    I understand this is a residential based instructional video, but most RTU's are commercial based with an economizer installed. You should release a video on economizer troubleshooting and operation as well.
    I appreciate your videos and instructional content. They are very well thought out and presented. I myself am a commercial/ industrial service technician, who enjoys watching and learning. You don't see many RTU's in a residential setting. Do you ever cover the more typical commercial equipment? Thanks for what you do for the trade. Helping younger techs become better more proficient individuals

    My name is Andrew. I just met you today and saw your presentation at the symposium. I wish you had more time to present but I got a lot of good information from it. Your presentation was the most relative to what I actually do on a daily basis. Thank you for being a dedicated HVAC teacher.

    A very helpful video. Fantastic. Some of the issues, like the weld seems on the heat exchanger or some of the rusting, could be avoided if the manufacturers changed their design just a bit.

    I'll watch later today. Did you mention not having a way to vent an old expansion tank? Pressure keeps relief valve off the furnace leaking.

    • @mackenziegray2090
      @mackenziegray2090 2 роки тому

      You mean expansion compression tank? The older styles, sometimes you have to isolate and drain them. Over time they will completely fill with water and have to drain them once in awhile.

    Sir, during a power outage, can I make heater on this unit working by using generator, just like on split system?

  • @MRR-qv3bw
    @MRR-qv3bw Рік тому

    The inducer motor runs even when the thermostat shuts off and the system itself isn't igniting. I had to cut the breaker off to stop it from running constantly! My unit is 3 years old and I really don't know what to do!

  • @BURNDAKU
    @BURNDAKU 9 місяців тому

    so you killed power ? but tested everything live ? or inducer fan and electrical still have voltage when disconnect is pulled ?

  • @mikem.2078
    @mikem.2078 2 роки тому

    My problem is that the furnace works, for only like 20 mins or so. It will shoot up to the temp I program on the wall thermostat (say 73F), reach that temp, shut off, and NOT come back on later so the apartment gets super cold, and never come back on. Now there is one trick -- at bottom of furnace is a large red button, I push that red button all the way in, and SOMEtimes the furnace will turn back on for another 20 mins, but sometimes not. On rare occasions the furnace will function for 3 or even 4 hours, but not often, and wouldn't you know it, it usually shuts off when I get in bed. Note: I already cleaned the furnace flame sensor one time with the brillo end of a dish pad, so that's probably ruled out. (Furnace brand is Williams, model 2509622).

    • @nsudatta-roy8154
      @nsudatta-roy8154 2 роки тому

      You may have a faulty sensor that is designed to open when a "condition" happens or not happening. The flame sensor is no exception. I haven't looked at your schematic, but consider looking at what other components are wired in series with your flame sensor.
      Edit: you may not wanna keep pressing that red button.

    Our gas valve seems to freeze. Very little gas output in the cold such that the burners do not ignite and they system cycles off

    Red light on board goes out when unit calls for heat. Comes on, Inducer motor tries to start, shuts right off. Keeps trying. Red light goes on and off during this. Any ideas? Bad transformer?

    A guy I use to work with called me about his furnace it would go through the sequence of operation fine but after glow plug no ignition . He said the glow plug has a white spot on the glower I told him he needed a new one. He tried to jump it out called me back said it sparked on him and he had to reset the breaker, now his inducer comes on for a short time like a minute then stops and the fan come on.
    Any idea what he may have messed up, I'm thinking the pressure switch is acting up

    • @Alex-jo2oi
      @Alex-jo2oi Рік тому

      Easy way to test pressure switch is putting meter leads on both terminals of the switch. And taking the tubing to your mouth and pulling in like you would a straw. It’ll close the contacts and if it’s malfunctioning it won’t close contacts.
