First off, thank you, this is the best tutorial I have found for this, you have gotten me closer to success than anyone else. I am trying to convert a dress that was made for a custom character, she is a bit cartoony, so I wanted to make it fit her, so the textures won't be stretched out, but even when I uncheck morph targets, and use Reverse Sourse Shape from Target, it acts as if there is a vacuum under her breasts, and deforms the mesh, stretching it, and twisting it in ways that spandex could not even imagine. Do you (or anyone) have any ideas on how to transfer the bones, without it deforming the mesh? It is bad enough that it is stretching the dress, but it is also mangling the ribbon to no end.
Oh my God it's SickleYield it's so awesome that I stumbled on this! You have some of the best stuff on Daz ...sure I've been trying to learn to make and sell my own G-8.1(female) characters? can you do a tutorial on that how to make and sell Genesis 8.1 I think you're supposed to save everything as .DSF files using the Support Asset function and just match the folder structure of a Genesis 8.1 Character that you've already downloaded and bought...Funny cuz I'm Disk Jock named DJ Bony Joe....and your Nome de Plume is (Ms/Mrs?)SickleYield....Our noms come from the same plume!😆...🤠
THIS IS ABSOLUTE GOLD. There are SO little tutorials out there for creating stuff for Daz3D, yet there are 500K assets in the store. I'm like HOW IS THIS DONE. You also taught me quite a few blender tricks too. YOUR BREATHTAKING.
Hi, thank you very much for the tutorial. Weight Editing/Smooth Selected didn't work for me. I smoothed by hand each bone, but the dress is not following the movements of the thighs/shins of G8F. How could I fix that?
I'm using Blender 3.41. The snap tool's changed (since 3.3?) and the Face option now comes in 2 variants: Face Project & Face Nearest. Face Project looks closest to what's used in the video. Is that what should be used here?
that is a very detailed and easy to follow tutorial. it covered every step of the process which is perfect for 1st timers like myself :D .. the only struggle i had was during the cloth sims on blender cuz results were varying a little but everything else went smooth as silk! thank you for doing this video!
Wow! This is the most advanced and detailed tutorial I have seen so far, combining all of the things that I have difficult time understanding and using in Daz and I also learned some new things in Blender. I think I will follow and practice everything in this tutorial at least several times to get a much better grasp on the advanced knowledge I been missing.
This is the missing link for SO many 3D artists!! Thank you so much! I've been making custom clothes for months now and have manually sculpted each pose because of my lack of knowledge for this. You have saved me hundreds of hours of pain. I cannot thank you enough. I would love to see how this workflow would differ for clothing on characters with much different shapes and sizes. Perhaps the creature tutorial you eluded to would resolve this question at the same time :)
Well, working in DS the solution to that is to model against the base and add a custom morph for the differing characters. I do have a tutorial up for how to do that!
@@SickleYield ah yes, I've seen that wonderful tutorial! My biggest issue is that the morph remains unposeable, however. Mainly when I use marvelous designer to get better fitting clothes. It never seems to move correctly afterwards. Just for that initial pose. Any suggestions on that? I appreciate the reply!
you can use marvelous too, just export the obj and import in to blender to add bones and textures, new marvelous version owns remesh button to simplify work
Very informative as ever, Sickle Yield. I find the external modelling aspect to be hugely intimidating despite having used Daz for over a decade now but I learned a fair bit here both in the modelling side and the rigging side. Thankyou very much for taking the time.
Thanks. What do you think would be the pros and cons of using this method of importing into Daz studio using the figure setup pane against importing as an obj and using the transfer utility?
Does anyone else have trouble adjusting the clothes to the character if they have modified the form? (taller, muscular, etc). Thanks for this wonderful tutorial!
eh if i ask nicely is there a chance for you to make a robe like the one from harry potter.. all rigged..etc? pls im so bad at this even with the tutorial
ooh! hopefully I'm quite there to follow this... been hoping for a better tutorial on this matter... and you seem to be better at tutorials than most other sources i tend to find :3 ...also, not sure if i was ever first on a vid comment section o.o; odd ...also, u r da best, SY :3
This is exactly what I have been looking for these past few weeks. Thank you, I shall watch it over and over until it all sinks in.
Aww! Thanks so much for sharing! Come in handy for future projects.

Most of the information is in courses on the Daz Studio website

Why is it when I go to mirror? There’s not a second square.
Like, subscribe. Standing ovation. I've been looking for this for so long.... Thank you!
is this still working in 2022? I try it and not regenerate anymore
thank you SY :)

Fantastic tutorial, thank you so much!
Thanks for sharing your experience with us once again.

The reason to use this method is custom bones. If you're making a bodysuit or bikini, TU is fine.

Thank you so much for this! really appreciate it!

Welcome Back!!!
OMG thank you so much, will watch this when I get back from shopping. Been hoping for a current tutorial like this
thanks a lot. tutorials are usually paid for or nonexistent. so really appreciate any help I can get.
