Many years ago I bred Siamese fighting fish in North Queensland Australia. I kept the babies together and moved them into a 3ft tank to continue growing. All fry, male and female, grew to adults in that tank and it looked fabulous. That was in the 1970's. Love learning so much from you guys. Have started loving fish keeping again.
I have watched hundreds of md’s aquascaping videos and this aquascape is the masterpiece among all. Absolutely stunning. No words to describe the beauty of this aquatic garden. The red plants in the middle with green plants looks fantastic.❤❤
@@thewatcher720 Messy = Driftwood, large rocks , smaller rocks w/ various Anubias & Buce , scatter gravel ( for that really messy appearance courtesy of two great guys heavy planting here, there and there!!!!
It makes me smile whenever that delighted little boy giggle pops out when you're doing something that you're extra excited about! It shows your genuine enthusiasm for what you're doing 🙂
For sure, this is your most beautiful tank so far. I’ve been watching you for years now and am constantly impressed. Keep up the great work and never lose that level of curiosity. Thank you so much.
Hi, nic from Oz here, enjoying ur videos... I had 8 female bettas with 2 males in a 4ft tank, planted not quite as fully as ur sorority tank... twas a community amazon based set up, the males established territories & clashed infrequently & half heartedly... the girls roamed the tank, no trouble 2 anyone else. I separated them 4 selective & successful breeding, coz in community tank bubble nest was being broken & robbed. B well y’all!
The females look pretty stressed still. Those stripes usually indicate stress and their clamped tails. They will take a while to settle in, regardless. The tank is gorgeous 🤩 I'd be interested to see how the females are doing in s few weeks. I had planted sorority tank with 12 females for years. A bit fiddley at first but once they established themselves they did great.
Wow!! This aquarium almost looks endless because of the vegetation. Especially when you look towards the back. It's like it disappears to a vast lake filled with vegetation where all the fish can swim. Amazing!!
You should buy a little utility cart on wheels so you have everything you need at arms length. Will let you walk around without tripping over things and will help without bending down so much. Love your videos and I can’t wait for the rest of the new studio!
Really love the look of this tank. Would like to see how the sorority works long term. I appreciate when someone like yourself pushes the boundary as you have the ability to change course if something goes south. Also, consider a simple inline CO2 reactor if you don't like the fizzy sprite look.
I started aqua scraping after seeming one of your videos and since have watched many. This is by far my favorite tank on UA-cam. I really like Berta fish and I have 13 betta fish all in planted tanks. You have made my dream tank, great job!
This tank is absolutely gorgeous, been loving your videos lately and always look forward to your uploads! Each time I watch any one of your videos it leaves me itching to achieve a tank with even a fraction of the planting action you've got going on, I love the look! I've also learned so much information about the hobby from your videos and I appreciate it immensely!
I've wondered the same thing about what the male to female betta ratio would be. I'd imagine with dense stocking of plants and maybe 10-15 females for every male with plenty of dither fish shooooould be doable. Absolutely LOVE this tank by the way!
Love the tank guys, looks amazing. I've kept 5 males with about 20 females in a 4ft high hexagonal tank with plenty of plant cover with no issues. Seeing this tank is making me want to setup another Betta tank.
I have a betta sorority! They are very intelligent fish with an advanced social order. Im going to start my first large Harem tank very soon! Ive heard that the actual have better success rates than all female betta sororities. My fish are very happy and do well living together. They have actually grown bonded to each other and I have even caught my two most dominant girls cuddling together. I love bettas so much! I cant go into ANY fish store without leaving with at least one betta that has been there the longest. It makes me so happy to see you doing a sorority. It's sad that the common misconception is that they are solitary, but my girls actually are so happy to have each other. They really are social, theyre just very socially advanced, so naturally, like humans, they have different personalities and occasional spats.
This might be your most beautiful tank yet, the vibrant red really pops with the deep dark greens. The cardinals give a nice pop of added colour as well.
I have a 350 litre sorority tank, 60% planted with ditherfirsh and around 11 female bettas AND A SINGLE MALE from the same hatch as the females, i got them quite young and the male looked exactly like a female and had lived with the girls the whole time, only about two weeks ago did his veil develop fully and i could see it wasn't a female! so far it's gone very well, no injuries or deaths and plenty of spaces for the girls to hide! i worry the females will eventually grow tired of him and gang up on him as i've experienced that in the past, but it's been running smooth for 2 months with no issues!
This looks amazing and I love the new studio. You are the reason that I have gone from one Cichlid tank to 10 Planted tanks. Thank you and keep up the great work.
Kevin Davies. The new studio is looking amazing and the female Siamese fighter fish and the Plants are looking amazing. I've managed to find the CO'2 kit you are using on Amazon so i will buying one for my new tank. The Plants with that C0'2 kit you're using the Plants look fabulous 👌. You have encourage me to try this myself.
I think I've watched the majority of your videos and this tank has to be your masterpiece. Just the volume of plants alone is stunning, let alone the fish! Damn fine work, sir!
Been new to breeding Betta's I am so jealous of your new tank. Love the content and great to see Matt. I do enjoy the mix of you doing tanks on your own with the added times you and Matt work together. You are the person who got me into the whole aquatic scene. I wanted to make 1 Aquarium for my wife as a memorial to her parent's, I watched 1 of your videos, done her tank and that was the start of my obsession.
This is the second fish scaping video ive seen of yours. I absolutely love that you use a proper nutrient bottom for the plants. I love the way you scape, i love how you use natural plants, proper eco system for fish tanks, great environment for your fish which are beautiful. Last of all i love the energy and giggles, my favourite channel by far now ❤❤❤❤
This tank is absolutely gorgeous! Those pops of red really make it, and the little shoaling fish’ colors really compliment the colors of the tank. I love it!
"You need a salt shaker" xD So enjoyable watching you 2 doing tanks! Looks like you have the most of fun when you are doing it! and it is so interesting listening how you do your scapes! Keep it going!
Stunning scape as usual, also a great start in this new supernice studio. 👌On top of all this we have the amazing chemistry between you and Matt, love it! 😂👍
I used to have a sorority, and people would lose their minds over it. Apparently since THEY didn't manage to make it work, mine was destined for failure. I just didn't give any unique/single decorations for them to get territorial over, and kept my stocking numbers relatively high, much like many people do with cichlids. Then they didn't have a pecking order, and nobody was targeted. Worked fine for years, until I moved, and sold them all. :)
Mate, I've not been on UA-cam watching aquascaping in such a long time!! I remember when your next big move was making a fish room/shed in the back garden!! Now look!!
I’ve looked at those CO2 reactors before. I haven’t had a co2 tank yet and I’m looking forward to your thoughts on that kit when it’s time for an update on this beautiful tank. Amazing job!
This is my favourite tank you have done, it’s just amazing. I think you should explore the Co2 more, I can’t recommend it enough, I’ve used it for 2 years after your videos got me hooked on planted tanks. I use Co2 fire extinguishers and I change mine once every 4-5 months so it’s really not an inconvenience. I would recommend you getting a Co2 drop checker to monitor your co2 levels so not to harm any fish. Fantastic job and congratulations on the new studio 👍
i had two females and a male together, they were cool together. they didn't breed while i had a filter going, as there was no surface tension. But our power went out for a few days, and then they made babies... and i got to learn how to rear fry! tiny male betas are the cutest things, they look like the big ones, just the size of a dime
Love the tank! It’s an inspiration for my next project! I breed bettas and wanted to let you know to be careful with your females, they seem to have stress stripes (horizontal stripes) if they stay stressed too long, they may end up with dropsy. The tank looks great though! Love it!
Everyone thinks bettas are easy to keep but they are sensitive fish with big and different personalities, miss my betta 😔 I hope to get another one day. I keep learning
This tank turned our so amazing. I know betta sororities can be ~controversial~ but nice seeing one planted so wonderfully lush. Hopefully the girls will be happy and thrive.
Holy crap, this tank looks amazing! You have always gotten really good color in your plants, but I am blown away by the colors in this tank! That CO2 reactor seems like a really good idea. I have always been the same way, I just don’t want to fuss with refilling the tanks etc. Now I’m really rethinking my no CO2 stance. I haven’t paid much attention but I think that there is also some kind of in-line CO2 set up so you don’t see all those bubbles. Also I think you should get a couple of really cushy armchairs with wheels. Beautiful beautiful tank!
I love the look of the little small school just hangin out right up front, so pretty! I mean the entire thing is fabulous, but that little cloud of color just does it for me.
All the jokes and side comments are hilarious! It always looks like you truly enjoy what you do. And that is one of the reasons why I keep coming back to your vid. Great stuff, keep up the great work and thank you for great contents!
You should do a lo-fi of this tank. It’s amazing to watch, put on some chill music - it introduces the concept of betta sororities to people the right way, while also appealing to a different audience that may also like this sort of thing, I dunno, just seems like a cool idea :D
Wow wow and WOW!!! It’s been a delight to see you come so far and I’m sure the journey will keep evolving It’s also been great seeing your friendship develop with Matthew Shout out to the Wifey too 🥂🍾🥂 Cheers from Oz ❤🇦🇺🐟🇬🇧❤️
First time stumbling upon your chanel but im loving the way you guys are interacting with each other and i absolutely love the tank! Thanks for the great content.
Congratulations from the bottom of my heart, any person that evolved a pasión into something larger than expected has My admiration... In an upside down world youre an example to us all, way to go lad, way to go... 👍👍👍👍👏👏👏👏
No such thing as too many plants! 😂 I really enjoyed this. Thanks. It makes me wish I had a friend that enjoys it too, to decorate tanks together, it looks fun.
I had to go back and double check, but I saw 2 rogue rummynose tetra in there. They are so pretty. Such an amazing tank build. I wish I had alllll the plants. 🤩💚
At 36:41 you said you dont like the co2 mist that you are getting. To get rid of that you could and in my opinion you should get a co2 reactor. That will remove the mist and it will dissolve the co2 better than just a normal diffusor in that size of thank. Also the scape looks absolutley amazing 🤩 I must say this is one of the coolest scapes I have ever seen can’t wait for the plants to go grow in even more, we need to get more updates on this tank in the future it is so cool
That's really a beautiful tank, I just don't think putting bettas in such a big community doesn't work good for them. Alot of them are stressed, you can notice it thru the strips on their body, knowing that's 6 days since you put them and alot of them can't still adjust in the environment. I just hope they can survive.
That is awesome, I have seen several people do 4-5 males in a tank. Keys to success seem to be minimum 3 or 4 females per male, and lots of areas high in the water column that are visually separated. So I would think once your stems get tall 2-4 boys would get along just fine in there as long as you don't move stuff around on them to much.
Be nice to see regular updates on this tank... Always been interested in the Betta sorority so seeing this is amazing... Love their different colours and characteristics, we deffo need an update on the white Betta. Are you going to name them all? I think they deserve some names 😉
Those blue and red thin fish match the tank sooo well!! they are the star of the show even tho you dont think so ^^ love the light green and red!! Just WOW
Neons. I think there are too many of them, they dominate the tank. There's two ways to run your tank, 1) the fish are primarily decorations, like wallpaper or 2) the fish are pets, like animals in a zoo. The latter way is surprisingly more enjoyable once you try it. You'll watch an empty space and suddenly oe of them will comne into view doing something interesting.
I really enjoyed your video guys! Excellent tank! So beautiful! I have had tanks for 47 years! Getting to the age I can't reach down into the big tanks as well, so I have small planted tanks, which I still can make beautiful as well! Love your sense of humors! :)
MD, always been amazed at what you've been able to grow without co2. You'll be trimming like a mad man with it! That said, on the normal bottle front you can just bulk buy old c02 fire extinguishers, and when they run out switch over. Don't know the spec on this Colombo regulator but hopefully it's a dual stage one.
Absolutely beautiful setup MD. Your tanks just keep getting better and better. If the bubbles are bothering you, then you should try a co2 reactor(not to be confused with the cylinder you have) instead of a ceramic disk defuser. That should take care of the bubbles. Keep up the great work.
If you don’t like the bubbly look, you can get an inline CO2 reactor to pre-dissolve the bubbles before they reach the tank. It’s confusing because the word “reactor” usually just describes a container that you hook up to your canister filter output line that mixes water with CO2. It will fully dissolve the bubbles and you won’t see them anymore!
how did this go over time? Ive had a few relatively successful sororities over the years and have only had success with siblings ive raised, or in tanks that were absolutely choked with guppy grass.
i have been breeding betta;s for many years as a hobby and also for sale. i can tell you that most likely the females will in the end be fine with him, but their may be some females that you will need to remove due to aggression
thanks for the feedback James. It's great to hear from someone who has them in high numbers. I'll definitely be watching everything closely. So far so good though...
betta sororities are very unethical, bettas have been bred for literally fighting, they are very territorial and aggressive. Even if you don't see the aggression, the females can be forced into submissiveness by another female. That leads them to being constantly under stress, even if you can't see stress stripes don't assume all is well, It's harder to see stress stripes on certain colors. After being under excessive stress for long periods of time it leads their immune system to weaken, making them more prone to diseases. Then there's fighting, the females will attack each other leading to death at times. There is no need to put fish in danger to have a beautiful tank with flashy fish...
@@zushtoyet they work constantly… the only time I’ve never seen a female betta sorority work is when it’s done wrong.. but think what you want. I’m guessing you are one of those people that have something bad to say about every tank you see that isn’t yours. But to each their own
You've got a fantastic local fish shop, love the set-up, love the studio. Thanks for sharing 👍👍 you can put a reaction chamber to get your CO2 mixed better and have less bubbles
I love the scape, its one of your best... However... I dont want to sound critical but quite of few of the bettas have clamped fins which isnt good and serious stress stripes which usually always leads illness if not dealt with 😕 i think it really really needs to be stated that this definately is NOT something most people should try and recreate, especially beginners, it can be very detrimental to the fish, i know it looks appealing but its very rare that these are are successful, obviously i hope this is a success, but, its certainly risky, best of luck with it though! 🙏
hi Rachel, the fish are juveniles and apparently always show stripes at this stage. That is what I was told anyway. I've been watching for fighting but not seen any so far. If I do, I will reduce the numbers.
@MD Fish Tanks thats good news then! its still early days I guess and probably still settling. Sorry I wasn't trying to offend, I just always feel like bettas have a lot of misinformation about them in the hobby and often times aren't kept in optimal conditions and whilst you have the space and time and resources to test this out in a safe manner a lot of people don't but will try it anyway. But like i say it will be great to see if it works, and fingers crossed it does. 😀
Mister MD, the new betta tank is just a beautiful masterpiece. I really love it. I’ve been watching your channel for a quite awhile and enjoining every video you post, especially when you invite Matt to participate in your endeavors. You two are just such a dynamic duo. Congrats on your new studio and looking forward for more new builds. Best of luck.

Thanks for all the info Shay. Your bettas sound so nice. White body and red fins!
The joyful banter between MD and Fish Shop Matt is worth the price of admission alone. Another great video.
I have watched hundreds of md’s aquascaping videos and this aquascape is the masterpiece among all. Absolutely stunning. No words to describe the beauty of this aquatic garden. The red plants in the middle with green plants looks fantastic.❤❤
A massive amount of mature plants under a Chihiros was always going to look good. It's basically a messy Dutch scape.
Love your videos and I can’t wait for the rest of the new studio!
got it :) all in the new studio now.
A whole 50mins of elite vibes & great scapes - what more could anyone want after finishing work! Another banger guys!
I didn't even notice it being 50minutes, felt like 20 :0
This tank is absolutely gorgeous, been loving your videos lately and always look forward to your uploads!
It's amazing to see how the studio has gone from practically empty to what what it is in your most recent video. Your builds are art... living art.
Love the tank guys, looks amazing. I've kept 5 males with about 20 females in a 4ft high hexagonal tank with plenty of plant cover with no issues. Seeing this tank is making me want to setup another Betta tank.
Its amazing how all of your plants are so vibrant and full of colour! That magenta plant surprised me!
Lol
I love it!
I am loving the natural plant movement in fish keeping. Its just gorgeous! It appeals to the gardner and fish keeper. ❤
In my opinion, this is the best 4 feet tank you've ever built
I love this so much I would pay to even see it
Same
I have a betta sorority tank, I will be adding 1,678,965 more plants 😂 You guys did an amazing job, and it turned out gorge! Well done!!!!
"You need a salt shaker" xD So enjoyable watching you 2 doing tanks! Looks like you have the most of fun when you are doing it! and it is so interesting listening how you do your scapes! Keep it going!
Perfect ratio of red and green, and they blend together so nicely! Best scape of all time! Well done MD!
Stunning scape as usual, also a great start in this new supernice studio. 👌On top of all this we have the amazing chemistry between you and Matt, love it! 😂👍
This video is so wholesome and good vibes. You two having so much fun just giggling and joking around. Thanks
I love Matt lol. A minute in and BOOM there's the man. MD is loved too ofc! Can't leave out OG.
That’s an absolute amazing scape you guys have made! Great combo, Matt with the fish knowledge etc and MD with the vision etc.
That the most IMPRESSIVE,NATURAL PLANTED TANK I HAVE EVER SEEN AND IVE SEEN QUITE A FEW.
GREAT JOB BRITS!!!!!
It's definitely an experiment tank. Fingers crossed. Scape and planting looks awesome.
like watching dog or rooster fights.
Same 👍
Are they a need for a tank with plants?.sorry I’m new to it.
@@slrjona6755 not all plants varity but yeah some of them needs eat
This is my favourite tank you have done, it’s just amazing.
I think you should explore the Co2 more, I can’t recommend it enough, I’ve used it for 2 years after your videos got me hooked on planted tanks. I use Co2 fire extinguishers and I change mine once every 4-5 months so it’s really not an inconvenience. I would recommend you getting a Co2 drop checker to monitor your co2 levels so not to harm any fish. Fantastic job and congratulations on the new studio 👍
The new studio is basically like a nuclear bomb of new content! Loving it mate. Hoping that one day I can come and visit the studio.
i had two females and a male together, they were cool together. they didn't breed while i had a filter going, as there was no surface tension.
@@snapdragon2441bettas are not sensitive.. lol If you can’t keep a betta alive then you need to start doing more research on how to keep fish
This tank turned our so amazing. I know betta sororities can be ~controversial~ but nice seeing one planted so wonderfully lush. Hopefully the girls will be happy and thrive.
Beautifully done... really love how you developed this tank. I hope it works out well.
The friendship that has blossomed between him and Matt has been so lovely to watch
I love the look of the little small school just hangin out right up front, so pretty! I mean the entire thing is fabulous, but that little cloud of color just does it for me.
I think that that is your best tank yet. The occasional flashes of red are so striking.
This is without a doubt my favorite tank you have EVER done! Color is what I like in the plants and in the fish!!!
That tank is beautiful, one of my favourites, really enjoying the new studio and looking forward to all the new builds
All the jokes and side comments are hilarious! It always looks like you truly enjoy what you do. And that is one of the reasons why I keep coming back to your vid. Great stuff, keep up the great work and thank you for great contents!
Seriously Matt is exactly right if other people don't like it, "Back off!" 🤣🤣🤣
You should do a lo-fi of this tank. It’s amazing to watch, put on some chill music - it introduces the concept of betta sororities to people the right way, while also appealing to a different audience that may also like this sort of thing, I dunno, just seems like a cool idea :D
If you see this comment, I wish you a good day
Don't tell me what to do.
You too
Thanks

U too boss
Love seeing you two talk tanks together. Wow, that's a lot of alliteration! Beautiful set-up. 👍
Absolutely beautiful, I could sit and watch this aquarium for hours. Huge congratulations 🎊 👏🏻
That tank is stunning… the colours in the plants works so well! That added with the Beta’s wow!!!! Beta are my fav fish, so I’m all over it
AMAZING! This is one of the best scapes you've ever done. Of course all your scapes are great. This one though🤯🤩
Wow wow and WOW!!!
It’s been a delight to see you come so far and I’m sure the journey will keep evolving
It’s also been great seeing your friendship develop with Matthew
Shout out to the Wifey too 🥂🍾🥂

you guys should make tanks together more often... its good fun to watch.... also nice to see how you also re use your soils :D
First time stumbling upon your chanel but im loving the way you guys are interacting with each other and i absolutely love the tank! Thanks for the great content.
What a way to start my day...with MD and Matt!! Amazing work guys👏👏👏
Congratulations from the bottom of my heart, any person that evolved a pasión into something larger than expected has My admiration... In an upside down world youre an example to us all, way to go lad, way to go... 👍👍👍👍👏👏👏👏
Great video MD! Does anyone know about the convenient hose nozzle MD uses to fill the tanks? Is it something one could buy somewhere? Or is it DIY?
?
No such thing as too many plants! 😂 I really enjoyed this. Thanks. It makes me wish I had a friend that enjoys it too, to decorate tanks together, it looks fun.
I had to go back and double check, but I saw 2 rogue rummynose tetra in there. They are so pretty. Such an amazing tank build. I wish I had alllll the plants. 🤩💚
Beta tank is stunning. Your collaboration with Matt is great MD. The new studio is amazing!!! 👍👍👍
Hi, not sure if you have mentioned this before in any uploads. Where do you get the Rio Xingo ( not sure if correct😂) gravel from?!
A quality video MD. Really enjoyed it and what a beautiful tank setup . Very interested to see how you rate that CO2 system also.
A tank that big without a top for fish that are notorious for jumping and escaping is wild 😂
After the morning I've had, i really appreciate the length of this. De-stressing Time 😊☕
I agree with Matt. I think this is my favorite aquascape I've seen you make. Great work! Love watching your videos for inspiration.
22mins in and it looks AMAZING MD and FishShopMatt 😍😍😍
I haven’t clicked this fast for a video in a hot second. Beta sorority’s just fascinate me so much!
I really enjoyed your video guys! Excellent tank! So beautiful! I have had tanks for 47 years! Getting to the age I can't reach down into the big tanks as well, so I have small planted tanks, which I still can make beautiful as well! Love your sense of humors! :)
My anxiety as you stood there chatting with fish just sat in the net (!)
I could sit and watch a tank like that all day, and nothing would get done. LOL Very pretty.
Looks like lots of stressed female bettas in that tank. If love to see an update once they've all settled 🙂
Definitely concerned that there's still so many showing obvious signs of stress
It's not stress, they are younge females and just showing their baby colors
@@404EncrytedError that is definitely stress
MD, always been amazed at what you've been able to grow without co2. You'll be trimming like a mad man with it! That said, on the normal bottle front you can just bulk buy old c02 fire extinguishers, and when they run out switch over. Don't know the spec on this Colombo regulator but hopefully it's a dual stage one.
You can use a co2 reactor instead of diffuser if you don’t like the tiny bubbles floating everywhere.
I absolutely love your videos! Super knowledgeable but what keeps me is the bromance between you two! I love the way you guys bounce off each other.
Absolutely in love with your builds. Huge fan. would love to do some great aquascapes one day!
I have a 20 gal with 10 females and 1 male. They're all fine
Lots of vampire shrimp and cherries too. Happy tank, tons of plants.
Live your videos!
Thanks for this info as I also don’t like the “bubbly” look in tanks with it & is why I’ve never tried CO2. Will look into this now, thanks!!
how did this go over time? Ive had a few relatively successful sororities over the years and have only had success with siblings ive raised, or in tanks that were absolutely choked with guppy grass.
i have been breeding betta;s for many years as a hobby and also for sale. i can tell you that most likely the females will in the end be fine with him, but their may be some females that you will need to remove due to aggression
thanks for the feedback James. It's great to hear from someone who has them in high numbers. I'll definitely be watching everything closely. So far so good though...
This is definitely one of THE MOST BEAUTIFUL tanks I've ever seen. And I regularly watch tropictank & greenaqua.
I’ve been wanting a betta sorority tank, you and Matt gave me great ideas on how to achieve it … thank you 🙏🙏🙏
betta sororities are very unethical, bettas have been bred for literally fighting, they are very territorial and aggressive.
@@MDFishTanks Your experience and Matt's is obviously lacking. Please, isn't there enough abuse of bettas? Cringe worthy
@@REscapes fingers crossed? and a smiling emoji too? I need to stop watching this so called expert's videos.
