I did the same thing but used a door bell. That way you don't have to remember to turn it of or bumping it on while riding. Just food for thought. Nice video.
I have a better idea, since the relay is there for a reason. A relay is an electromagnetic switch used for controlling high amperage circuits (like power to the startmotor) with a low amperage input (like the brake switch and start switch together to start the engine). Since you bypassed the relay, your new start circut gets hot. Your problem is probably either: 1. Faulty relay, which is easily diagnosed and cheap to replace. jump a cable from power inn on the relay to the power out to the start engine (this is usually the 2 bigges cables on the relay, and the colors is usually, red/red, red/black or black/black. If the start motor turns the relay works. 2. Check if your start button gets power when you press the brake. If not run a wire straight to the battery from the cable that came from the brakes and inn to your start switch. From now on you dont have to hold the brakes for it to start. 3. Now check if your startrelay recives power when you press the start button with a cheap circuit-tester light. Then measure the cable that goes from your start button and inn to the relay, and make sure it recieves power when you use the start button. 4. If you have done the following and the relay neither makes a small "clicking sound" nor do the start engine recieve power, you know it is a grounding problem. Run a wire from your black terminal on the battery to the "probably green/yellow or black" cable that goes out of your relay. your colours on the ground cable may vary so make sure you know which cable is which on your start relay. 5. Now hit the start button again and I promise you that your engine will start to turn. Usually one of the first ting you do is testing your startmotor, but since you showed me that yours work i didnt include testing it as an option. I know that this would be much easier to test with a voltmeter and testing for stuff like continuity, but I am bad at using one and understanding what I am testing. this is a much more logical way to test it for someone who is handy and dont know how to use more advanced testing equipment.

Wrong switch friend, use a push release button and don't by-pass the relay or you will burn the harness ,there are two wires that give command to the relay the two thin ones,find which one is your hot wire and thats where you can connect your button...good luck
Double check your voltages and try charged your battery up till it's fully charged then put battery back in then it will start up with no hassle as that's how I got my quad up running now there no more buzzing sound and if there's a buzzing sound it's trying to tell you charged your battery for sure

Is the thick red striped wire that is also runs into the starter with your wire. is the other end of that connected to the solenoid, because im not entirely sure where it should be comming from on mine.
basically what i did is i attached a wire in the same spot where the thick red wire is thats connected to the starter using a ring terminal that wire then went to one post on my switch the other post from the switch goes to a fuse or fuse holder from there it goes straight to the batterys positive terminal if the switch is grounded it will say (ground) just connect it to a solid piece of metal on the atvs frame or even the negative post of the battery if you want to so when the switch is flipped you will get a light and the starter will turn the engine over but remember that the on switch needs to be to the on position as does the key or the engine will turn over but never start as there is no power going to the coil

Try turning the key to the on position then connect a wire to the negative side of your battery touch that wire to the frame where there is bare metal and touch the positive terminal of the battery to the post on the solenoid that is going to the starter it by passes all of these steps to hook up a switch down side is the extra work to start it each time you want to ride
I've been waiting to do this to my motorcycle, I want to eliminate the kill/run switch entirely. Since its in an all in one control, the kill/run and start switch are all one piece, how do I go about making sure the kill switch is always on the run/on position and not on the off/kill position before wiring it this way. I'm going to wire and mount my start toggle switch right below or next to my key ignition switch or somewhere hidden from plain sight

Jorge Hernandez is your starter bad, is your fuse blown, bad contact, broken solinoid, bad battery, suzuki, is it in gear, is clutch not held in? numerous but simple fixes might be the cause
I wish you would have figured out how to wire the proper start button, because I think I could have actually learned from you. Every video wiring these atv lacks too much to actually help.
Now I have spark to the plug with the key on or off.. how do I turn the key into the kill switch ? I need it to start with the toggle switch and then stay running when I shut the toggle switch off. But the toggle switch is now the start and the kill for the engine. :( HELP !!
okay .... so why didnt you put a solenoid inline so ALL THE CURRENT... DIDNT go through the switch and make it hot.... i guarantee the contacts in that switch will wear out like crazy...

Isn't that the neutral switch so that the engine won't start unless it's in neutral. I replaced mine and old came out of the hole. I didn't know they'd work in oil. But all it is is a switch that's closed by the transmission when it's in neutral. I ordered mine from Amazon, $8.00 and they sent it in an 11x14 plastic envelope. It's only and 1.5" long and .5" wide. Kind of overkill on the packing but I thought it was funny.
How about fixing stuff the right way? People always want to half ass stuff. Love the comment "make sure to cut off the switch or it will burn it up" how about it will burn up the starter. Fix the mess right and you won't have to worry about it burning up the starter or the rigged up toggle switch
i know this is a long time ago, but i have a chinese 150cc atv the dude cut the key ignition wires and used a 16 gauge speaker wire to the stator solenoid and it starts but cant keep an idle and some times it'll do what you showed in your video of just cranking over do you think it could work if i did what you did?

FYI you should use a momentary switch.

He is jumping the solonoid,with those thick wires running all the way up to his handlebars. Its not the safest way, for sure, but it works.

its just a simple on off switch with an extra ground if it is illuminated got it at autozone for like 4 bucks
