Managed to get it done with 30 minutes left on the tower, this has been a productive reset, thanks for the tips and Niuzao sure made it easier, beeing later in the expansion with more ilvls i opted not to use him in phase 1 because i got to phase 2 very fast with only 1 infernal and It wouldnt be ready until annihilate 5 or something, either way, rant over. This looks like a cake walk compared to prot warrior lol. Maybe I'll pick this one up just for the hell of it. I only really play windwalker so we'll see how it goes. I'm pretty sure you could use transcendence transfer to get back on the platform if you got hit with a smash as well.
Thanks for this guide! It's very helpful. I still can't beat this challenge though. I'm on 150 tries and starting to lose hope. I'm running into an issue where I dps too fast on p1 and I'm having to deal with way too many annihilates in p2 before niuzao comes off CD. And I suck at trying to not use him for p1, I find I'm struggling to survive through it without using it. Maybe I just need to get better at surviving/dpsing phase 1 without niuzao. If I delay dps I'll run into the same issue where survivability becomes a problem. Best I got was 2% and I thought I was going to punch a wall. Such a frustrating challenge.
i just tried about 50 attepmts for monk. best try is 2%. there are more than 10times about 5%-8%. just no luck. i just feel monk is too soft in phase two and niuzao always stay in green shit so its very hard for me to reach boss.i have done all other tanks（il910-920）. monk is the last for me but for sure its the most difficult one so far. perhaps because i have the leggo neck on other classes which make it super easy.
use taunt in phase2 when niuzao stands on green shit. Got it after 3 tries. Adding this tip would be a perfect guide. It will save ppl who have low il like me.anyway ty for ur guide
brewmaster monk self-healing is pretty weak compared to other tanks and thats why video recommended Niuzao to avoid eating too much annihilates in phase 2. For your il i think you can save Niuzao in sceond phase so that you can burn phase 1 quickly.If you cant handle phase 1 without Niuzao then i would say Dps slowly in phase 1 so that you can have your sceond Niuzao ready in phase 2. whenever ready in third annihilate coming off will be fine. And make sure you taunt boss out when Niuzao stands on green pool so you are able to dps the boss. Good Luck!
Hi! Question regarding Mystic Vitality. Between orbs and expel harm for emergencies, wouldn't MV actually be a viable choice to handle mind rends? Just curious. Great video!
The problem with Mystic Vitality is that Mind Rend doesn't actually do THAT much damage. It only seems like it does because of Variss' decay debuff that reduces your max health and the Nether Horrors' debuff that increases your damage taken from Mind Rend. Remember that your baseline magic stagger without buffs or Mystic Vitality is 16% magic damage to stagger. Also keep in mind that mystic vitality, like all defensives, is NOT additive, but multiplicative. so 40% additional stagger does not mean 56% magic stagger, but 22.4%. Even with Iron Skin Brew that number only goes up to 30.2% which may sound like a lot, but considering you're only taking around 1.3 - 1.4 million to the face with only baseline stagger, reducing that down to ~1-1.1 million to the face and the rest to stagger isn't that much of a difference. Also, if you feel the need to Iron Skin Brew to stagger out more Mind Rend damage, you can still do that without Mystic Vitality but with only 21.6% magic damage to stagger. So we're really only talking about either a 6% or 9% difference sent to stagger. Apologies if my math isn't 100% correct, this talent has been nerfed so many times that I can't even check myself against others since no one seems to use it much anymore. TL:DR Mystic Vitality is only recommending when taking insane bursts of magic damage. *deep breath* That being said, if you're struggling with handling the stacks from the Nether Horrors then *maybe* it might be worth taking. However, I personally found that collecting the adding together, using an orb to interrupt Variss and reset Nether Horror stacks was a better solution. Also healing elixirs just generally requires a whole lot less thought. At precisely 9:47 of the video you'll see I take a hit that sets me down to 24%, but because of healing elixirs, I immediately go right back to 49%. That's just one scenario where I didn't even notice I was in danger thanks to healing elixirs. Also, Mystic Vitality doesn't do much for phase 2 where most of the damage is physical. But if you disagree, then by all means try it out! It can't hurt. And who knows, maybe it will work out better for your particular play style. P.S. If you have the legendary waist then Mystic Vitality's viable does go up slightly, but I'd still recommend healing elixirs regardless. P.P.S sorry for the long winded response lol.

So... I get to Kruul too fast. My ilvl is 937 and I burn through Varis so quick that Niuzao isn't nearly off cooldown early enough and I still have little enough deeps to have to take three anihilates but I usually just die to psytalons anyway to I guess I'm just nubbin' it hard.
Not sure why people say this is easier than Prot Paladin. Aoe is so much easier on paladin, it seems like the radius of keg smash and breath of fire is so small vs consec/avenger shield/blessed hammer. You can interrupt in range as paladin, you dont need orbs as paladin coz you have so much healing. EVERYTHING is easier as paladin on this challenge. Also it seems like its very hard to dps the boss when niuzao is out, fel pool still hit me at max melee range if boss stands still on fel pools. But killed it anyway, thanks ,3
It pisses me off how easy you made this look... I can only barely manage to squeeze by Phase 1 without Niuzao, but if I use him in phase 1, there's 2 minutes left on the cooldown. Stalling isn't an option, because I just die. And even if I somehow manage to make it to phase 2, I just get overwhelmed by the puddles of shit on the floor, especially since I have to guide to stupid animal so he's not tanking the guy inside the puddle of shit. People who say Prot Paladin is harder than this are speaking bullshit. EDIT: Finally managed to pass this. At my ilvl with only 1 Leggo, I had to use at least 1 Purifying Brew for every single Mind Rend, and I had to stall for Niuzao until it had less than a minute left. I tanked the first annihilate. What stupid me didn't realize was that the puddles of shit were all in the middle BECAUSE OF ME! Not the little shit donkey. I had to always save at least one Chi Torpedo just to get out of those.
I got the prot paladin done by being 60 iLevel above the designed iLevel. I only have to deal with 1 Infernal, and didn't even run into any of the mechanics in phase 2.
This is me today lol. If I don't use niuzao on phase one, it drags a lot, and takes more than 3 minutes. If I use nizauo, I can burst him to 30% before adds come. Then I dance around and keep it clear of everything, slowly chipping away with only 4 stacks even up on me. I get into the next phase with 45~ left for niuzao to come up like in the video. Also, prolonging the first phase allows you to stack up healing orbs - I try to have 2 going into phase two. On one or two attempts I set it up like in the video. Kill adds, then varrus, then burst Kruul to about 23% before adds come. Then this is where shit gets hectic. LOL. About 6 attempts in I got him to 1% and I don't know how I staggered everything to get there. Have had a lot of 12%'s, some 6-8%s. I think I get tunnel vision and hope to burst him through orb stuns and then I don't have them when I need them, and adds build up. Less than 12 hours left to get this ! I thought Outlaw Agatha at 910 with only the ring legend was bad.
So I looked at your fighting log. It's telling you're getting quite a lot of healing through Leech. Where do you get that from? I can't actually survive this without using any brews or healing brews like you did...
Ripzone91 if you remember to use niuzao talent, your BM artifact ability (which causes them to miss melee attacks), your leg sweep, paralysis, fortifying brew or even Zen meditation when it gets tough, you'll be able to down it! Make sure you're using the healing orb from velen only when critical.
I just happened to have a piece of gear that had leech on it. I had 2% leech overall (551) as seen at 7:56. It's definitely a useful stat, but nothing worth grinding over. The main ways of keeping yourself up should be through healing elixir, Gift of the Ox, and Velen's orbs.
Alright, thought that you got more healing from somewhere else. I JUST did it. Hell...YES. My ilvl was 925 now instead of 911 as yesterday. Actually my ilvlt was about 895 on every item but 959 on my artifact weapon. Trinket are just the ones from shards without any extras und no leggos yesterday. Ring from Argus and tanking boots today. So I had quite better gear now and ended up getting in the Kruul phase more often. Some practice there and it worked out. Thanks for the guide and the REALLY helpful tipp to use Niuzao. That helped me a lot. During these about 80 challenge trys I actually learned how to play brewmaster in a very new and exciting way. Thanks Lulu for the tipp again, that my artifact ability makes them miss melee attacks. Helped me sometimes now :)
Is this strat still this easily done or did they nerf anything I should know about before trying this? EDIT: Done, still possible and easy as hell (Literally second try). I took the statue aswell to keep the adds busy and beat them up when I have time, it works perfectly.
I'm 927 BM and can not do enough DPS to through the first phase fast enough. I can survive for a decent amount of time, but after 3 infernals it just gets to be too much.
Make sure you're maximizing you up time on Variss. Every time your debuff stacks fall off, plan on getting back in on him. I will say that across all my attempts for all the tanks, 3 infernals was the average, so continuing to practice with that might be your best bet. Keep at it! Good luck!
Hey! Yeah I just got to 930 and also used the WoD heirloom trinket + Maxed my buffs and eventually got it. Thanks for the guide! I kept on doing bad cause I kept forgetting to use the Ox on CD in P2, ahah.
I must suck really bad 70 attempts and only got to final stated 6 times Then was to much shit to survive Maybe didn't help I don't have any tier set tank trinkets or tank leggos tho. When I did get kruul kept wiping on 17% dam that npc dos is crap
Ridmark Gaming pretty mich everything either really bad timing woth ataclobg mechanics like a few times o had had drain life and a smash all at same time. Phase 2 on the handful of times o got there netherstomp combined with woth the purples lines pushing me onto netherstomp
Remember with drain life, you don't have to interrupt it right away as dodging smashes takes priority. You also don't have to use your interrupt at all. Paralysis is ranged and works just as well to stop his cast. Also, you can hit him with Leg Sweep if you're standing right on the edge of the decay. With netherstomp, Chi Torpedo / Roll are your best friends and can get you out of the puddles as soon as they happen. They can also propel you straight through those purple lines as well. Hope this helps. Just keep at it!
This is obviously completeable, but holy fucking shit is it frustrating. I've already completed in on my paladin and didn't really have any troubles, but the fucking Niuzao bullshit is ridiculous. Twice, TWICE, have I summoned him and, Kruul has been taunted away only to target me for the annihilate. The second time I summoned Niuzao, he taunted, Kruul started casting on him, and then switched to me MIDCAST and killed me with the annihilate. What the fuck? Also, orbs are disappearing if not used within 30 or so seconds. Not something I noticed on my paladin. Is this working as intended?
Are you summoning Niuzao during Annihilate? If so, he'll still you even if Niuzao has aggro. He chooses the target at the beginning of the cast. Also, Annihilate works off proximity not threat. If you are standing closer to Kruul than Nizao at the START of his cast, it will be aimed at you. This is why he can even cast it on Kor'vas if she is closer. Also, yea the orbs have a set duration, however, I'm not quite sure what it is. I know on my warrior kill I had 2 orbs up at the end, so at least for that one it'd have to last for around a minute. Hope that helps!

Yea he does that on my kill as well; It's inevitable. But you can still do a large chunk of damage to him with just Keg Smash and Breath of Fire from just outside the pool.
i ended up getting it 2 attempts after watching this video... and it only took 2 because the first one i forgot to change my talent to niuzao before i went in lol. 2nd attempt went easy and i realized that i had a taunt to get him out of the pool. maybe 20-25 attempts total.
It just sucks he literally 1 shots you when you have 10 stacks......... every time there is nothing to do and im stuck with stacks and i try to dps him but he just 1 shtos over and over and when you do get to kruul you have no cooldowns left an you get 1 shot by him. monk is just too hard compared to demon hunter. demon hunter is just a fucking joke with the self heal and flying
I got this on my monk first week it came out... at 903 ilvl mind you... i didnt use nizou i used RJW and if you have to use all those buffs now and your 930 ish ilvl you are the reason people deplete keys.... brewmasters can do this so easily because if your smart with your transendance you can negate the mistake getting knocked off.... your guide is decent but its a bit late and the people your helping need to have more practice in the class
Marco scanu yeah I was server first for havoc challenge but unlike you I'm not a BM main, it's helpful for people like me who are doing the challenge on every single spec and may not know all the tricks to a class like someone who mains it does. Just saying.

So I had quite better gear now and ended up getting in the Kruul phase more often. Some practice there and it worked out. Thanks for the guide and the REALLY helpful tipp to use Niuzao. That helped me a lot. During these about 80 challenge trys I actually learned how to play brewmaster in a very new and exciting way.
Thanks Lulu for the tipp again, that my artifact ability makes them miss melee attacks. Helped me sometimes now :)
im 900 ilvl and gonna have to pass on this, the repair bills and nethershards are to expensive
Is this strat still this easily done or did they nerf anything I should know about before trying this?
EDIT: Done, still possible and easy as hell (Literally second try). I took the statue aswell to keep the adds busy and beat them up when I have time, it works perfectly.
As far as I'm aware, nothing has changed.

Is 904 enough to do the challenge?
I'm 927 BM and can not do enough DPS to through the first phase fast enough. I can survive for a decent amount of time, but after 3 infernals it just gets to be too much.
Make sure you're maximizing you up time on Variss. Every time your debuff stacks fall off, plan on getting back in on him. I will say that across all my attempts for all the tanks, 3 infernals was the average, so continuing to practice with that might be your best bet. Keep at it! Good luck!
Hey! Yeah I just got to 930 and also used the WoD heirloom trinket + Maxed my buffs and eventually got it. Thanks for the guide! I kept on doing bad cause I kept forgetting to use the Ox on CD in P2, ahah.

Maybe didn't help I don't have any tier set tank trinkets or tank leggos tho. When I did get kruul kept wiping on 17% dam that npc dos is crap
What's killing you most of the time?
Ridmark Gaming pretty mich everything either really bad timing woth ataclobg mechanics like a few times o had had drain life and a smash all at same time. Phase 2 on the handful of times o got there netherstomp combined with woth the purples lines pushing me onto netherstomp
Remember with drain life, you don't have to interrupt it right away as dodging smashes takes priority. You also don't have to use your interrupt at all. Paralysis is ranged and works just as well to stop his cast. Also, you can hit him with Leg Sweep if you're standing right on the edge of the decay. With netherstomp, Chi Torpedo / Roll are your best friends and can get you out of the puddles as soon as they happen. They can also propel you straight through those purple lines as well.

This is obviously completeable, but holy fucking shit is it frustrating. I've already completed in on my paladin and didn't really have any troubles, but the fucking Niuzao bullshit is ridiculous. Twice, TWICE, have I summoned him and, Kruul has been taunted away only to target me for the annihilate. The second time I summoned Niuzao, he taunted, Kruul started casting on him, and then switched to me MIDCAST and killed me with the annihilate. What the fuck?
Also, orbs are disappearing if not used within 30 or so seconds. Not something I noticed on my paladin. Is this working as intended?
Are you summoning Niuzao during Annihilate? If so, he'll still you even if Niuzao has aggro. He chooses the target at the beginning of the cast. Also, Annihilate works off proximity not threat. If you are standing closer to Kruul than Nizao at the START of his cast, it will be aimed at you. This is why he can even cast it on Kor'vas if she is closer.
Also, yea the orbs have a set duration, however, I'm not quite sure what it is. I know on my warrior kill I had 2 orbs up at the end, so at least for that one it'd have to last for around a minute.

edit: While Niuzao worked quite well tanking the annihilates and I thank you for the recommendation to use him here, I can say that I will personally never ever use that talent ever again. ^^
When i used my invoke niuzao he just tanked kruul inside the fel pool and i couldnt hit him
Yea he does that on my kill as well; It's inevitable. But you can still do a large chunk of damage to him with just Keg Smash and Breath of Fire from just outside the pool.
i ended up getting it 2 attempts after watching this video... and it only took 2 because the first one i forgot to change my talent to niuzao before i went in lol. 2nd attempt went easy and i realized that i had a taunt to get him out of the pool. maybe 20-25 attempts total.
I will never have this skin... and this makes me really sad to be honest...

It just sucks he literally 1 shots you when you have 10 stacks......... every time there is nothing to do and im stuck with stacks and i try to dps him but he just 1 shtos over and over and when you do get to kruul you have no cooldowns left an you get 1 shot by him. monk is just too hard compared to demon hunter. demon hunter is just a fucking joke with the self heal and flying

I got this on my monk first week it came out... at 903 ilvl mind you... i didnt use nizou i used RJW and if you have to use all those buffs now and your 930 ish ilvl you are the reason people deplete keys.... brewmasters can do this so easily because if your smart with your transendance you can negate the mistake getting knocked off.... your guide is decent but its a bit late and the people your helping need to have more practice in the class
Marco scanu yeah I was server first for havoc challenge but unlike you I'm not a BM main, it's helpful for people like me who are doing the challenge on every single spec and may not know all the tricks to a class like someone who mains it does. Just saying.
