Timmy (TIIIIMMMMMAAAAYYYYYYY) has gotten to big for his shallow tank so we have upgraded him to a 3ft aquarium / aqua terrarium / paludarium. He shares his tank with fish as well. Golden White Cloud Mountain Minnows. I wanted for a simple planted aquascape in this one to allow easy aquarium maintenance later down the road. Timmy really seems to love it and it makes a great feature of the Studio 😊

Loved the video. Since we are thinking about getting a turtle. After having fishes, frogs and a chameleon it just made sense. We thought about holding them in a group of 3 is that ok ?

I don’t know that I would want to keep turtles, but this is by far, my favorite setup you’ve done thus far, MD. I will have to build one inspired by this one when I have the room for it. Awesome work!
We have an eastern musk turtle thanks to MD. My husband fell in love with Timmy and we had to get one!

@@trolxturd6136 , I really don't make a point of "playing" with him. He bit my oldest daughter once but she made the mistake of putting her fingers in to try to feed him by hand, they don't see so well. Ours swims into my husband's hands to get his shell brushed. He is about a year old and we have only had one bite in that time.
Say as good idea 💡 that's is I think people enjoy watching them eating in a tank like natural habitat
Here's a tip for turtle keepers: Try takin out your turtles in a separate container when it's feeding time. My RESs used to poop only when eating and removing them from the tank helped in keeping the tank clean for a longer period of time. Don't know if it's the same with other turtles.

@Samuel Tintisan Funny though, I used to do this when I was in school, hardly took a few minutes. And my turtles used to eat a lot, indicating the absence of stress.
Lol I do and they still shit in their normal tank. But they’re fucking adorable so I live with it.

Timmy is either the luckiest or unlikiest turtle in the world depending if he likes moving house or not 😂 i think hes had more scapes than any other turtle in the world. Great build as usual
how do these builds not get destroyed by timmy? i have 2 musk turtles that will absolutely obliterate any plants i put in there and move all the hardscape around until i eventually give up and just let them have it like they want it 😂
I just did a 55g scape for my adult Razorback musk turtles and used hardy Epiphytes like windelov ferns, Anubias varieties etc. you can glue them to stuff so there’s no worrying about things like the turtles digging them up. They have tough leaves that withstand kicks and stuff from the turtles. we put them in right after setting it up and the very first thing one of them did was trample a freshly placed windelov fern and after he walked a way it looked as good as it did before he did it. As for moving stuff around you just have to either secure it properly like we glued it all down, but at the same time it’s all placed with making everything naturally puzzle together, making sure there weren’t any areas that they’d want to go but couldn’t fit forcing them to push stuff around.

I have a Timmy.🥰 He will get up at least a few times a week for a few hours to bask. Surprises me when he does.

This inspired me to try to make a tank like this for my turtle, he was recently given to us from a relative who can’t keep him anymore. While I was already gonna get a bigger tank for him I want to make something similar to this now

Both my turtle died yesterday. It was bcs of the feeder fish that i bought i think. They had black spots on them. I really miss them both. This is very soothing for me. Thank you

i’d raise the water to the top, or at least 3/4. a lot of people think they are bad swimmers but ive also got a musk and he does very well in deep water. just gradually raise it over time to build muscle. he is 2 years old too so he’s able to handle deeper water. just make sure you’ve got rocks/plants heading to the surface like you’ve got going right now!! but i love the tank

I've got 2 large yellow bellied sliders, had them since hatchlings. I wish I could create a setup like this, but they eat everything, live plants, fake plants. They eat and chew on everything. The tank is so bland and this is the sort of set up I'd love to have for them. Great work man, looks amazing!

you can take a powerhead and use that to prime canister filters if you dont want a mouth of water. all you have to do is plug in the powerhead and put the out put up the the intake of the canister. priming the canister with a powerhead also makes the process of getting air out of the canister faster as well

This is beautiful. My poor red eared slider has nothing in his tank right now. Everything gets slimy so quickly, I don't know how to keep it clean. My husband doesn't want sand. And my turtle eats all the plants I put in. I really need help! My 5 month old loves our turtle. I want to make a better home for our turtle mr. gary ❤

I'd love to do this with my Musk turtles. I've got 2 that are about 5y old now and roughly 3 times as big as Timmy, and they love nothing better then to uproot all my plants and bite off large chunks, which then clog the filter pretty much daily... So I've given up on having live plants in there.

yeah, absolutely love turtles, ours is 15 years old and just a tad bigger ;) gotte be careful when they're bigger though, they love to climb and go exploring even if they can't climb well. Ours got away one time because our setup was just a tiny bit too close to the edge.

That is an outstanding turtle tank. My musk turtle is about 10 years old now. I really need to change up the tank. Would love something like this but it’s clearly quite expensive

I can promise you that mud and musk turtles do not require UVB to synthesize vitamin D2 into D3. Other than that I think Timmy is going to have a growth spurt now that ya got him set up in that bad azz display. I have 4 mini musk turtles that are 15yrs old and still going strong, and still breed and lay eggs although the fertility rate has fallen the past few years.
If i could be a turtle I'd love to live here!
