That’s what’s all about, love, the sacrifice of a widow for her children n the sacrifice of Stephen’s education to help out in running the family business. Glad it all paid out, a success story👍👍
The old photos from Katong Roxy theatre brought back many memories. I was then a little girl of 7 or 8 yrs old n grew up in Katong area all my 29 yrs. All these street food were my favorite n still missed them. My husband loves eating Vadai with green chilli. I would buy them, freeze it n bring it back home to Japan. Thank you for bringing back all these street food. N we Sporeans, should honor all these hawkers n remember them in the Spore Food Hall of Fame n their photos should be at our local museum so our younger generations will learn from humble beginnings.🙏❤
i loveee vadai❤❤❤❤ the tears of a single mother who is so proud of her children with their resilience and success.... Congrats on yr 11th branch.....Alhamdulillah.....Malaysian vadai freak😅
Well presented documentary. I really enjoyed the video and a little side story along with it. The food in the video looks good enough to eat. Thank you.
Alhamdulilah. Good for them. Sincerely happy with what they achieved. That clearly means, everyone success is there. All we have to do is to keep going at it and eventually we get somewhere 😊 Thank u auntie for stating strong I would love to work with my family if i have 1.. Its a blessing 😊
26:52 this epok epok stall at Golden Mile food centre is closed... 😭 it's my favorite... Anyone knows if the reason or they have shifted to another place? 🥺
I’m Chinese, but in my very early childhood, late sixties, I had some Indian’s snack. Too young to know the difference. I had the best falafel. I am still looking for the “ original taste.”
I tried idea of smoothness Abt Vadai that the prawns shell be peeled first? And common sense of job application to look "came back in lifestyle" like shell-peeling jobs?
Please: Open more food courts to be managed by our country social enterprise group employing Singaporeans. The stalls are managed by our country's social services?
It is tough running food business. With high material n rental cost, hawkers work long hours with little income. The famous stall now can make more money. Singapore traditional food are disappearing and I tried hard finding good traditional food over SG. Hawker centres food are getting quite boring, selling almost same things. Malay and indian food are not as common.
Nowhere near it in taste. I enjoy empanadas, but these curry puff varieties of Singapore are very unique. I hope that someday you’ll have the opportunity to try them.

God bless the family. A mother’s love, concern and sacrifice for her children can never be replaced or replicated.

Original Vadai is the best! My husband and I will ALWAYS buy whenever we pass by an outlet. So happy to finally see the owners behind it!
Ms Karen Tan pronounciation for each language is perfect. She takes her time to pronounce. Wah. So nice
Regardless of which season of BOAN, Ms Karen Tan will always be my favorite narrator.
I fully fully agree with u. She's is CLEAR n DETAILED in her narations. Keep it up, KAREN TAN. One of ur many many STAUNCHES SUPPORTERS !!!¡!!!!
Her voice sounds like Michelle Yeoh’s

I used to prepare chicken gravy in tomato for my colleagues in the office which was super appreciated. They used to crave for it.
i really salute hawkers because it's a lot of hard work on their feet the whole day for very little profits :(

on 16min 30sec. "to call it a Malay curry puff is just disrespectful" .
Why and how so? I don't get it.

They sell Curry Puffs/Karipap กะหรี่ปั๊บ in Thailand, don't know if it's Singaporean, Malaysian origin or if we have our own version.

That's Arabic food, and there are many variations. Hope you find the nostalgic one!
Falafel isn't Indian 😅 But it's definitely delicious and I hope you find the nostalgic taste again!
Maybe you're referring to dhal vadai. they resemble falafel in texture & taste
Think it's masala vadai very rich in proteins
Nice
I know all the foods cause I ate them all.

Nasi Ulam is an Indonesian dish it has nothing to do with Malay just like most other Indonesian dishes that neighboring countries love to claim
Hmm F&B is very tricky and expansion too fast its pretty challenging both financially and manpower
