    Love that you took the opportunity of your furnace breaking down to explain/show two different applications of heating with miners. Thank you

      Yeah...I figured I'd make the best of a not-so-great situation 🙂

      @@HBIM_Channel What miners are you running in these? If you don't want the model, maybe just let us know the total wattage? I am trying to determine the size of Brazed Plate Heat Exchanger I'll need compared to your set up. Thanks!

      I'd venture to guess they're pulling around 3kw (recent gen antminers)@@kaptain187

    I'm stunned by the dedication and ingenuity behind this mining setup. You seem like a very intelligent guy, and I wouldn't peg you for the type to jump into something if it wasn't worth it -- I must ask, in full knowledge that any response is not financial advice what are your thoughts on Bitcoin as an investment?

      Thanks for the compliment...and you ask a great question!
      The way I look at it...mining is one thing...owning/hodling Bitcoin is another.
      Mining is a tough business at any scale and, to be honest, is hard to be profitable at the home scale. In many ways, home mining is a project of passion and just fun to see what you can do with mining heat. To be very honest, I'm doing this more for a good, challenging home project than to try to turn a buck.
      Owning/hodling Bitcoin, like any investment, is all about risk and reward. Learning enough about bitcoin to be a confident investor/hodler has taken me many many hours (100+?)...and I'm still learning new things. The more I've learned about bitcoin and its place within larger financial world, the more confident I've become that the current risk/reward is unmatched by most all other assets. My two cents...not financial advice :-).
      Not sure if you're an old-school bitcoiner or starting your journey here...but in either case, the financial advice I WILL stand behind is to learn as much as you can about whatever you are investing in. If that is Bitcoin, there are a ton of books/podcasts/youtube videos/etc. out there. Its getting easier and easier to dive in and get started. If you're looking for suggestions of where to begin, just let me know!

      @@HBIM_Channel Thank you for the write up and I appreciate your candor. You're a generous man to offer up the knowledge and information you have to the public. Good luck with the future of the project and enjoy the next few months, should be interesting.

    Love the content! I can't wait to get mine setup. It's progressing well. You can check my updates over on the forum :) I'm hoping I'll have water flowing in 3-4 weeks. I'm mostly waiting on parts.
    Are you concerned about domestic water causing excessive buildup in the exchanger?

    • @HBIM_Channel
      @HBIM_Channel  10 місяців тому

      Yeah...your build is coming along great! ...waiting for hardware to come in is always a pain :-).
      In my part of the country, we really don't have too much trouble with high mineral content in our water...but its a valid concern...the heat exchangers have narrow passages and if you've got a lot of hard water it might be a problem long term.

      You're very lucky! I'm on a well and hard water is the name of the game I'm trying to keep "domestic water" as far away from my brazed plate exchangers as possible. @@HBIM_Channel
