I'm hugely proud of this turtle aquarium and how it turned out. I love how that last rock ties everything together. First its like "nah, leave it out!" but once its in the tank everything looks even better. Great simple scape!
A heads up keep an eye on that temperature, I use that exact bulb with bearded dragons hitting 40°C in their basking spots. The rock will heat up and that spot might get hotter, and no other land area to move onto to bask in cooler temps.
Love little Timmy! I have a tiny musk named Bowser and let me tell you, every day I am convinced I've lost him - he hides so well! Every time you do a turtle scape it inspires me to redo my tank. First the pond style, now this. Keep it coming - love your scapes!
Finally timmey is got his own mansion . Sometimes I wish I was one of your pets .especially Vladimir , cause he has such a big tank . Anyways good video.
I really like what you did to Timmy 's new tank. I'm a less is more kind of woman. The sheer panic of you searching for Timmy truly shows your love for him. ❤❤❤
I'd say there is a little design flaw in this tank in that the only part above water is covered by the basking light, so he can't be on land and vary the temperature.
They don't really need to do that. They bask to warm up, and when hot enough they go back into the water where they can cool down. I am sure the light gets turned off at night too.. so he could come out at night and cool down also. This species of turtle rarely every basks anyway and technically does not need a dry land area.
Yeah thats understandable. As he said in the video though, Musk turtles like Timmy don't really use the basking spot. I know from experience as well, I had a Musk turtle for many years and in all the time I had him I only saw him use it maybe 10 times.
I already have 3 happy, green, naturally planted tanks. I was inspired and did quite a bit of research. I have a 20 gallon long in storage and....im totally getting an easter musk turtle. A 20 long is plenty of space even for life! I'll make some modifications to the tank. Take the top off to create open air. This will work nicely.
EVERY single time I hold my musk turtle he tries to bite me!! I'm very nice to him, but he's meen to me. If you want to get a turtle make sure he's nice and won't bite you, otherwise my turtle is sooo cute:)
Thank you for sharing this video. Not having a good time at all just lately but your video and Timmy has made my weekend. You have done him proud with his 'new' home. I never knew that turtles could be so much fun. Can't wait to see more of him in the future 👍😁👍Take care my friend 👍😷👌
Binge watching your videos for the past few hours (each video is like 20mins+) but I’m enjoying this. There’s so much to learn from you and love your soothing voice. 😊💕
Be careful with that bulb. First of all, a MVB bulb like this one should ALWAYS be mounted vertically to ensure the integrity of the bulb. Placing them at an angle greatly increases the risk of them breaking (which would be VERY bad for your turtle). Secondly they produce a LOT of UVB, like desert levels. This means that for the correct amount for a musk turtle, you'd have to place it at least 50cm from the heat spot, if not more. Just watching the temperature of the rock isn't enough, you need to take the amount of UV light produced at specific distances into account as well.
You not wrong mate, the plant on the outside really does set off the tank beautifully. That little legend with his head shining under the lights and timmy looking good too haha
Thank you MD for putting out such great videos so frequently - it just makes my day! Love this build - so simple but so classy! But please get Timmy a friend to share such spacious & luxurious digs!😀
Fank goodness you found him! I think having free or four rocks in there make it nice and cohesive. I personally would have added something else for more hiding/sleeping places but I'm sure he is absolutely frilled to have a new tank!
OMG I’m so glad I watched this video AFTER visiting aquatic shop earlier, I was staring at the musk turtles there... Must make more Timmy videos!! What happened to his endler friend??
I think that when it comes to habitat building, simplicity while still keeping in mind the needs of the animal is the most important. Her youve clearly given him space to move around thats also easy to clean while still providing a basking spot.
I've been waiting for this vid and it was all I hoped it would be. You should get some nightcrawlers from a pet store and feed some to Timmy, my musk turtle loves them, its good enrichment for them to fight live prey once in a while. I'm sure everyone would love a live feeding vid with Timmy too.
I must say you inspired me to aquascape and with this it truly brought a smile to my face, always impressed by your vid's, keep up the good work. Happy fish and reptile keeping :)
I have a baby slider, and I've been told by more than one person that I can't even have sand. =( So I have to go bare bottom with river rocks, but I love the ideas here with the larger rocks for basking. I can resource large and smaller (pea sized+) rocks from my local rivers (legally) for my turtle tank, so I can do something similar. Again, you've inspired me! If only I had hundreds of dollars of rocks nd plants laying around, lol.
Very nice setup!! I would give Timmy another turtle friend, space enough in that tank !! And Maybe add a small piece off driftwood to help him getting to his basking spot
I've just started getting stuff for my tank as like to do this as a hobby as never done this before, and I'm really excited about getting fish And enjoy your videos as watch 6 so far , thanks for yr ideas

What type of turtle is Timmy? I’ve forgot.
You should get Timmy a little girlfriend for christmas
It's really beautiful and effective! LOVED it!
But more turtle friends for timmy he feels lonely
Where is Eddy the endler?
I love how that last rock ties everything together. First its like "nah, leave it out!" but once its in the tank everything looks even better. Great simple scape!

Another day another "episode"! Timmeeeeh will truly enjoy the new setup that we can see in the intro, look at all that space!
Timmy trying to hibernate.
MD: HEY TIMMY WAKE UP!, do you want to build a snowman!?
The funniest part of this is that this is totally something MD would do
I don't know which species that is, but most water turtle species sold as pets don't hibernate...
Just putting this out there....I love frozen....and Frozen 2 is possibly better than Frozen 1?? Agree or disagree??
Frozen 2 actually had context. Just saying
@@MDFishTanks frozen 2 had better songs to
I do always admire the artistry with rocks and plants in these setups.

Timmy saved enough money to buy new penthouse 😁
The panic in your voice when you thought Timmy jumped out is so fatherly 🥺❤️

New tank for Timmy looks great! Although he looks lost in such a huge tank- maybe he needs a friend.
I love the dappled light in the beta sorority tank. So relaxing looking.

@@jase123111 can I ask what type of turtle this is o cant hear what he calls it in the video.
@@brandon6659 It's a common musk turtle, sometimes called the "stinkpot".
Yeah thats understandable. As he said in the video though, Musk turtles like Timmy don't really use the basking spot. I know from experience as well, I had a Musk turtle for many years and in all the time I had him I only saw him use it maybe 10 times.

You brought it all together so well! Timmy looks so cute swimming up with his little fins

Timmy is so cute. I also like putting plants around my tanks.
Great simple scape. Since they destroy everything, are strong as hell and are super messy! 😃
Nice Aquascape idea, it's simple and sober.
