can't find your recommended crackle medium...can you provide a link? Thank you for sharing your gift🌻
You know you can do crackle without buying expensive packs for that effect. You can use PVA aka Elmers glue and paint. Have a look on Pinterest.
Shabby Art Boutique has a blog and pins on Pinterest she tells how to get that look with just paint and PVA aka elmers glue.
What a great video! Now I understand how crackle works and how you made my beautiful bird plaque that you showed in the corner. I didn't think that you rambled at all in the beginning; it was useful info. Have you ever done crackle in a shade of the one on the object you are working on? Like doing a light blue on that heart, or would that even work. I love your hearts. You are truly an artist. (That's great that the pastels are still useful to you.)
Thank you so much lovely, I had to show your plaque off it’s too nice 😄🥰 I haven’t thought about that’s kind of shading to be fair, great idea 😄 see I need you in my life! 🙌💐
Your work is stunning! What do you use on the back's and sides of your projects? Thanks
thank you, it depends on the project really, this time I used black acrylic paint and gold decor wax over the top. I also try to paint the back in a similar colour to the rest of the project so that it fits in :)
Thank you for your beautiful videos. Could you have used the decorators varnish on top of your project instead of the one you used?
You do such beautiful work, thank you so much for sharing. Did you seal before you added crackle?
I applied 1 layer of varnish over the top of the napkin but only because I used varnish as glue, so if I had just used mod podge to glue down the napkin I would apply crackle directly on top
Iveta, thank you so much for your videos. They are so helpful and easy to follow. I’m just starting out, and I was looking for instructions on how to make a picture and the object it’s on the have a crackle appearance, and this video showing the 2 step crackle finish is it! I do have a question about the metallic pigment. Is it a wax or just a powder? I found a set of several different colors here in the US called “pearl ex powdered pigments.” Do you think those are what I need? Do I mix them with anything or just rub them on as is? Thank you again! Wendy
Thank you so much for your kind words!
Metallic pigments I have are just powders, with regards to pearl ex pigments I wouldn't know for sure, I just googled them and I honestly can't say for definite as I've not used calligraphy powders before but I would be inclined to try them. I know that powders that I use and most people I know use are Mica powders, they come in a range of colours, I just did a quick search on amazon and it looks like there are plenty to choose from. Sorry I'm unable to say for sure :(
The powders that I use, I just rub them on as they are without mixing anything else in to them unless I want to mix colours in which case I just mix different coloured powders together. I hope this makes sense and helps x
Thanks for your response! I looked on Amazon and found some described as “Mica Powder- Natural Powder Pigments- Epoxy Resin Dye-“ I hope these are what I need. I can’t wait to learn more so I will be following all your videos. 😊
This is so pretty, I love it! I was wondering if its possible to do both sides of the heart? I haven't tried this technique so I'm not sure if there is only one 'good' side to your heart. :D
Thank you, you can definitely do both sides, just make sure to do one side at a time ☺️
also can you recommend where you get your hearts from please
Beautiful work. Where do you find your beautiful napkins?
Beautiful technique and project! I wonder if Pearl X powders will work, there's many colors available.
Good video. Please show how to prepare Pastel colour for filling cracks.
Thank you. I have never done this. Looks awesome. 💖
If you are doing the coasters, what do you use so that they can have a hot cup of tea or coffee on them, without melting the varnish?
Hello, there is a video on my channel now showing how I make my coasters as well, but to answer in short - Polyvine heavy duty wood varnish, it is water based but also heat and water resistant so I just apply 3-4 coats to each side ☺️
@@IvetaZiedina Thank you! Yes, I watched your video on making coasters already. I actually do a different kind of art and I have been trying to find a varnish that could be used on coasters, with no luck so far. I have searched and it seems that I can get this varnish in Australia. So thank you heaps 💕💕💕
I love what you are doing too 💖💖💖
Would you please do a video on how to use the pentart 2-step crackle because I bought it but haven't used it yet
Wow! I love this!
Where do you get decoupage napkins and paper? Thank you. I love the crackle look.
How did you finish the back? This is so beautiful.
Wow very beautiful work!! I have a question I have never done any crafts such as this I was wondering and it may sound stupid to some but I just don't know any thing bout this crafts like deco! I do wreaths and shadow box's is as far as my crafting skills have gone!! But this is something I would love to start doing!! Please don't think ill of me for asking but where do you buy your napkins? And do you have to buy whole packs at a time? Or is there some fb group or some type of group I could join to maybe purchase a few napkins from just so I don't have to purchase whole packs for one crafts project!?
oh it doesn't sound stupid or silly at all! Finding papers and napkins is a hole venture of its own! :D I usually get mine on ebay uk, usually they sell 4 napkins so you don't have to buy the whole pack. there's also decoupage related fb groups where people advertise napkins they have for sale look for decoupage buy and sell type of groups. best advice I can give is type in Decoupage napkins in to google and see what comes up. I only really know UK market and where to buy them here - not sure where about's you are like. I rarely buy whole packs however sometimes you can stumble upon some very pretty ones in normal shops in which case - a whole pack goes :D
Very nice creation. I would like to see how you crackle medium size picture. I have one that is about 8 by 10 that I would like to give a very old antique art look. Hope that is don't that you would do a video.
How did you do the edge of the heart? It's a different color from the white and blue. Thanks.
Very helpfull video. Usually i skip through tutorials but i enjoyed your calm and casual tone.
